  1. We didn't technically bring in Grant per say. The kid never stepped foot on campus. I was just reading a good article on it by Dirk C. this afternoon... in Husker Football section.
  2. John Ritchie on ESPN First Take... "Bill Callahan is the best Oline coach in the NFL." It's too weird to hear that.

Bill Callahan is a great OL couch. Just not a good head coach.

I dont know if he is the best OL coach..... but he would be an upgrade than what we have now coaching the position.

  3. HOT NEW piece of info about Mr. Peat. According to Pandora, Todd Peat Jr. likes the song "Juicy" by Notorious BIG.
  4. Reading a OWH article about our latest basketball commit, Will Shields son. Apparently, we're also interested in a 6'11", 210 lb. center prospect living with the family, who the article says has been playing WR in football, which has slowed his recruiting. Holy mother of god, how do you defend a 6'11" wideout?!

I'm pretty sure Purdue had a 7ft dude a while back. Not 100% though.

  5. Here are some sliders for anybody that wants to play on All Madden but not have it be retarded hard. I'm still going to try and tweak it a little bit, but they're a good place to start. Won my first game with these 45-21 (Eagles vs. Giants). All Madden Sliders
  6. We won. They didn't. I'll take the result. Ding ding ding. For anybody that tries to claim Oregon looked better than NU yesterday... the end result is that we are 1-0 and will remain in the top 10, and Oregon is 0-1 and going to tumble. Not to mention that Oregon had a frosh turn the ball over 3 times on his own, and one more TO to boot. None of our boys put the ball on the ground like that, aside from possibly that opening kickoff where Abdullah couldn't cover up the ball. There is absolutely no way anyone should be comparing us to LSU or Oregon or OU or Bama or anyone else at this point. It doesn't matter if we looked better or worse than Oregon, because we did not have to open our season at LSU. We won, we're 1-0, and we should take things week by week before we demanding perfection right away. My main argument point is highlighted in red above. How quickly people have forgotten we are just starting the first game of a new era in NU football. An era without Watson's "brilliance" and multiplicity running the offensive show. I don't know how we can expect an offense that totally relied on that man's leadership to be completely fixed and firing on all cylinders the first game of Tim Beck's OC career. Not to mention that our head coach is a defensive-minded coach who has little to do with running the offense. Give Beck a little slack, folks. So far, he looks to have improved the turnover and penalty issues, which have provided some super headaches for a long time. Let's take some time before we denounce him and declare ourselves happy to go 8-4 and Gator Bowl bound. Yesterday did absolutely nothing to temper my expectations for the season. I still think we play in the B1G Championship game and a BCS bowl game, hopefully the national championship. I do expect things to improve, obviously. I think this just goes back to a recurring theme I've noticed in my short life-- doesn't matter what you're talking about or what situation you're in: a lot of people just really like to bitch.

Why? Don't get it. All they do is win. Plug in new parts and win. A testament to Chris Peterson. Having the best QB in college doesn't hurt either.

  8. Bing, wang, boom. Stafford laid the wood like I haven't seen a Blackshirt do in forever (and not get suspended for a game... Yep, looking at you Beebe. Good to know our kicking game is in good hands, and feet... Maher. Abdullah was about one little thing away from two big returns today. Our return game should be fine this year... Looks like there is life post-Niles Paul.
  9. Noticed Persa won't play in NW's first game vs. Boston College. He is going to be replaced by a sophomore QB named Kain Colter... weren't we in on that kid during his recruiting cycle?

  10. Aww yeah. Time to break in Madden later tonite...

  11. Just got a Mitsubishi 72" TV for the dorm room tonite. Yeah, that'll do.

I live in the dorms at UNO... they're apartment style, so we have quite a bit more room than traditional dorms. Best part of all is we Craigslisted it for $200. Split it four ways. We lovingly christened it "Size Does Matter."

  12. Bout damn time we got some muscle to balance out Diaz's estrogen and Almeida's BMI. I think he could be a really legitimate 4 for us.
  13. Is anyone besides me looking forward to Madden 12 more than NCAA 12 this year? I have enjoyed NCAA, but it took some major slider tweakage and the game still feels really off sometimes and makes me almost implode. I'm the type of guy who likes to win at everything I do, though, so that doesn't help. I'm hoping Madden feels better to me than this... and I'm eager to check out the new Franchise and possibly Superstar modes. Thinking I might finish up a few more seasons in my franchise to get them for my Madden draft classes, and sell this game once Madden ships.
  14. Regardless of superstition... I'm throwing caution to the wind here. Here's hoping absolutely NOTHING happens to Anthony Blue this year. This kid bleeds Husker red, and looked like a stud before any of his knee issues occurred. Gotta feel for the guy. He's in his early 20's and probably feels like a gimp already. Stay healthy man!
  15. Eagles signed Cullen Jenkins to a 5 year deal today. Dang it's a good time to be an Eagles fan!

  16. Do you have a link for the sliders you're using? Heisman Sliders There are the ones I've been using. I did tweak them quite a bit to make them more to my liking, but I cannot post mine since I am sitting in a McDonald's in Misery right now. I will post later when I have time. I like these sliders better than default Heisman. Cranking Interceptions down to 35 really helps cut down on ever other throw getting picked. And lower the Player Min Speed Threshold helps runningbacks be more effective. For instance, if you squirt through a hole running, a defensive tackle won't disengage real quick and run you down from behind. Totally unrealistic. Those are a good starting point... and you can adjust to your liking. It's amazing how much better YOU can make the game on your own.
  17. Just tested my Heisman sliders out for the first time. I played Ohio State. Game Stats: OSU: 0 7 0 7 14 NU: 0 0 7 14 21 OSU NU Score: 14 21 First Downs: 13 19 Total Offense: 308 361 Rushes/Yds/TD: 23/62/2 50/165/2 Comp/Att/Yds/TD: 12/21/246/0 15/20/196/1 Int/Fumbles Lost: 2/0 0/0 Penalties/Yds: 3/29 1/10 T.O.P: 10:11 21:49 OSU QB: Notes: Overall, this felt great. An amazing game for me. It was a great game all the way through. I was playing on default Heisman, and wound up going into halftime down 17-3 and 7-3 (with them about to score) to OHIO (NOT OSU) a couple weeks before this game, so I had had it with the unrealistic play of default Heisman. These sliders felt AWESOME. Cranking the Player Min Speed Threshold down helps immensely. The speedier players actually get the advantage they should have and this helps get the running game off the ground. I am no longer pulling my hair out from a DB stepping in front every other pass and picking it off with ease. It helped that I actually learned how to step into throws in the game too, though. Anyway, we played a great game right down to the 4th quarter, where I scored to go up 14-7. They end up getting the ball back with about 2 minutes left and I fail to stop their O... Tie game. We get it back with 40 seconds left. A holding call and an incomplete pass later, I'm looking at 3rd and 20. I audible to 4 Verticals out of shotgun and they blitz their CB on my 3 WR side. A lob up to my outside guy works perfectly and he ends up burning their D as time expires. Great, great game. So much more fun than I was having. I'd recommend anyone that feels AA is too easy give these sliders a try. They make Heisman so much more realistic and not cheesy.
  18. Actually I found him to be somewhat realistic in his passing, at times it's stellar but other times he over throws em on a wide open td or throws behind on a slant route. But I really think he is ridiculously underrated in his running. It seems like they didn't even touch his running ratings from last and sometimes he even seems slower. Zac Lee was faster in this game last year and could run any option better than Taylor can this year. I bumped his acceleration up to 90 and it still didn't feel right so I had to put it at 99 and put his speed up to 90 and it felt pretty close to what he looks like. I honestly feel for players like him and Dennard and a few others they need to rewrite acceleration these guys first steps just can't be created in this game. On a side note anyone else really struggling with NU's line they absolutely abysmal in all areas. I play on heisman by the way... My take: Heisman is still absolute horsecrap to play on. The game isn't challenging... it's unrealistic. Twice now I started the fourth game of my 2nd season against Ohio (I didn't feel like playing an FCS team and thought the Solich connection would make for a fun game), only to nearly tear my hair out by halftime being down both times 17-3 and 7-3 with them about to score. There are always issues with the lines on Heisman, this is the game's way of compensating. But there is no way the Ohio front seven totally owns NU's O Line and sheds them like rag dolls to shut TMart, Burkhead, and A Green down. I know NU's offensive line isn't the best in the nation, but no way Ohio University dominates them. The CPU pass rush definitely needs cranked down, and I've noticed that you have to release the ball earlier with a Dlineman in your face than in years past. If you don't get it off a good half second faster than last year you're gonna get sacked... I have definitely issues with this. Obviously CPU and User interceptions need cranked down as well. Far far too many passes simply have some random LB/DB step in front of them and pick them off. I just found a set of Heisman sliders here and I'm going to test them out to see if they make things more bearable: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/ncaa-football-sliders/493187-ibo247s-ncaa-12-heisman-sliders-5.html
  19. This is an unnecessarily pessimistic interpretation of what happened. Most people felt Lee would start because he had started the previous year, and we had done well under him. When Martinez got the gig, most people simply supported him because he's a Husker, not out of some bandwagon fandom. All times are in Central Time. Would you really say we did well under Lee, Knapp? I mean, perhaps against the Sun Belt. But the same lee that piloted us to 10 points in the OK game? The same one on the field in the ISU game? That threw a pick the first offensive play after we got the momentum back from that pick in the Big 12 Title game? I will say he could've done worse in the CU and KU games. The Arizona game was an offensive anomaly for the whole team.

  22. Need to look below his height & weight. He meant tagged onto the end of Michael's name on his profile, Nexus.
  23. Which one are you guys looking forward to more? I'd obviously venture to guess NCAA, as most of you are raring to go with DONU, and I myself usually enjoy NCAA more, but honestly from a totally objective standpoint, it sounds like all the upgrades to Franchise and Superstar in Madden outweigh the coaching carousel and addition of dreads in NCAA But it's all a matter of opinion.
  24. I know just how you feel! I prefer JIF. Anyway, lame pun aside, UCLA football commits go there for the education and lifestyle, definitely not the football (at least at this point). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWOsbGP5Ox4
