  1. Mediocre? We're about to finish 4-8 for the third year in a row. Mediocre would be an upgrade.
  2. The turnovers weren't a big deal because he was a freshman and we saw the building blocks of a guy who had the potential of being one of the greats. He's gone backwards big time this season.
  3. Yep, and he hired Diaco. It took me awhile, but I finally got why we saw Riley sitting on the sidelines with his arms crossed. His team was getting killed game after game and there wasn't anything he could do because he wasn't Diaco's boss. I do fault him for not firing Diaco after Eichort got fired. But he probably didn't have a choice them either.
  4. Riley never got "his guys" in before being fired. I'd kill for 9-4 right now.
  5. Haha. I remember when I was about the only guy defending Taylor on this board. After he hurt his foot, people were vicious.
  6. AM won't make it to the XFL based on this season's play. As far as Smothers, he's from Alabama and neither 'bama nor Auburn are looking at him last I looked. Let's stop acting like some recruits or freshmen are going to turn this program around anytime soon.
  7. Verduzco's resume: Gavalian College San Jose State De Anza College Rutgers Northern Iowa Missouri State UCF Nebraska Not exactly a who's who of schools.
  8. Being a left coaster, I watch a lot of Pac 12 games and I've been thinking the same thing all season. Comparing Oregon and Utah to Nebraska is painful.
  9. Left because Texas and a bunch of other schools were shopping themselves to the Pac 10 leaving us with our weiners in our hands. Leaving had nothing to do with the on field product.
  10. What happened? Ziggy and Stanley covered a lot of stink. There are other issues, but these guys weren't replaced.
  11. Put our kids into a position to make plays. That means covering receivers wtih corners or safeties...not linebackers. Same idea as you. Since our linebackers constantly get caught in the wash on blitzes, send some corners and safeties off of the edge. I'd like to see some zone blitzing where we send corners and drop linemen but I'm not holding my breath. I'd like to see some quick passes out of Adrian to build some confidence in both him and the line. Get our fast guys the ball in space with slips screens, screens out of a bunch formation. Slants. Wheel routes. Running? Am I dreaming when I ask for a counter or two get get the guards and tackles moving and create match up problems? Maybe throw in a fullback to help? God I miss a power run game. Oh, and speak of running.....let 2AM run the freakin' ball.
  12. I don't think UNL's defensive ranking in 2017 is even close to a fair representation of the talent on the defense. That ranking had everything to do with Diaco's complete and utter lunacy.
  13. Absolutely. You can go back further as Riley's first class was a hodge podge of guys because he, too, got a late start after Pelini was fired. I believe those guys are seniors now. The Bo firing along with Riley's short stint and subsequent firing along with Frost's first hodge podge of recruits has been very bad from a recruiting standpoint because of two "half assed" classes. Throw in guys who left and it's no wonder this team has a talent issue along with a lack of depth.
  14. I worry about a scenario like this because it's how we got Mr. Strain. I'd like to see Frost have the kids anonymously write down what the staff does right, what they do wrong, what the staff can do to make the players better, general gripes, etc. It could be a waste of time or there could be some nuggets in there that the coaches would find useful.
  15. There is no Pac 12 offense. There are different offenses used in the league including pro style, spread and WAZZU's "Air Raid." You used the term as a pejorative and continued by saying Pac 12 teams pass more than they run. Multiple times in fact. You are not correct. I've proven that with the latest numbers from the Pac 12 website. Only 4 teams have passed more than they have run. That leaves a whopping eight who have run more including the two first place teams Oregon and Utah. The only team that really passes more than they run by design is WAZZU. The others have been put into that position because of desperation and circumstances. Oregon State, for example, has 10 more passes than rushes but they haven't had their best tailback the past two or three games. "If you're going to talk in this forum, stop spouting false information." Mainly, however, I was answering to your advice for another poster.
  16. Arizona: 286 pass/308 rush ASU: 223/280 Cal: 219/301 sCUm: 289/296 Oregon: 276/301 Fightin' Beavs: 250/240** Stanford: 283/250** UCLA: 265/333 USC: 282/261** yUtes: 185/346 UDub: 236/295 WAZZU: 418/134** Four teams in the Pac 12 have more passing attempts than rushing attempts. Those teams all have losing records and have probably had to pass more late in games to try to catch up except for WAZZU who is pass first, second and third.
  17. Are you saying Pac 12 schools pass more than they run? That is probably true of WAZZU, but nobody else. Chip Kelly's Oregon teams ran more than they passed as well.
  18. To beat Illinois? Yes, they are more than talented enough to beat Illinois. You don't want to admit it, but your golden boy coach and his staff aren't getting through to them.
  19. I can't imagine anybody having that attitude. These kids grew up being competitive and good at football. That's why I roll my eyes when people say the upperclassmen won't play for Frost or that Riley had some sort of trance placed upon them. These seemingly talented kids aren't buying in and that's a huge problem that has to be remedied very soon or this program may find itself as a doormat for years.
  20. The worst team in the "cream puff 10" is Colorado.
  21. Riley went 9-4 before being told to fire Banker. Then Diaco was hired and Riley's fate was sealed.
  22. Ooooof. There is some reality I didn't want to think about.
  23. Well, Bo was the only coach who spent quite a few years here and his D was pretty good until we joined the Big Ten.. Neither Callahan nor Riley were around that long. As for our current situation, Chin isn't ready for primetime. That is obvious.
