  1. He looks like the type of "high-character" kid we could use at Nebraska. Instant offer! How many other big programs are offering him? I assume Alabama, USC, & Notre Dame....
  2. I guess some of us didn't care for the praise heaped upon a team, that wouldn't stand up to our team head to head, that will probably have more sanctions against them than Iran here in the next couple years... A boy can dream! I've always thought Saban was dirty, but time will tell. The NCAA seems really reluctant to punish anyone in the SEC lately. I mean you can pay a father so that a player can win you a National Championship, but don't go getting any free tattoos or textbooks!
  3. I really don't know who would win. Both teams have great coaching, great defenses, and great running games. It would be fun either way.
  4. Get me some popcorn, this is entertaining. YOU'RE BOTH RIGHT! Is it good that we are one of 4 teams that has won at least 9 wins over the last couple of years...yes. Impressive that we have won 9 games, not so sure. Have we been good over the last couple years...yes. Have we been impressive...hell no! I am tired of the blowouts, but I do look for signs of progress that will help soothe my hurt Husker fan ego. It's not a black and white issue; there are areas to be proud of & areas of concern. Enjoy the ride people! We will get back at some point. When???? Who knows when. It worries me that a large chuck of our fan base doesn't seem to understand that there are 130 other FBS teams that want to win 3 national titles in 4 years like `Bama did last night and Nebraska did in the 90's. Something tells me that a good chunk of the frustration on this board in the last 12 hours is more related to `Bama's performance last night than Nebraska's on New Years Day.
  5. Living in the great white North, I would love to see some updates. How are things going on the stadium updates?
  6. Be the Best. Best citizens, best fans, best teams, best people. Does this mean that we always win...no. Does it mean that we don't get blown-out like we did (way to much) this season...no. It means that we hold ourselves to a higher standard, one that is difficult to achieve. I personally believe that we are trending towards the lofty goals that Bo, and the fans, have set for the program. Enjoy the ride people, the bumps and low points are part of the fun.
  7. What he's stating is that he thinks the football program sucks and Bo is a bad coach. No matter how often people want to state it. It just isn't true. Even if they point out the bad losses they aren't looking at the body of work as a whole and it speaks very highly compared to other programs across the nation. Okay, that makes more sense. We are one of a hand full of programs that in the last 5 years have one 9 games each year, I know he hasn't brought a trophy back to Lincoln yet but the man is doing a great job. It would set us back longer if he left. This.
  8. Agreed. I also have reservations about all the hype towards Armstrong and Stanton. I guess we have just been burned too many times. People tend to fall in love with players before they even see the field. Hit the nail on the head. Ever since BC days we've been hungry Husker fan waiting to bit on any positive red meat news that we think will return us to 'elite' standing. Most of us are now on kool aid overdose and are trying to withdraw from it and be a bit more cleared eye about things. I think most of the 'negative' posters (so labeled by those who never want to hear a discouraging word) on the forum fit this mode. They are true Husker "patriots" but burned by misinformation, hype, and the reality they see on the field . A "REAL" Husker "patriot" would never overdose on the kool-aid. Nut up butter-cup! :wasted That said, I do have faith in Armstrong and Stanton as well as the redshirts that I hope will become blackshirts. I hit my days where I get pessimistic, but I have faith that Bo & company will turn this around! GBR!
  9. Is it possible that all of the doom & gloom that is being predicted here will happen....yes. Is equally possible that the kool-aid drinkers could be right....yes! Notre Dame (2011) - 29th in total defense, averaging 20.9 points & 348.8 yds per game Notre Dame (2012) - 1st in total defense, averaging 10.3 points & 288.1 yds per game Nebraska (2012) - 56th in total defense, averaging 26.2 points & 343.1 yds per game. Say Nebraska makes the same jump in points per game and yards per game Notre Dame did... Mythical (2013) Nebraska - averaging 15.6 points & 282.4 yds per game would rate them in the top 10 in total defense. Now is it possible that we get worse? VT (2011) 8th in total defense, (2012) 40th... Temple (2011) 3rd in total defense, (2012) 89th...YES! I will grant and respect the opinions and beliefs of those who wish to be upset and angry after this season...but I prefer to act and think positively. I personally have faith in the coaches that they will turn this thing around, and if I am wrong I will be the first to eat crow.
  10. Wouldnt it be the sh#ts if the spring game got cancelled again? hahaha. Living in the waste-land that is Fargo, ND I am planning on trying to get down to see it. If it gets cancelled again I will be very sad Panda. That said, it is entertaining watching everyone gush over Craig Bohl.
  11. Me too! I may have gotten into the Kool-Aid again, but I just don't believe that Pelini has missed the recruiting boat that badly. It's gonna be a long off-season. When is/will there be the Spring Game?!?!
  12. That is unless the State of Pennsylvania's lawsuit against the NCAA has any teeth. PSU claims to have no part in this, but it smells like a recruiting pitch to me. "Don't worry about coming to Penn St...we really think that the sanctions will be reduced or even thrown out!" That said.... my contributions to the predictions... Call #1 - Offense opens up even more with depth at QB, I feel as though we have been protective of Martinez the last 2 years because we didn't trust the back-up. With Armstrong and Stanton on campus, Beck completely opens up the offense & we see some great play. Call #2 - Opened up offense helps O-Line dramatically. With the ability to strike in every facet of the spread offense, the O-Line will have a better "push." Call #3 - Young D-Line doesn't live up to all of the promise we hope they will. This will be the weakest part of the team. Call #4 - The back-7 of the D will play significantly better with an upgrade in speed. Blow-outs won't happen, but due to youth throughout the defense I foresee some 31-27 games. Call #5 - A great season by the Huskers, one that really messes with the head of Husker fans. A slow but steady progression on defense leads to the NW, Mich, MSU, & PSU stretch, something tells me that they will get through this unscathed. Final Call - 12-2. Undefeated into the B1G CCG, OSU has too much talent, close game. Same with a BCS appearance v. an SEC team or Florida State. Wyoming--W Southern Miss--W UCLA--W (close, but we're playing much better at home lately!) SDSU--W Illinois--W (people will be upset though we didn't win by 30) @ Purdue--W (first road test...close through 3, pull away in 4th) @ Minnesota--W (much too tough for a fan's liking...people will begin to get nervous) Northwestern--W (defense will look a touch shaky, but see above comment about home) @ Michigan--W (following shaky outings, everyone will be off the bandwagon. Our defense will keep it close in a negative way...in the end, I just don't believe in Hoke.) Michigan State--W (everyone back on bandwagon, game turns into slugfest...way too close, toss-up) @ Penn State--W (another close one, toss-up) Iowa--W (Iowa is looking for a new coach) BIG CCG - Likely OSU, but don't sleep on WISC - L (heartbreak, crying in beer, idiot Pelini hack-tivists puff up) BCS Game (Calling Sugar Bowl v. Bama) - L (close game throughout, defense just a touch too young)
  13. Meh. I'm fine with Indy. On face I love the idea of moving around, I just don't think you'll find a location that does what Indianapolis does.
  14. Come now, before 2011 every Big Ten game was a championship game. Advantage - Wisconsin. Also, if each player were forced to down a six pack before the game Wisconsin would win handedly. This would also greatly increase TV ratings. I'm not so sure on this....legend has it the real reason papuchis tapes his fingers before games is to increase his grip in his pregame 40. ***sarcasm hand raised high****
  15. After reading their forum, it appears to me that they are just pissed that it is a Nebraska tradition. Since they can't defeat Nebraska on the field they are coming up with lame excuses in a vain attempt to win something. I get the feeling that if they were beating up on Minnesota in that time slot the hospital parking and mythical student attendance issue would be a non-factor.
  16. Hockey first. Brand new arena + fan base (`Skers & Stars fans = blasty) + screwing UNO = Sounds fun!
  17. I'll stand with you on this! Kansas has just as much football tradition as Mizzery, has an impecable basketball tradition, would bring the K.C. metro, and is a good school located in a miserable town. To me, it is the benefits of Mizzou without the baggage. They are certainly no worse than Maryland and Rutgers!
  18. I would like one more team from the `ol Big 8. In terms of fit Kansas would be my #1...it comes with the added benefit of giving ONE MASSIVE middle finger to Mizzery.
  19. I think the comments had some of the best lines...my favorite = Yost: Nebraska? All in favor say I. Mzoners: We need the dues. Yost: Good. Nebraska is now a pledge to the Big10. Next slide, please. Mzoners: BOOOOOO!! Yost: Just a minute! Just settle down! This is Maryland. They're a legacy from the ACC. Now wait a minute! Okay, this team is a real zero. That's true. Think back to when you were admitted to the Big10. Michigan State, you were a drunk and stupid little sh#t, right? And Ohio State here. Everybody thought that the Buckeyes were brain damaged. I myself was so superior that I beat teams every single week for decades. So this team is a total loser? Well let me tell you the story of another loser.....
  20. I sincerly hope this is not true, and if ends up being so...I will have more ammunition for my distain for Iowa.
  21. +1 - Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity. Nebraska has put themselves in a position to do well, and have prepared themselves effectively to win the game!
  22. Their defense is good, but really only on pass defense. Their rushing defense ranks 7th in the B1G. That plays right to our strength. This can shorten the game and limit the number of touches Denard has. Think the run defense is better than you think. Air Force and Bama kind of skew that statistic. Was this the Air Force team that beat Idaho State by 28 (we beat them by 66), the one that beat Wyoming and New Mexico by a combined 6 points, or the offensive juggernaut that is trailing Indiana in total offense this year?
