  1. Building takes time. Communication is very important. Should be genuine, open, and honest. It is pivotal to separate ties between the previous staff and returning players to begin a fresh start. I believe that is why you do not retain coaches, unless there is someone like Warren for all the right reasons.
  2. I would say that Stanton didn't get much PT because he was 3rd on the depth chart. I understand he was third, but why is he 3rd? Mental? Not knowing the play book? etc? For someone that was ranked high in the camps and then to be lower then the walk-on, there has to be something going on with him. My theory is that the coaching staff did not want any extra pressure to deal with if Stanton was named the backup. I think they would have stayed with TA no matter how bad he could have struggled with consistency, and BP did not want to address any questions about the backup QB. Nobody in media is calling for Fyfe when Armstrong struggles. So I think it came down to Fyfe practicing admirably as a walk on, there wasn't clear separation in practice between him & Stanton - the high profile recruit, and Bo wanted to avoid talking about quarterbacks. Just my thoughts on the situation.
  3. That's not accurate. TCU/Baylor is a Huge rivalry game. No less than the Huskers/Colorado or any rivalry game. Toss out records & stats because anything can happen.
  4. “This guy’s really good,” Riley said. “It’s comforting for me to know that I have one guy that that’s what he’s doing. That’s where he’s spending his energy, his time, his preparation. That’s where his mark on this team is with those special teams.”
  5. Second chances normally come around. Unfortunately for Carl, I don't see that happening in an NCAA environment.

  7. Wow. Pretty impressive. They must have had a good pass rush too. Sacks count as a rushing stat attempt. I'm anxious to see how our defense does with Banker/Hughes/Bray/Warren at the helm. So glad to be done with the Pelini/Paps/Kaz/Els/Warren group.
  8. Same thought that came to my mind too
  9. Cool insight from Ganz, appreciate the recap ColoradoHusk
  10. IMO if Braxton Miller does not roll an ankle with the lead, and Joe Bauserman does not come into the game, the comeback doesn't happen, the boos would have increased, and Bo would've really been hot. Or hotter.
  11. Interesting he says we need speed when he was a very good LB and wasn't very fast, but smart. Times have changed some and it's about impossible to coach speed. But you can coach some other things. I feel linebacker you have it or you don't. You can improve yes but it's more instinct like you mentioned with Bray. You have it or you don't and you are constantly trying but out of position a lot I strongly feel the same with the bolded part. And I believe the linebackers are the central part of a great blackshirt defense. We could use some improvement in this area. It's been just average since the Sean Fischer / Will Compton era began.
  12. Good for Trev, well earned. Off topic, I think David Pollack will be eligible next year and easily make it.
  13. I'm good with 4. The winners play their way into a title game. Unfortunately TCU did not make it. I think they were better than all four this year, and would have beaten any of them. But it is what it is and tOSU won it all. It was that type of year and not expected to be the norm.
  14. Should take the final rankings and carry them over to the start the season. The second rule should state that any loss during the first 4 weeks removes the team from top 25. No hard feelings but, Buh-Bye. Which then lets other programs & fan bases including non P5 schools enjoy being ranked if that happens. Because by week 6 the committee gathers and starts from scratch. Which means a team that loss on opening day, got dropped out of the rankings, could be 5-1 and suddenly ranked #10 from the committee. Thoughts?
  15. Q. What do you get when you combine the two together? A. Craig James
  16. No Victory Formation? Sportsmanship? Nothing mentioned

Sorry…. I admire his success, but have no respect for him as a man….never had class. Oregon wasn't using time outs….a knee would have been classy.

Got no problem at all with that final score. Step on the throat and remove all question.

Glad they won but he should have taken a knee. Oregon wasn't burning timeouts, game was over.

  17. Amazing to hear how to to adjust as opposed to "we just didn't execute crap". Even if we lose this year, I expect a complete 4 quarters of play. Have to agree with you both. +1 each
  18. Riley gets a shot at both Oregon & Ohio State in 2016 & also 2017 (scheduled). Should have better players this time around against the Ducks. And from the game chat, I feel a lot more confident with him against Oregon than BP. He's insightful and very knowledgeable. He understands defenses too. Good fit for us.
  19. a few SEC viewers? I think he did a nice job this year though.
  20. You are aware that Riley publicly had said he was thinking about making major changes in his offense even before he took this job? And, that they will mold their offense to fit the talent we currently have on the team? Yep and yep. But coaches go back to what they know and why would you want a staff to come in that has never coached one type of offense and try to start running it? And sure I might be wrong...but it is what I think I'm not saying I expect them to go from a prototypical drop back passing attack to a wishbone triple option. I expect them to have plenty of passing. But, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't work into the mix more of an attack that takes advantage of a QBs running ability. It also will be interesting to see what he chooses to do as far as tempo. Those sorts of things can be changed especially when you have a very experienced, well seasoned coaching staff. Heck, TO completely changed his own offense around 1980. I don't expect that type of change. But, I would be surprised if they run exactly what they ran at OSU. Riley recently mentioned it will be a pro-style set. I read that somewhere here. So if no QB is capable to run it with efficiency, then they will have to blend it up some based on that. It would be unfortunate if there is no QB on the entire roster that can't grasp and run Riley's offense. Especially with the teaching, guidance, attention and direction the QBs will get. Mobility can help with rollout passes, avoiding sacks, extending plays and specific QB run plays. That's what mobility should do to help. As oppose to exerting a lot of energy running zone reads, taking hits, and then passing the ball 25+ a game.
  21. I like the idea that even the QB spot is up for grabs. New playbook and expectations and all. Hopefully someone emerges to their liking.
