  1. I don't see the team rolling over. The lack of success has to have some degree of effect on them mentally though.
  2. Seems a top notch guy! This is from 2017. Enjoyable listen. Like his answers to the questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxDOAAqFlqw Part 1
  3. Nice article on Billy Napier. Maybe if things don't work out for Scott Frost, he could bring along his QB Levi Lewis for a year! https://www.si.com/college/2018/07/18/billy-napier-louisiana-lafayette-nick-saban
  4. Related Brandon Vogel this morning on the Hail Varsity I-80 Preview Podcast with some interesting statistics and thoughts on the Ohio State game for anyone interested.
  5. "He deserves a 5th year based off of how the team has played, even in defeat, this year." I agree with you to an extent. My issue is that we haven't won most or all the games we should've. That's concerning. At the same time I think these things are fixable. Depending on the willingness and extent. I hear a lot of excuses in the comments instead of solutions sort of speak. These last games are going to be pretty significant depending on how it plays out. Beating Iowa and playing well in the other two not having huge blowouts is a whole lot different than three loses where one or two are glaring defeats.
  6. That's what it'd be with all that money going up in smoke!
  7. Win one of the three beating Iowa, possibly. If we've at least had some success to feed off of and don't endure huge blowouts prior. Otherwise, it could be a very rough ending. My best guess is that Frost is retained unless Alberts has secured a top level alternative in advance. In another words, the "search" would've essentially been completed. He isn't going to take a whole lot of time to make the determination and is readying himself. I'd say he's leaning no dismissal. Scott seems curiously comfortable and in good spirits this week for whatever reason(s).
  8. With this schedule there'd better be nine or ten wins!
  9. 37-20 Ohio State Hopefully we can generate a running game not becoming one dimensional sustaining some longer drives with decent time of possession utilizing our tight ends more, create 2-3 turnovers and have a minimum of mistakes. That's asking a lot.
  10. Looks like a good coach to me. Maybe could use more seasoning yet in comparison to those two others? In my heart of hearts, I hope Scott Frost finds his way and the resolutions to what's plaguing us begin fruition. If Napier were to come, he could bring along Levi Lewis for a year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azBsJHpw5mQ&t=43s
  11. I'm not sure what the cause is for the comment being laughed at. I'm not familiar with Deboer but I do find Napier particularly appealing. We're just presenting ideas and ultimately is in the hands of Trev Alberts. Scott's probably going to be retained for an additional year. In the end, if he decides a change is necessary, Chaldwell and Napier seem to be pretty solid considerations to me. That's if, not unlike so many other potential candidates, they'd be interested. Hopefully we'll get excited with games won instead of having to make head coaching changes.
  12. People want results! At this point we've shot not one but both feet repetitively. Enough trying and excuses.
  13. Someone said to me a few weeks back that he didn't fear anyone remaining on the schedule. That was after the Michigan game. My response was that we have ourselves to fear. We are our own worst enemy.
  14. That's the case, Martinez the best option. Still, it'd be worth it for him to have an opportunity to prove himself I'd think and gain experience. Those kind of opportunities have been rare. Haarberg has a very high ceiling though isn't ready.
  15. If it's one part of the puzzle, good for him. Both of them. Go for it!
  16. How about putting corn smack dab in the middle of mashed potatoes and the stuffing right next to it. Then slather it all with some really good thick brown gravy. Yum!
  17. Me too. When the lights went on, I was screaming again and again and again over GO BIG RED!!!
  18. I mentioned him joking recently. Seriously though, he's accomplished a lot there.
  19. Okay, I suppose I'll catch heck for including Dave Aranda too. lol
  20. Time of possession. And plays run. If the opponents game plan is to play keep away then have to be able to do that. Which, would involve not turning the ball over and having a sustainable running game. We know that already. Then there's making the other team go the longest distance possible. Quarterback errors, offensive line play that doesn't support the quarterback and the running backs and special teams playing that doesn't lend to causing the opponents to drive longer distances are our issues. This is nothing new and spectacular. Explosive plays are nice to execute. Yet having the ability to execute runs is necessary too. I think these things are fixable. It's like making soup the elements complementing each other. Gotta have the right ingredients (players, team abilities) and cooks (head coach, assistants). There's an old saying, you bake with the flower you have (players). Scott, get yourself the "flour" you need and if the "cooks" aren't cooking well enough, show them the door. Similarly with the flour. Players that aren't performing well enough can sit. At least demonstrate a willingness to give others opportunities to prove themselves. This is your time and your legacy. Winners adjust, adapt and learn. The question isn't so much can he, but will he? There's a lack of continuity with this offense. It can sometimes gain momentum but not sustain it. It doesn't the yet know how to break the other teams will. At least a good teams. And maintain momentum. The effort is good but I just don't see a nasty attitude about them that's necessary of imposing their will. I haven't given up on Scott though our issues are real. We don't need to do a little better here and a little better there. We don't need more trying. And everyone accepts responsibility and is part of the solution so, be present in the locker room even if you don't say much or anything at all. Yes, there's been improvement. I suppose it's easy for us to criticize from the outside in. I think that my expectations are reasonable and 3-6, possibly 3-9 is nowhere near where we're needing to be in year four. What we sow and how it's taken care of is what we reap.
  21. Waiting for now. After a 3-9 season in year four would be tough. We'll see. He'd have to demonstrate a willingness to make changes to the staff on offense. There's really no option there. There's improvement but not where it counts most, wins.
  22. I'll add to my list Dave Doren, NC State
  23. Scott sounded deflated in the after game interview, almost as though he's thinking his end is nearing. The biggest issues I have is the offensive line and that continuity with this offense is absent. It's a variety of things but mainly that. Martinez has been running for his life for most of four years. I think he's dealing with some physical and mental issues. There's no nasty attitude with this team. It's like they think that chopping good firewood is easy. It's tough. I've heard enough "try". If the fire department is coming to save your home and rescue your loved ones, do you want them to TRY or have the fortitude that they WILL GET DONE. Plus, if the chief and the captains are saying TRY all the time how much confidence does that indicate their having in the individuals of their unit? The little things count. We WILL get it corrected transitions into WE ARE getting it correct to we HAVE IT CORRECTED. I said I could live with a 6-6 record, not 3-9 (Maybe it was 4-8) and that it'd probably be 5-7. It's looking 3-9 most likely. It could get real ugly these remaining games. This was a real gut punch for the team. I'm not sure how much they have left in the tank. One can recognize the need for more passing and explosive plays but it's beyond me how the running game could be abandoned to the extent it was from the first to the second half. Again, continuity isn't there. Try this and try that. Always trying...
