Taylor strikes me as a guy who wants to win. Maybe he wants to win for himself, maybe he wants to win for the team, but either way a guy who wants to win isn't going to hurt his team just to piss people off. I agree with you on this, I think it's just his attitude that bothers the heck out of me. He's painfully shy. If you watch his body actions you'll see they're more about that when he's interviewed. Turn the sound off and watch you'll see what I mean. The media is aware of this too. They've really given him a pass this year. Social Media and Message Boards don't because they don't get a lot of one on one with him. If we lose another game big the papers won't be so nice. I still find it odd that the major reason we lost is because the defense sucks balls and the OC called one of the worst last five minutes of the first half a coach could, but Taylor has taken 100 times more heat from it. Don't tell me people aren't rooting for him to fail. Its bull$hit if you ask me the way he's being treated. The kid isn't perfect and yes he's got weakness but he's getting railed hard for a team loss. I am not ready to give up on Martinez. I do think he tries to hard and makes mistakes in the process that he regrets later. If the coaching staff says he is the best QB they have then I believe them, and support Taylor, the team, and the Coaches. Down here in Texas they have cornered the market for throwing QBs' under the bus. Gilbert at UT, who was a good QB, who failed under a crappy OC, and is now out the door. Also Tony Romo who has been taking hits for his poor performance this past weekend for his two interceptions that cost the Cowboys against the Lions. I hope that Taylor is able to put his whisky performance behind him as well as his criticisms. It also would be great if someone from the media department could coach him up and help him learn some of those catchy phrases that make good sound bytes on the news and he could perform better behind the microphone. It is new week and I am looking for better for the Huskers this time out.

I don't think any message board tough guys will be showing up to the game. Besides if they are I am sure the fans from both sides will handle them appropriately.

I am interested to see what kind of separation package he is getting for leaving voluntarily. I suspect that Texas will allow him a large amount of cash and a soft spot to land in Austin if he needs it. "Thanks for the memories.....Don't let the door hit you on your way out!! "

We need a poll on this one!! My vote would be penalty, ejection, and no game suspension. I guess since he wasn't ejected they want to send a message that they don't want them targeting with helmet to helmet collisions.

I was watching Oklahoma State stomp on Arizona last night. During the game they did an interview T. Boone Pickens, big time booster/donor for OSU. He stated that through his contacts OSU wants to keep the big 12(-2) together and they don't want anyone to leave, but they aren't going to threaten any legal action. Instead he states in his opinion the Conference needs to share equally revenue with all members getting the same opportunities. If this could be done they could approach other institutions to join and make the conference prosper. Fat chance Texas is going to share it's income with Baylor, ISU, let alone any one else in that conference!

Sounds like they would be minor infractions.......but I wouldn't want to have the NCAA asking questions and finding more damaging violations. But it is great entertainment to get the whorns going. Nothing like seeing the gloom and doom everywhere here in Austin!

He can learn it!! If they can teach them to play better surely they can teach him to deal more effectively with the Media. He also can learn to be a more effective leader in the huddle. Martinez is going to mature and by taking more snaps interviews he will get better.

Well should they join the SEC, Big East, etc. and get absolutely dominated? At least they have a chance to compete their first year at D1 in the Summit League and build from there. Butler and VCU seemed to make out fine with the "Big" Conferences? If they were leaving for truly greener pastures maybe they would have had less complaints for the move.

I would hope that the staff that does Media Relations for football would offer up some tips for doing media interviews. I would even invite Bo to sit down and do some scenarios on how to answer media questions after losing a game. Martinez could definitely use some help on using some cliches rather than just shooting from the hip. Martinez is a kid who is under the microscope from everyone, and it is uncomfortable. I have been around plenty of very intelligent people who fall apart when you put a microphone in front of them. Martinez had experienced the highs and the lows from last season in the media. I am sure he doesn't want to admit that it hurt him to read/hear the things that he heard. I give him credit for making an effort, it would be great if they would coach him up in this area!
