  1. Cy had some pretty benign posts earlier this year and was attacked by those who, I assume, didn't know Cy was a regular. I think Cy's negative retorts were aimed at those posters and not the old school ones who know Cy. Over the years, he's earned enough good will from me that I ignore his negative posts and assume they are for those less mature fans who see his name and assume he's here to troll when he is not. Or maybe Cy has turned into a big poo-poo head....;)
  2. That kid threw a lot of pics in a system that was new to him. He needed one more year. As for losing, he played on a team with a terrible defense led by a guy who never should have been hired.
  3. Is throwing the ball some special skill that only a few know the secrets of? Is there a clandestine club one just be invited to before learning the mystical art of throwing a football? McCaffrey has a weinie arm and needs to play a lot of long catch to strengthen it. He's got pretty biceps, but throwing a ball hard comes from strength in the shoulder, legs and core. Your point is valid when you compare McCaffrey to Haskins. Haskins is a big, strong kid, but learning to throw is something that can be accomplished with proper training. With that said, I seen quite a few kids who could throw a baseball through a brick wall and were skinnier than a broom but I digress... Martinez has a pretty good arm but is inaccurate. There are drills for that. There are also play calls for that and Frost needs to use them. Short, quick passes to boost his confidence and the occasional bomb to keep the defense honest. Double moves. Pick plays. Throwing 50-50 balls to single coverage guys and letting them make plays. Timing plays. I'm a Steelers fan and I love watching Roethisberger. Ben doesn't wait for guys to get open. He identifies the guys who are in one on one coverage and he throws to spots. Most times the ball is already gone before the receiver even makes his break. If there is safety help, he audibles to a run play or has the receivers run a different route. Usually something to the middle of the field to negate the safety help or have them run deep routes to clear out the middle for the tight-end. It's 3D Vulcan chess compared to what Frost is doing. The offense Frost has run the past few weeks reminds me of the 6th grade. I've been waiting for the Statue of Liberty play. On Saturdays, I usually watch all or most of the UNL games. I also watch if there is a big SEC match up. I'll also watch Oregon/Oregon State games and the Pac 12 At Night game on ESPN. These teams around the country look different than Nebraska. Nebraska looks small and slow in comparison. The offense looks disjointed and simplistic. The defense is a sieve like the Pac 12 schools. The difference is the Pac 12 schools I follow have an offense to keep up. UNL doesn't.
  4. Cy is still cool. He's just not a sunshine pusher and there are some who find that objectionable.
  5. I'd like to remind folks that Riley was 9-4 his second year. Before his third year began, he was forced to fire Banker and the AD, along with some influential boosters, hired Diaco. Diaco's defense is reason #1 why 2017 was garbage. Riley wasn't responsible for that. All this stuff about his team being soft, etc. are excuses used by some Husker fans to provide coverage for the god awful job Frost has done. There are fans so desperate for a winner, they'll lie to themselves and pretend things will get better despite no evidence of such. Heck, there are guys who said Riley's team was soft because they weren't doing back squats. That's how silly the excuses have become. Welp, they're doing back squats now and we got the supposed savior and Illi-freakin'-nois just boatraced our boys in Lincoln. Nebraska is now in last place in the West during Frost's third season. Somebody above stated Frost inherited a dumpster fire. I'd argue he's the one who lit the match. Frost ushered out players who would be very helpful today. Gebbia threw, rushed and caught a touchdown pass today. He's not good in his first year as a stater, but he's lightyears ahead of Martinez while playing with guys who got a lot less stars from recruiting services. But ushering those kids out has given the sunshine pushers another excuse. The excuse of youth. Who here really thinks this program will be clicking and challenge for the Big 10 title in two years? When Frost was hired, I danced a jig just like most others. I thought he'd bring the Oregon offense with him. I jumped off that bandwagon midway through last season. I can't deny what my eyes tell me. The team lacks talent. They lack discipline. They get pushed around easily. Their offense resembles something Notre Dame ran in the 1940's. Then there's the biggie. They aren't improving. And can we please get a center who can snap the ball.
  6. Ohhhhh, don't get me wrong. I'm saying our QB's are good. Ooooof.
  7. Who? Who runs classic option football these days besides the academies? Oklahoma isn't Alabama isn't. Notre Dame isn't running the T formation. Everybody and their sister is running some variation of Chip Kelly's offense. It's even being run in the NFL. We don't run it correctly because we still don't have the horses due to not getting impact recruits, not developing players and not retaining players. Frost supposedly ran off a bunch of guys because they weren't good enough or weren't buying into the culture. Today, Frost said they regressed culture-wise. I think Frost needs to point his thumb and really question his offensive tactics, his recruiting and, mostly, his own attitude. Maybe the culture problem is with him. Maybe he's too abrasive for the modern kids.
  8. If it makes you guys feel better, Gebbia is as accurate as a BB gun from 5000 yards.
  9. What is a new OC going to do when the two best players on offense are the QB and his backup? Besides Wandale, our receivers can't get open. The line still stinks. Speaking of the OC, what was he doing last season? Selling insurance? Frost dusted this guy off when nobody else was looking at him. That hire was a head scratcher.
  10. There is still no talent on this team. Other than Wandale, the skills guys are all crap. Talented guys can make plays in bad schemes.
  11. This offense looks like something Notre Dame ran in the 40's.
  12. No, that's not why we bailed. We bailed because many of the southern schools were looking to bail and leave us with a handful of crap. Going to the B1G was the right thing to do. Nebraska football has other issues.
  13. Last week was a result of Penn State's offensive coordinator being an idiot. Their back-up can't pass, but the OC thought he could win in the red zone by throwing the ball instead of running the ball like they did to get into the red zone.
  14. I hadn't heard that. I felt bad for Cal because both of their games had been cancelled. I'm glad the Pac 12 allowed those teams to play each other.
  15. The source is Trump's favorite doctor from Fox News Scott Atlas. He's a radiologist.
  16. It's going to be "No win, let the new coaching search begin" if he continues with this attitude. He needs to put the best 11 on the field. He's going to lose the team if they continue to lose, especially blowout losses on national TV.
  17. Agreed. OSU had all 11 defenders within 7 yards of the LOS. They did so because they knew we didn't play the players to spread them out. It's hard to win a football game within a phone booth.
  18. Of course he had a choice. These are 19-23 year olds who love playing football. Motivating these guys should have been easy and it's not like Riley had a meeting with them telling them to transfer because the next coach was the devil like Pelini did. Plus, Frost had just come off of an undefeated season and a bowl win while playing an exciting brand of offensive football. Yet, a bunch of skill players left early and then our best receiver left before this season started. There is something wrong here. Arkansas is turning things around with a new coach. Mack Brown has turned North Carolina around. Sheesh, Liberty is ranked in Hugh Freeze's second season.
  19. Are you talking about the boosters when you say "mini tyrants?"
  20. Cancer isn't contagious. Covid is. Cancer isn't necessarily preventable. Covid is. You also have numbers regarding recovery. Those numbers are for those who have survived. We still don't know what the recovery numbers are because we have absolutely no idea what will happen long term to those folks who got it. As for "robbing people of their lives," you went off of the rails there. This is school sports. If you're ticked off about a cancellation of a football game, you live a charmed life.
  21. I have the same attitude you do and I'm a cop. I just roll my eyes at their stance and watch the games.
  22. Texas cost Nebraska that AAU membership if memory serves.
  23. This guy was rejected by his local community college.
