  1. If you want me to be more specific, this offense sets up big plays in the running game with passing game success much more than the opposite. My belief is that our fantastic YPC average running this year has a direct correlation to the success of the passing game. I do not know that Cross is capable of lining up and Leornard Fournetting opposing defenses on his own skill alone. Nor that the coaching staff will attempt that. They played exceptionally well last week. Best game of the year by far. Even so, they did a ton of damage through the air. I still do not believe we're a team that consistently line up and run over teams.
  2. He called exactly what people were asking for. Running it and then short passes/screens. So TA throws it right to an DL and that is Langs fault? Both of Rutgers TD's are on TA's lack of intelligence, and nobody else. This boards obsession with blaming the coaches for the players screwing up is beyond ridiculous. That play could've been less "cute" if you ask me, JMO. If you can't see the poor game management by the coaching staff well there is nothing I can do about that. You have to be willfully myopic to not see the staff is inhibiting the kids via their playcalling. This offense needs a series to string together--a 'win', if you will. Chucking the f*****g ball on 3rd and 4 downfield 40 yards is unnecessary--running and getting 4+ is, so you focus on getting the kids some 'wins' on offense, and string together a drive. Keep running the f*****g ball, and when Rutgers starts to cheat against the run, THEN you go to the air. It's not f*****g rocket science, except to this staff, apparently. You are not seeing the other WR's that aren't running 40 yards downfield? That is on TA for throwing it deep instead they of throwing to a WR or TE that is on a shallow route. We shouldn't have been throwing it on those downs. That's on the coaching staff, and they keep making decisions that put this team in a position to lose.Up 21-0 why are we airing it out instead of pounding it out? Down 21-7 with a minute left, and we go to the air again! Then, after getting a first down from 3 runs we throw a screen at the line. TA isn't the tallest QB, of course he's gonna throw it to a spot if he can't see their guy. On a day when we are gashing them on the ground, why not run more? This isn't the 1920's when the forward pass was illegal. The runs have been set up by the pass, if you can't see that then there is nothing I can say to help you. Passing to setup the run is a unresponsible at best when your QB's passing is not your strong suit. How are you supposed to do it the other way when your OL sucks? They are better at pass blocking than they are at run blocking. They are playing to the OL "strengths." Maybe someday when we get some better OL we can be good at both, but as of now the OL limits what we can do. Nailed it. Our offense is a lot like ogres guys. And onions. It has... layers.
  3. So, you like TA's passing as the emphasis in this offense?Nope. He's been great at times and God-awful at others. That's TA. But it's what we've got. Fans are delusional if they think this offense is going to magically morph into a run-reliant one any time soon. It's pass-reliant, like it or not. Coaches sticking to their guns and coaching THEIR system. I like it.
  4. Jeez. Kyle Flood coaching like Bo Pelini circa last year. Guy who knows he's gone.
  5. Beast run by Cross there. That was off a draw. That was set up by our PASSSING. We got stuffed when we tried to run right at them immediately after. Then we PASSED for the TD. It's all conceptual folks. Some just don't get it.
  6. Bitch about the minutiae as much as you want. NU is 2nd in the conference in scoring at 33.9 PPG. It's been a growing pains kind of year all around, but Langs is obviously doing something right.
  7. Langsdorf knows his QB has 54% completion percentage and makes boneheaded mistakes. So no, it's not just on TA. Yes it is, and if you don't see that then you have an unhealthy obsession with blaming everything on the coaching staff. TA doesn't have really andy strengths other than extending a play with his feet so if you "play to his strengths" then we wouldn't throw the ball at all.Bull. With him, you can go ZR, ZR PA, PA boot, move the pocket, roll out, etc. Basically a lot of stuff DL doesn't want to do TA, in a correct system as you described above would be deadly IMO. An OC who calls to this and we could be sitting very pretty right now.Until he tweaks his ankle even worse and we wind up with multiple games of Fyfe at QB and possibly the 2010 offense post TM ankle injury all over again. Love the idea of TA in that offense. Doubt he'd hold up all season.
  8. Some on here won't blame the players for anything. They only blame the coaches.Up 21-0 and then 21-7 going into the wind isn't the time you air out the ball. Run out the half, maybe call some quick slants (maybe). But dont give up the momentum to Rutgers. We might lose this game because of those picks. All the blame goes on Langs. He's an OC straight out of the NFL. Did you not expect him to be in two minute offense mode? Personally, I'm glad our coaches have the cojones to try and score instead of being conservative. I don't like playing not to lose.
  9. Tommy's been damn near perfect throwing everything and anything en route to 21 point lead. So Langs is suddenly a moron for continuing what's been working. Not sure I like that logic.
  10. Langsdorf knows his QB has 54% completion percentage and makes boneheaded mistakes. So no, it's not just on TA. It's on both. Pick #2 is more on TA for looking to hit the home run instead of taking something safer.
  11. ^^^Definitrly getting ready to expose himself to that cheerleader. GBR!!!
  12. Mods, still having troubles accessing site on mobile/tablets. Have reset both. Still saying I'm either banned or there's some type of error. Any advice?

My phone does the same weekly, have to reset each time. Sometimes if I use a different browser it works too.

Where are you trying to access from?

Sometimes the mods can ban IP groups if a banned user frequently logged on at work or a business. I know I can't access HB at the airport because of EZ-E lol

  13. Cool stat of the day: Sparty hadn't relinquished a 12-point lead in at least five seasons.

We own the 4th quarter this year. Well, except for the last 10 seconds.

  14. As much as we'd like to imagine we're the only traditional power that can't get things right, imagine being Tejas right now. People raved about the Charlie Strong hire too. Crazy how things change.
  15. Hopefully we're talking about this as a turning point as well years from now. A good one. GBR!

  17. So we didn't hold up all night? We got 0 pressure on Cook last night. He carved us up for the most part, with some missed big throws and even a few genuinely well defensed passes mixed in. That's mostly a reflection of the MSU offensive line. Our DL has been pretty good about getting pressure as the season has worn on. Their OL was legit.
  18. Iowa fans. I don't live up there, but the facebook connections I have, yeesh. Iowa fans spend more time talking about Nebraska than they do their own damn team. Example: I live in Iowa. They are nearly unbearable. You'd think they were Alabama the way they talk up thier powerhouse team.Been there, done that. I'm sure the talk preseason was about how they were all sick of Ferentz and wanted him gone... Until they started churning out wins against their awful schedule. Now they're all smiles and high fives and hand that man another extension. WOW. That quote is soooo.... Iowa fan. "I'd admit he was out of bounds." Lol
  19. Gotta think good news emerges soon after a game like that last night. Bummer KJJ didn't make it up. He got to see USC make a less rousing comeback over Zona last night.
  20. Mike Riley told the players they wouldn't be getting sprinkles on their ice cream if they committed a penalty in the 2nd half. Bah gawd it worked! You stole my joke. Or helped spread it, depending on the royalties.
  21. Holy cow man. Ease up a bit on that one. Plax is indeed salty though. Glad someone mentioned Clapgate regarding fairness. Pot, meet kettle. Lol DB rode Reilly out of bounds off the snap. Correct call. But man... Who else got shades of Texas '09 with the one second? Oy!
  22. We definitely won the kicking game tonight. I bet the guy from MSU caught all kids of flak for getting trucked by Jano and booting one out of bounds.
  23. Well, the game thread is officially a cesspool of negativity... ***eyeroll***
