  1. Haha I had the same reaction. Great job, OP.
  2. First, I'm against it because I think it's a horrible idea. We already have the Sea of Red in the stands, but a red turf would just be too much red. Plus I really don't think the majority of the fans would like it. Second, wikipedia is not a valid source for any sort of formal information. It's ok to get a general idea from it, but not base an argument off of it. However, I myself tried to find information on it and found nothing, so it's possible that it may be true. However, if it weren't a rule, teams would know about it and you'd think that there would be more than just 1 team out of the hundreds of college football teams in the nation (including other divisions) that would color their turfs differently.
  3. Does anybody have a link to the broadcast? I know somebody put one up a week or so ago when Bo was on with Rome last time, but I don't know where to find it.
  4. Well they can't very well put the whole entire team on the depth chart. They usually go by 1's and 2's, and in others sometimes 3's and 4's (usually only 3's and 4's at the positions where a lot of players see the field i.e. wide receiver).
  5. You do realize that all of your worries is really just local media stirring the pot so we can have something to talk about? Notice how they always say "there are a lot of questions regarding this and that or so and so". Who do you think made up all those questions? The coaches sure didn't give them questions. The media takes what they get from what little a coach says after practice, and turn it into a story. Lee is going to be fine. Ganz didn't have "under the lights" issues when he first started back in 2007, and he turned into a great quarterback. Everything is a question mark till the game is played, imho. You can never accurately predict what will happen. Just subside your fears, and look forward to the glory of Husker football.
  6. From what I have heard from people across campus and various other people, he failed a drug test for marijuana for the fifth time. Now of course there is no way to prove this he failed a test this many times, but its simply what I've been hearing (and the only thing I've been hearing for that matter).
  7. I think relevance is of little consequence. You can change offenses and still be dominant, it just didn't happen for us because of bad coaching. But I do agree with you. You can still run the ball and be a dominant team. Even in the 90's, everybody was saying Nebraska was outdated and they never gave us a lot of chances in many big games, and then look what happened. Even Georgia Tech is proving that the option can work with the big boys. They took care of Georgia last year, after all.
  8. Joe Ganz said on Huskers Sports Nightly that if, after the Gator Bowl and before Witt left the team, he had to choose the next starting quarterback for Nebraska he would have picked Zac Lee. Even Ganz could see the potential in Lee at the time. We also must not forget that Lee was a championship level quarterback at a lower division. We all know the competition isn't the same at the level but still, he has game experience and people seem to forget that. Whether it is division 1 or not, it's still something to go off of. He also looked damn good in the Spring game. Take away the fact that it was a public practice against guys he has been playing with for months, he still looked good. Many questioned Ganz at this time last year, and he ended up turning into a great Husker quarterback. Maybe not one of "the greats", but a great one in his own right. Have some faith.
  9. If I'm not mistaken, the guys on Huskers Sports Nightly (1110 a.m.) talked to the FAU head coach and he said that they only return 2-3 starters on the defense. They could be headed for long day here in Lincoln.
  10. Spot on about Baylor. Yes, Griffin is an outstanding quarterback. But one player cannot win games for a team. Despite great quarterback play and a good linebacking corp, we are still more talented in all the other match ups. We have a better D and O line, our receivers will have gotten into the flow of the game by then, we have a stellar running back corp, and our secondary will be solid by this point. As far as games important to our season? I'd say winning within the Big 12 North is the most important. VaTech and Oklahoma would be good wins just for national exposure and to raise our national rank. Short of that, they don't do much for our season win or lose. I mean look at last year, the only reason we weren't big 12 north champs was because of a loss to Missouri. Take care of business in the North, and we're in good shape. We can still have a successful season with losses to OU and VaTech.
  11. Yeah as I mentioned above he called it the Tandem T offense... he didn't last long and neither did the two QB system. Two QB systems very rarely work. Just look at Colorado. The last two seasons they have been using Cody Hawkins and the other guy whose name I can't remember. And what do they have to show for it? Two guys who aren't very good and under .500 seasons.
  12. Yeah, very little chance he will redshirt now. If Kody Spano was still in the mix, who knows? Even if Cody Green was good enough to take the back up spot they might have just let him redshirt since they had enough depth at the position. But, I'm pretty sure the coaches don't want to not play their best players just so they can have him an extra year. I think that's unfair to Cody. If he is good enough to be #2, then he deserves to play whenever he can. Pelini even said in a press conference they want to play to win now. That doesn't mean they aren't thinking of the future as well, but they want the best players on the field.
  13. You're going to take the good with the bad with Green. Hopefully there's more good than bad. But let's not name him our starter quite yet when we've got a guy with college-level experience already running the show. Let's at the very least give ZLee the FAU game before calling for Green to come in. Can we hold off that long? Agreed. I think the important thing to realize is that Watson was simply saying he made a great call for how young he is. What Green did is probably some Zac does on a consistent basis. If that wasn't the case, the qb battle between the two would be closer than it is. If Zac Lee is the clear cut starter, obviously he's been doing a lot of great things in practice.
  14. Pumps me up to see this kid play. Hopefully the FAU game is over by the end of the third quarter, and then he can play the entire fourth quarter.
  15. Careful there. Colorado's roster is as talented as anyone's in the North. Their big problem last year was injuries. If they're healthy, they're able to win some games. True, but with Hawkins being there for four years and failing to put up a better than .500 season, I think they will likely do the same again this year. Even with healthy players, the strength of that team will be the running game. Their quarterbacks are not good at all. I'd rather take Zac Lee into battle as an untested starter than either of the two guys they have. If you can force them to be one dimensional and the run the ball a lot, their offensive line isn't going to overpower any one consistently for four quarters of play.
  16. I think we can sum up this thread quickly. 1) 95 Nebraska > 01 Miami. It is simple fact. Nebraska didn't struggle against a single team in 95, and won every game by 2 or more touchdowns WHILE playing 3 top 10 teams. Are some of you going to say those top 10 teams were overrated? They had damn good seasons minus the hiccups against Nebraska. 2) NO self respecting husker fan can go against the 95 team, in any situation. Just because 01 Miami sent half their roster (exaggeration ) to the NFL does not mean they were the better team. Eric Crouch had a lame duck NFL career, but does that take away from his college career? Not in the least bit. 3) Kirk Herbie did act slightly unprofessional in that poll. It's ok to get into heated discussion, but when you start throwing paper and letting out sarcastic remarks (i.e. "I'm just wondering why the 97 Nebraska team isn't on here..") then you've gone slightly overboard. 4) If you are arguing with Knapplc about his choice of words, you are fighting a losing battle. That's just the way he is and it makes things interesting. I'm sure he respects others opinions, but not when they are unfounded and poorly constructed.
  17. Yeah, and that's what they said when Nebraska went down to face Florida. Everybody was saying things like: 1) Nebraska's offense will sputter and won't score points against the talented Florida defense, saying Florida had "too much speed". 2) Nebraska's defense would be ripped apart by the "fun n' gun" offense of Steve Spurrier. 3) They even went as far to say that we wouldn't be able to compete on a grass field because we played on field turf. And what happened? Nebraska hangs up 62 points, only gives up 24, and led 35-10 going into half. I'm baffled out how you can be a Husker fan and realistically think that Miami of '01 was a better team. Nebraska didn't win a game by fewer than 2 touchdowns the whole season. You make no sense.
  18. I think he'd prefer another job, even though he was there previously.
  19. Probably not. It might be the same structure (i.e. looking at a digital composite of the stadium as Husker greats highlight some of their best plays), but I expect it to have different highlights and maybe another twist. They usually change it up year to year.
