  1. I made a post suggesting that maybe he was an introvert or dealing with social anxiety or something, but no one responded to it. The way he acts on the sidelines at times I'd say is consistent with someone dealing with problems relating to that, and oftentimes that type of behavior is misconstrued as unfriendly, arrogant, etc. I also have issues with social anxiety, and it is difficult to deal with. It seems as if no one wants to hear about it because "shyness" isn't a disorder in the eyes of other people.
  2. One of the few posters who has legitimate inside info (as it seems anyway) saying something that I honestly observe as an outsider. The kid is not a prima donna. He's just really frickin weird. Socially and otherwise. You have to cut that kid some slack. I mean for real. I think we all remember when Ricky Williams retired from the NFL and played in the CFL because he had social anxiety. Some people are just wired different. Trust me when I say it's hard cuz I have to deal with it too
  3. It was a couple of months ago, I think. I just listened to the podcast on a drive; can't remember the episode. Sorry. I get the sense that Dillahunty may be getting tired/bored with the gig. He's been on there forever and I think after you hear the same asinine argument for the millionth time, your patience wears thin. Which I get. It's sometimes hard to remember that just because you've heard this baseless nonsense a million times doesn't mean the other person has heard your response even once. If I were Matt I would try to arrange more of these formal debates. He has plenty of seasoning by now, and his co-hosts, while none of them are quite as good as him, can do the job when he's out crusading. He's intellectually way past the point of dealing with your average delusional caller. He's got the brain for the big stage, and now the experience in rhetoric. Plus quite a little following. You're definitely right about the big stage. I think if he kept at it a couple more years and involved himself in more debates and speaking arrangemnets, he could write a Hitchens/Harris type book with his own thoughts as well. He could become a fifth guy to the four horsemen.
  4. Do you think Mr. Touchback gets a look? Talk about an NFL weapon as well.
  5. Also why would Pelini give in to a request to not suspend Martinez? If the kid is gone regardless, why does it matter to Pelini if it'll be any easier or harder to transfer out after a suspension? Kid breaks rules, he gets suspended. Simple as that. No gray area in Pelini's world. You Ilumminatists need to lay off the Kool-aid.
  6. This is a matchup of teams who crap their pants in odd situations. When push comes to shove, who's got the shakiest QB and team? That's my answer. I mean honestly Nebraska has become more stable without Martinez in there. Less explosive but more stable. It goes great with the leap the defense has taken lately.
  7. Maybe not new blood but a new mindset that favors player development and new techniques. Nebraska is reaching a level where they can win every single game yet make the stupidest of stupid mistakes in big moments or just lack execution in clutch opportunities. These aren't things that a new offensive philosophy will help. This isn't Charlie McBribe going from 5-2 to the 4-3 because of lack of team speed.
  8. Every competent OC produces the same results with his 3rd stringer as with his 1st stringer, regardless of the quality of the opponent's defense... JOEY I wouldn't worry a whole lot. We shall see how it goes with Green. As others have pointed out, we were possibly in worse shape last year injury wise on offense, in the CCG, against a higher quality opponent to boot. Main difference being we do not have Suh. Are you being sarcastic with the first sentence? I mean seriously? I would say that the Colts and Pats have competent OC's but no one in their right mind would say that a third stringer (basically a UFL player) would replicate the results of Manning or Brady. I could also guarantee that if Cam Newton went down, no Auburn fan would trust Kodi Burns to replicate Cam's abilities. I bet you wish you could take that back. Complete sarcasm. OP (emphasis in bold) seems to suggest that should be the standard, so I am pointing out how crazy it is. Good examples So 99, I'm a bit confused with our series of responses. First you seem to suggest that we'll know Watson should go if the O doesn't show up with Green starting. I try to point out that's a crazy standard to hold him to, given that Green is 3rd string. You seem to refute that by suggesting Green isn't just any old third string based on how he's started a few games. I tried to refute that argument, and now we're back on Martinez. I'm confused, but to answer your question, no way I would sit Taylor if healthy (*unless he is suspended, but that situation is murky and we'll take it out of the equation for now), he is the #1 man. * by the way, I think the Colts have had one highly renowned OC since Manning has been there, but the Pats have had a bit of a revolving door there recently. Bill O'Brien is OC at least in name, and QBs coach, but of course Pats fans are skeptical of him still and have been since McDaniels left. Plenty of criticizing of playcalling, which is pretty much what any OC gets though. Not a lot of hype about O'Brien at any rate, though some press people locally feel he's solid. Ok good. If Watson needs to be fired for something, it needs to be the QB coach position. New blood somewhere. Anywhere. Player development on the offensive side is key and it seems like only the RB and TE positions are at elite levels.
  9. The SMU death penalty. Woody Hayes striking an opposing player. Those are things off the top of my head.

  11. It's a feeling of helplessness as a little bitch cries while watching his job get pissed away.
  12. I love this show. It's helped me not feel alone in my beliefs. You should go back in the archives and watch some of the 2008 shows. They're really good.
  13. A new offensive philosophy might not be what Nebraska needs right now. The mind behind the offensive philosophy needs to stop being so stubborn and prideful. For a guy who the last two seasons had to switch the offense up mid season, is very stubborn in-game with general matchups and going away from something that works and vice versa. It seems like Nebraska's offensive woes, come from lack of execution and undisciplined penalties, these coming mostly from the O-Line and receiver corps. This leads me to believe that the Huskers need upgrades at position coaching. The biggest example comes from Mike McNeil getting horribly underused as a receiver as opposed to a TE. Ron Brown needs to be the WR coach.

  15. Oh thank you so much for using that analogy. I was trying to think of somebody that T-Magic reminded me of, and Husker_x comes through, as if there were anybody else that could. A shy even keeled kid with all-world athletic ability. It's a sight to behold for sure.
  16. I'm just gonna say that even though it's Texas, Colt McCoy isn't the one taking snaps back there for the Whorns. Honestly, the skers, with the kind of defense they put out there, they'd only need a serviceable linebacker. LaVonte David has shown that he is way more than serviceable. Nebraska used Dejon Gomes as it's second LB pretty much the entire game (Dime package?) and held a Heisman capable RB to 63 yards and a 2.9 avg. Honestly, having Compton back takes Gomes or David off the field and I'm not sure if I want that at the moment.
  17. They also have speed rushers on the ends, which also doesn't help against zone read.
  18. KMART = Dumbbuts. Yeah Yeah!!!!!!!!!
  19. This needs to happen once a year in every single state. Rally to Restore Sanity needs to be it's own party. A grass roots movement to actually take back the country to make it for all of us, and not just for the fringe.
  20. You ruined a perfectly valid concern with your additional question.
  21. I caught that. He knew he'd screwed it up, too. He had this kind of mopey look into the camera as they went to break. Can't get them all right off the cuff like that. He called the DB's ballhawks right before he said it, so he just got Blackshirts and ballhawks mixed together. No biggie. Maybe the PESO should be redubbed the Blackhawk defense. Love it!
  22. WR screens are a staple of most of the spread offenses. Spread the defense out and find mismatches be it athletically or in numbers and WR screens create those.
  23. Do those people have anything to do with Pope Gregory? The Knights Templar? The British royal family? What's the connection? And, how has it been able to maintain for over 600 years? I'm gonna say that it hasn't and that you're clutching at straws.
  24. I can't believe you made a Bobby McFerrin reference.
