  1. I don't envy the decisions upcoming for the staff, but I've got two cents. IF Haarberg gets the next start, or notable time in the next game or few games, be ready for his performance to come back closer to earth. He played his heart out and earned his praise for the week, but also had a handful of factors setting him up for success that won't always be there. One is the talent level of the competition, another is the offense being somewhat stripped down to make it manageable for him.
  2. Play action sells are absolutely a lost art of fundamentals. Rodgers is pretty much the only quarterback left from the era where that was a disciplined skillset.
  3. First of all, anybody would excel if they're surrounded by an elite juggernaut of a system. Second, Frost averaged about 15 passes per game and 13 rushes per game. Sims is averaging 17 passes and 15 rushes per game. We're giving him a run heavy offense with lots of play action, simple reads and traditional/zone read/RPO options. It's obviously not the same system, but what would be the more round hole that he would fit well into? What does he do well that we aren't setting up for him?
  4. It's not just us, or even primarily us, that dubs ourselves the greatest fans. Opposing coaches and players and administrators as well as media types claim it far often than our fanbase as individual people do.
  5. My only predicition is that Sims doesn't start, HH does okay and then people lose their minds the next time they see Sims make a bad decision.
  6. Yep. Good team mechanics in sport and in business is that your default is always to defend your guys publicly and keep accountability internal.
  7. I personally honestly don't mind the commercials that much - it's pretty much the only context in which I *ever* see commercials anymore these days, so it's honestly kind of a fun little novelty, even though the quality of ads has never been worse.
  8. Hard for me to think the GOP has more than a 40% chance regardless of who the candidate is on either side when I think about the millions of Gen Z voters who weren't old enough in 2020.
  9. Remember that high school coach who got suspended allegedly over praying at midfield but really over just continuously disobeying school district policy? Well he won his supreme court case, has a book and a new career as a public speaker, and resigned after one game because even though he told the court he was anxiously awaiting his ruling so he could go back to Washington and retain his old job, he was obviously lying. The grift is real. https://coachjoekennedy.com/home/ https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/06/us/washington-football-coach-pray-resigns/index.html
  10. "Best" is in comparison to everyone else, who also have plenty of games with fans trickling out at the end of games.
  11. can yall stop making dumb posts and instead start making good posts
  12. The way I see it goes something like this. While Sims has a history of turnovers, it steadily improved in his first three seasons and then through spring and fall camp with an emphasis from the coaches on ball security and a good response by him, they likely felt good about his progress even with an understanding that he'll still be good for the occasional boneheaded bad decision. Then by the time the first game comes around, being thrown into two intense environments on the road, the moment became a little too big for him and resulted in a subsequent shellshock effect. I'd wager money that Sims, the staff, and the entire team all agree that what we've seen as fans is not who they truly believe him to be as a quarterback. Ideally, the team will take the next two weeks to get right and the coaches will set him up well for success mentally and physically, then proceed through the rest of the season in a somewhat similar fashion to 2009; shutting the offense down to ball control, clock bleeding possession football.
  13. The last time there was a writer's strike, one of the unintended consequences was that it indirectly led to The Apprentice getting renewed since they had no scripts to work with, which then led to Trump getting elected. Good thing we learned from that and won't let it hap-- wait, what? Oh s#!t.
  14. Ah yes, the highly accomplished and highly respected athletic director who conducted a thorough and methodical search involving an outside firm that specializes in expertise in analytics in regards to coaching hires is...*checks notes* oh right, in over his head. Of course, checks out. No idiocy detected in that assessment at all. /s
  15. cool thanks for making a thread about it
  16. I'm fine with it only being elected positions, but I'm also fine with it being all federal jobs with different limits. There's little to no need or benefit to the public to have 88 year old HR specialists or DAs or Management Program Analysts or anything else really. I'm not saying every federal job should only be workable for 8 years, only that nobody should be 90 and working these jobs. I'm being a bit facetious but I'd prefer an overcompensation in the direction of uncalcifying (probably not a word) the systems compared to the current reality. That might be when you're actually the most productive because you stop trying to be a politician. Yes, this is another massive one. I also think there should be some firm regulations regarding flipping in and out of private/public sector work where your public work necessitates holding private sector work accountable.
  17. Term limits for every single federal job without exception is a no-brainer to me. Strict regulations around being able to personally benefit from insider information while serving in the federal government is also a no-brainer to me.
  18. In response to your response to JJ Watt, the false start we had on the goal line was a very different type and context of motion.
  19. In such a hypothetical world where you could prove this to win or lose a bet, you'd lose it. Being critical of the state of Israel != being anti semitic. First of all a big 'lol' towards your increasingly wacky anecdotal stories that you seem to lean on heavily for your perception of the world. Second, what does 'they were not peaceful' mean? 100% of the people there weren't peaceful? 1% of the people there weren't peaceful? The leaders weren't peaceful? Random unidentified people on the streets who may or may not have anything to do with the protest weren't peaceful?
  20. Even if viewership does go down, the size of the payouts we've been getting will absolutely go down eventually. It's not sustainable, especially for the B1G where a really good chunk of revenue comes from carrier fees for BTN on cable/satellite providers, who are only going to lose more and more customers.
  21. Not really. We were usually giving a 7-10 yard cushion and they were picking us apart with the quick and short game. Thankfully we didn't allow much of any YAC, and we tightened up/they played more into the strength of our scheme later with longer and slower developing pass plays once they were down, but I think Minnesota's quarterback was 11/15 in the first half.
  22. While there's a speck of legitimacy that the incredibly tiny ultra left crowd has progressed into regressivism, the bigger point here is that just because you weren't aware of racial division 5 years ago doesn't mean it wasn't there.
