Now I see what you're talking about.  I didn't think it was doing that to me yesterday.  Or even this morning.  Perhaps I just wasn't paying enough attention.

I wonder if it isn't something twitter did on their end. They're doing their best to force people to use their new layout, but I have a browser extension that forces the old layout template. There's a warning atop twitter dot com saying they're killing that ability as of June 1st. Maybe this is part of that?

Could be.  I was trying to find something on the IP.Board but haven't found anything.  I did find some stuff from a couple years ago that said it was a Twitter issue so that would be my guess here as well.
