Watched every game during BS covid lockdowns April-June on YouTube from 1991-2010 that was available. if you watch the Cornhuskers for those 20 years you can see in plain motion of our biggest flaw/downfall it’s 1. Top talent 2. turnovers 3. Penalties everyone wants talent, we gotta get ours and develop it. beyond that, let’s not turn the ball over and have self killing penalties. the first is hard, but the the last two...we have to be better by desire. If we limit turnovers and penalties we win dozens of more games the last 20 yrs...Watch the tape of those years, it’s how we won, and now it’s we are losing.

I hate the ads on this forum. They f#&%ing suck. Having said that, Frost Calling plays isn’t the problem. Some situational stuff he can get better at, but Nebraska moves the ball. People calling for him to give it up probly never even coached little league.

Fidone is correct. Bama, Clemson, OU, tOSU....they all reigning champs and have the cycle of pro-turns. I heard on the game cast Bama OT is 6’7” and 360 lbs? I mean, that’s a human wall. Plus Smith and Harris? Lol, that’s some 90s N s#!t right there. we have some walls now, we have a couple 6’2” WR, we have a D that’s gotten better by inches, we have a Sr QB... I’m excited for next year. I think we’ll be good, not great, but breaking thru some of these f’ing 6-10 pt losses we’ve had the last 3 yrs. We are on the up

We are message-boarding about our best offensive player. He’s a good player and has represented us well. It’s a definite loss for next year. Yeah? How we gonna ‘dive’ into it? That’s stupid. Every players situation is different, but the common denominator is Frost culture. So of course all fingers will point to frost, but it’s not a linear equation.

It will be harder for teams to retain mid-level talent that needs time to develop. Maybe after several years of 1000+ players in the portal it will signal to kids to stay put for the most part. But I’m not a big fan of it personally.

Since we don’t have a mass exodus incoming, I think our special teams gets better next year cuz the players that are coming back/staying means we use more athletes that need playing time, guys trying to get on the field, competing for starting jobs want to play. special teams get better when the starters are solid.

Besides Baker getting beat out by Mahomes lol...those guys left programs that were championship lvl already and had already played and proved at a high lvl. OU coach became a “gun for hire”. Now he has his guy Rattler that he actually recruited and looks very very good...good for OU I can see why Frost sticks w Martinez cuz there ain’t no Hurts walkin thru when we are 4-8. so build it up that maybe, when need be, we can have that happen. the more this all plays out, the more I’m feeling good where we’re at

Thx for the info on them! just my opinion, whether I agree or not (or anyone else for that matter)...it kinda seems like Frost likes to ride or die w his guys. He’s brought in a few “areas of needs guys” but hasn’t really reached for anyone it seems. So young on offense, he may play it out w what he has?? Who knows? (And also, would anyone of those guys come here anyway lolol)

Do we know injury history of these guys we are “targeting”? maybe they were total studs and had some good games/stretches, but maybe they have some mileage in them too. just a good question to ask before we think that any P5 player is ready to come in as 4-6 yr players.

Fair enough. I still think if players aren’t playing at any position, or are friends that are committing sexual assault together or, have to have the “hard talk” about their status etc....it boils down to Frost. He has to ultimately do the dirty work/hard talks so if he really is a problem players will talk about him and bail on him first, then the team, then the State. seems like these days, more of the diva players are on the offensive side of the ball anyway. l mean, look who’s really left/kicked off team...offensive players. That just cannot be all on Frost. Sometimes the players need to move on. Since guys are coming back, methinks they don’t mind playing for him. Granted it’s been two big stars for us that happen to be on defense, but still, Star Offense guys aren’t bailing yet either.

@Toe Sorry. I don’t buy this take. a head coach with a bad locker room and ego infects a whole team, not just one side. as less players leave and more players use the COVID year, the more dispelled the notion that these players don’t want to play for 1. Frost 2. The State of Nebraska 3. Each other, all of each other and 4. think that they are so damn close to being a part of the turnaround. guys coming back isn’t negative and let’s not spin it in any way negative. This is GREAT evidence that kills most all notion of negativity. Lastly, if they didn’t like it here but still wanted to play or “go play for a winner” they have a portal they could step into

shot across the bow. I think Frost knows excellence. I think he expects it. But where we are now, unfortunately, he has to teach it. getting good, smart players is one thing. Teaching them the way you want them to do your thing is another beast. When older players can teach and help the younger ones grow during practice that’ll be the switch. We have so many young players they aren’t learning from older players. good god, can we get some upperclassmen? The rub is Martinez will be a Sr and Robinson will be a Jr next yr. Gotta get these rFr and Soph taking control of this freaking team. the next 2 yrs is ride or DIE

Martinez stats pass the brain test Martinez on field play doesn’t pass the eye test overall N talent doesn’t help either of those. He’s a good QB overall, with not great help around him to take the ball and just do some s#!t with it. as I type this it really really makes me hope they take Luke M and find ways to get him on the field 35-45 plays a game with targeted 8-12 plays, not at QB. martinez has good stats. The team hasn’t performed well with him as QB (W/L) but it’s not all his fault. f#&%, we might be close.

Seeing Linn in HSa dozen times, he was def a project to get his body right. Hopefully we see it, it would confirm the S&C program
