  1. Drinking TONS of Kool Aid, so we win!!! Actually, I also feel this game is the turning point for NU. Ohio St. isn't that great, their offense is one person (granted he is REALLY good), our defense will play lights out and at least slow him down. With our defenses being equal, we are more talented on O than they are and NU will be very hard for them to stop. JUST PROTECT THE DARN BALL!!! Michigan St. is getting owned by Indiana, granted it's early, but it is taking a lot of luster off of the Ohio St. victory over MSU. GO BIG RED!!!
  2. What have the "big dogs" shown that has you convinced we shouldn't beat them? Michigan and Ohio State have the running QBs, but other than that they pretty much suck. Michigan State has a one man offense and an overrated defense we mushed into the ground last year. There's really nothing about them that worry me. I have to agree, both Wiscy and Mich. St. are getting beat as we speak. Michigan and Ohio St. both rest entirely on one person (offensively), and both of their defenses aren't great either. Our offense seems to be the most talented and dynamique of any in the Big. As I watch the other teams in the Big, I really like our chances to possibly take it this year. We are not closing down plays on defense that we need to in order to beat teams of a higher caliber. There are still too many easy yards other teams are just taking from us. We need to close down the screen...I mean hit it for a loss and not a 5 yard gain to the likes of Ark. St. I still saw too many times where our first tackler couldn't lock the play down. Sure this may not bite you with Ark. St. but it will with better teams (see UCLA just last week). And we are still not bringing enough pressure (needed to beat D-Rob and Michigan). Our D-Line is not exactly making highlight reel run-stuffs (needed to beat Bell and MSU). And UCLA's Hundley is a poor man's Braxton Miller (and if we play like we did against Hundley, the OSU game will be very ugly). So, the defense did some nice things today but are you really telling me that in just one week it has improved so much that we are going to run the Big 10? I don't agree...nor do I think Bo or the team would either. Improvement is a good step but I want to see much, much more. I guess I am just not convinced that the rest of the Big is of "much higher caliber." The fact that the Big is looking weaker and weaker every day bodes well for our chances. Now, if we are talking about us vs the SEC or other teams in the top ten, then I would agree with you.

  4. I haven't posted since last season and didn't really plan to post much this year, very busy life. I have been getting quite a chuckle out of the meltdown going on today. I love my Huskers, but let's put this in perspective, I am married and I have 4 kids, (my oldest has autism) both my wife and I work and I am going back to school. It is JUST A GAME, taking care of my family and providing for them is what matters. I enjoyed watching the game last night even though we lost, it's football, someone will lose. I am 43 and remember the glory years quite well, but I don't see anything worth getting this worked up over. I will probably get flammed by some, that's ok, but seriously, passion for a team is one thing, but when it effects your entire life, you need to seriously back away! GO BIG RED!!!
  5. +1 I love watching these kids play. Most importantly, they need our support, not the insane meltdowns that take place on this board
  6. 1. It's just football and I love my Huskers win or lose. 2. Huskerboard meltdown round three begins now. 3. Some people get WAY to upset over a game. 4. We can still go 9-3 in the regular season. Which is good. 5. Many of us were wrong about the Big, what a slugfest. 6. No, Bo doesn't need to be fired, seriously people. 7. Did I mention its just a game and I love my Huskers win or lose.
  7. Having lived 8yrs in Mi. ( thanfully have been back in the Omaha area for over last year now) my wife is from there, and I have many friends and family from there. I would like nothing more than to see the Huskers beat the Wolverines soundly. I really don't want to have to listen to them gloat for the next year. Of course I wouldn't mind being the one to.
  8. That whether we win or lose, some people will never be happy. Good grief, we won a very emotional hard fought game. We have done well against three very good D's, I'm happy. On to Mechiken.
  9. Agreed, I personally hope the stadium is sold out, Penn. St. Players deserve it, especially the seniors. These kids had nothing to do with this. Of course here's to hoping the Huskers kick their butts.
  10. The offense kept fighting till the end, they never gave up and that was an awesome sight. We are still very much in this. The Big is crazy this year and anything is possible. Also, it looks like the winner for the worst thread (Bo has to go) of the day is starting to lose steam.
  11. +1 you read my mind. I am sorry I even waisted time reading this thread.
  12. Go Huskers, beat the Mildcats!!! I hate you K-State you purple wearing pansies. Oh wait, were not in that other conference anymore. What is it with the Wildcat mascot and the color purple? I am so confused. Huskers 42 Mildcats (Northwestern) 14
  13. Well, if Ohio St. beats Wisky ( so far they are ) and if we win our Division that isn't the rematch I wanted to see in the CCG. Ohio St. could be tough the second time around. Of course, UM is by far our toughest division game left on the schedual, I still think we will beat them though.
  14. On a side note, that Northwestern team some are worried about is getting smoked by another mediocre team, the Hawkeyes. I am liking our chances more and more. I have complete faith that the Pelini's will get the D figured out. No back to topic, oh wait, it' been off several times now. :-)
  15. Watched the game and neither teams was all that impressive. Michigan is clearly overated, and Michigan St. D has yet to play a real O (see again U of M is highly overated). As someone else said, feeling better about the Huskers chances to win our Division. The Pelini's didn't suddenly forget how to coach D. They will get it turned around, with guys SJB and Rome, we might finally see the missing pieces coming together on D. Offensively, we keep getting better and are quite the force to be reckoned with. Also, I am just not sold on Northwestern like some are and we have them at home. And, I don't see Penn St or Iowa challenging us, neither has looked good at all. I just hope we can make a game of it if we do get another shot at Wisconsin.
  16. Why are you overlooking Minnesota? It's that type of attitude that gets us in trouble. With our defense, anything is possible (cue KG). Here we go again, because we can. We are not playing Minnesota, we are just posters on a message board. We can overlook any body we want to. These comments always crack me up. All that matters is that Bo, the rest of the coaches and the players don't overlook them. Honestly, Minnesota doesn't deserve our concern, they really do SUCK!
  17. I will be happy to eat crow when it comes to Taylor. He actually impressed me a great deal tonight. Thank you Taylor for proving me wrong. Also, I think the game ball goes to the team for showing an amazing amount of heart tonight. Also, I was reading the game thread tonight but chose not to post. I just have to say that so many comments were just rediculous, from "Bo has given up" to "Bo doesn't want to beat the team he will be coaching next year." Seriously? I may have doubted Martinez's potential, but WOW is all I can say. Taylor, Rex, Lavonte and the rest of the team, my hat goes off to you. Enjoy the win, and to the haters, by NO means is the season over. This team is still capable of great things. Finally, that is why I never quit watching the game even if we lose big, I could have missed the biggest come back in Husker history. Sucks to be those who did.
  18. I have to agree, the Huskers will play their best game of the season tonight and bust some Buckeyes. Of course I thought they would beat Wisky last week also. I always think the Huskers will win, maybe I am just a delusional Big Red fan. Seriously, I think the Huskers still have the talent to be a very good team, just have to play smart football.
  19. I understand being frustrated with a guy who's not leading us to victories, but this isn't even remotely true. I've watched Taylor lower his shoulder several times this year, and that's despite the fact that coaches have told him to avoid contact. He did it several times last year as well. Further, he's juked guys out of their socks several times - most notably the shoulder/ball fake against the Washington linebacker in the third quarter, and there are plenty of other examples. It's clear you're not in love with Martinez as a quarterback and that's OK, you don't have to be a huge fan. But if you're going to critique him and be taken seriously it helps if you talk about actual flaws. You're just making stuff up here, and that's no way to hold a conversation. And I can see you are a serious T-mart sunshine pumper. So, lets talk actual flaws then. How about the fact that Taylor NEVER go's through his progressions, he locks on to his primary receiver everytime. How many times does he fumble or throw a pick? He makes horrible decisions a lot. The he is still developing argument is getting past it's time, he flat out isn't improving. I am not saying Brion is the answer, we haven't seen hardly anything of him to make a guess one way or another. It just seems that according to you, no one has the right to question T-marts ability without getting attacked by you. I am sorry, but T-mart isn't that good at all, and if he is the best we have, it's going to be a long next few years.
  20. Time to stop this fear of Wisconsin, they are overated!!! It's game time, GO BIG RED!!! LLLLLLLLETS GET READY TO RUMBLLLLLLLLLLLLE!!!!!
  21. To the OP, that is one of the best/reasonable posts in several days. Unfortunely, logic wont get you far around here lately. Lets look at some facts to support what the op said. It's been pointed out how over the past decade, the Big has been manhandled in Bowl games, there have been some exception but VERY FEW. Over the past 30 years we have lost to Big teams only 3 times, Iowa in the ealy Eighties, Michigan in the mid Eighties, and Penn St. in 2002. Over the last 16 years we have played Big teams 9 times. Our record is 8-1. Mich. St 3-0, Iowa 2-0, Northwestern 1-0 they were Big co Champs that year I believe and we put up 60+ points on them that night, Penn. St. 1-1, Michigan 1-0. Yes, this is in the past, but there is a measerable trend here. The Big, nine times out of ten, gets clocked in Bowl games and we traditional kill them when we played each other. Also, some of those years we were not at our best and we still beat them, see especially Us vs Michigan in the Alamo Bowl in 2005. Sorry, but some common sense has to come into play at some point around here. Like the OP said, we could lose to Wisky, but if we do it won't be a blowout. Personaly, I think we will win. Still waiting for the Freak Out level to drop about a hundred notches around here. Our best football is still ahead of us and we have been showing improvement each game.
  22. And they are ready? No one and I mean no one they have played has prepared them for the team speed they are about to get from us on Saturday. We will be fine, Shawn Watson is gone, our offence can move the ball well (I have watched them play, their D is ssssslllllooooowwwww). Also, you are not going to be seeing the experimentation we have been on D. Bo knows defence and I am not worried. Yeah...cause you know OSU is slower than crap. And Michigan plays with cinder blocks on its feet. And of course Penn State is usually full of crappy players and MSU last year wasn't fast. We're not any faster than 1/2 the B10 teams. Right because we're talking about OSU, Michigan, and Penn State... You beat me to the obvious. our mistake, here I thought we were talking about Wisconsin and my point being that they have played NOTHING but a bunch of serious cream puffs. I never said anything about those other teams. Truth be told playing Michigan in the Big House against Shoelace worries me way more than the Badgers do.
