      Well, I think the idea is he gets 12. It doesn't read like "loaves += 12", it reads like "loaves = 12", so loaves is overwritten.

       

      But there's always room for interpretation :D

      What if it said:

      >Get loaf of bread.

      >Then, IF raining, get loaf of bread.

      >Then, IF you see a homeless man, get loaf of bread.

       

      So if it was raining and he saw a homeless man would he come home with one loaf or three?
