  1. Lets help the RiledUppers start this off... 1. Michigan always had good recruits... Well, they did have the #10 defense in 2014 under Hoke.... So they went from 10 to 4...nice! What did NU do? from like 59th to 39th? Right? By the end of the year Banker seemed to have things going better. Nebraska clearly took a step back. But I thought we were talking Michigan no, every thread on the board is really about finding a way to trash riley and his staff. btw, wtf is a riledupper?
  2. it's not 5-7 having a negative effect on recruiting it's the calling for the coaches to be fired after the second and third loss of the season. how long have these kids been hearing about how the coaches need to go from the fans and other programs picking up on this then using it negatively?
  3. the first time he steps on the football field in an actual game his scholarship moves over to football.
  4. Yeah, but don't you think it's a good idea to rotate the #2 in for a series or two when you can, to get some experience under his belt? I've always been in favor of this. I even think it would help the #1 to sit on the sidelines for a few plays, with his coach pointing stuff out to him to help him out when he goes back in. so, who's calling the plays while this is occurring?
  5. struggling? i thought they had been playing better. and when did jim ross start doing football shows?
  6. he's six credits away from a master's degree. Why wouldn't you come back for a free masters and still get to be part of Nebraska Football, playing or not. wait, they're here to get an education and not just play football?
  7. That's a good one. I have 3 kids and none of them have been smacked on the rear. These are also good: "It’s like cooking a turkey for every Thanksgiving and then serving up savory prime rib or seeing a peacock working a power drill." "This dynamic duo has the potential to take a comically oversized mallet to them like something straight out of Looney Tunes." My thought in response to this article: It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing. the baby smacked on rear comment is about a new born and how they were smacked on the rear to get them breathing. it's no longer a practice they use as there are other methods. might not be the best metaphor but is an interesting one. So he'll be able to cradle the ball like he's started breathing? I don't get any sense of what this is a metaphor of. I don't find it interesting either. The writer tries to be too cute and fails. How about comparing them to some of the top tight ends we've had, like Junior Miller and Johnny Mitchell? I have little doubt their stats will be better, since those two played on mostly running teams. ffs, you'd hold a newborn baby in a way that nothing would happen to it. kind of like how a football player wants to hold a football. my comment was that it wasnt an abusive situation, that many have insinuated, he was using but rather an out-dated practice. i cannot believe the amount of people being willfully obtuse about it.

  9. honoring that scholarship as a non-athletic scholarship then goes into the grey area of giving benefits to athletes the general population doesnt have access to. unless you are willing to give every student who suffered an injury their senior year.
  10. What are you talking about? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, far be it for me to dictate how others think or feel. I tend to stay grounded in the facts. Yeah, unbearable, they need a good spanking. once they've been twisted to meet your agenda. and i am glad i didnt have a drink otherwise i would need a new laptop.
  11. I didn't send an email... but.... So as a 45+ years fan... I'm replaceable ? I've been feeling for a long time that... that is exactly what the administration of the Nebraska football program actually thinks. Talk about a sense of entitlement and superiority. It's good for long time fans to read this. We need to know how we are really viewed by the program... once and for all. Maybe Harvey does not cherish Nebraska fans, he certainly does not understand them. You are not replaceable as a fan, none of us are. Random member on a fan board does not represent the program as a whole. Fans all year have been telling each other what their view of a fan is, fair weather this and fanatic that. This is appropriate, that is not blah blah. If someone says they are a fan and they care enough to jump in the middle of the mud slinging I take them at face value. I know when the fans start rattling the cages in high numbers you get the attention of the powers that be. If everyone had just sat back and hoped for the best quietly Eichorst would not have issued a statement and his contract extension would not have been delayed. I have faith in Hank Bounds the new president. He seems to get it. HP is almost out. ADSE has to do well here is his career is done. Riley in my opinion was a horrible hire. He will either prove me wrong or be replaced quickly. actually all fans are replaceable. they'd have to be otherwise they'd all die out. Why perpetuate the notion that the program administration has no regard for the people that love and support it? You understand what the post was implying. No entity can turn their back on their customers and continue to thrive. So no living fan should feel like they can be replaced, discarded, disrespected, or unappreciated. If someone has been supporting the team for 45 years they deserve the recognition and appreciation for that. and in a literal sense (which you missed) all fans are replaceable.

  13. wonder if this is covered in the stipend.....
  14. Great call here. A fan all the way back since before 95? No way! Yep I was wrong can't do it outside of a blown out of bounce call by the officials. Sorry didn't see that one coming. Keep digging. You're bound to find the bottom of that hole sometime. I apologize I didn't realize the truth hurt so much dont worry, you'll get over the pain of nebraska winning in time.
  15. is that the first round of voting, or was their a round of 64?

    Iowa

iirc, the cu-nu game alternated time slots with the ut-a&m game. every two years they would switch.
  17. naw, the coaches still suck the players just won in spite of the woeful coaching. and do i really need the sarcasm emoticon?
  18. If the receivers didn't drop any passes . . . If the OL held their blocks just a little longer . . . If the coaches called timeouts in crucial sutuations when needed (last play against Illinois) . . . If my aunt had balls . . . Not surprised you're willfully missing the point. I'm saying one player -- the most important player -- could negate all the above. Not counting your aunt's conflicted genitalia. That player is also among the leaders in offense in the league and country. Quit looking to scapegoat players in defense of a .500 coach doing what a .500 coach does. It just looks desperate. Didn't realize you were a fan of the volume passing game. Tommy Armstrong appears to be a .500 passer, doing what a .500 passer does. Is it hard for you to envision a more reliable passer making a positive difference on this team? And in a season of razor thin defeats, do you deny even a slight improvement by this one player might translate to more wins? Wait. You'd still be composing the same posts regardless. Never mind. I think there's a much better place to look for improvement of one person's performance leading to more wins. It's where the buck is supposed to stop. didnt a coach who constantly blamed his players for failures utter this?
  19. well partly right, neither was part of the staff that was fired.
  20. wonder if the coaches taught him to just stand around while the play was still ongoing. look i am not just bagging on gerry to say the players suck, i want them to succeed. the point is it isnt just the coaching that is failing right now, it is the players themselves as well. purdue's first drive of the second half after nebraska scored all i wanted was someone to make a play but no one ever did. no one is making plays on defense consistently enough, if at all at times. that isnt just the coaching it is also on the players. my comment was directed at you either ads. more for those that say the only thing that ails us is the coaching.
  21. Theres no chance 3 of these guys do everything perfectly enough to ever play if Cavanaugh is around. You know that heart, want to, passion, etc mean nothing if your technique in every area isnt near perfect. does NU even have 5 guys like that now?
