  1. Yeah, this is the federal case against the ncaa. I'm sure you're right that there will be a civil suit brought against UNL. So we have that to look forward to.
  2. Smokers Hospitalized Less Often for COVID-19 April 29, 4:07 p.m. www.webmd.com Few of those hospitalized with the coronavirus are smokers, and researchers are trying to understand why, according to VICE. One hypothesis is that nicotine, which has anti-inflammatory properties, may interfere with the way that COVID-19 causes an overreaction of the immune system. The hypothesis comes from Konstantinos Farsalinos, a cardiologist in Greece who focuses on tobacco-use reduction. Farsalinos noticed that few COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized in China were smokers, though about half of men in the country smoke. LINK ====================================================== So ... how many packs per day should I smoke?
  3. The I-Land on Netflix. I think I made it through half an episode.
  4. What is the gist of the article? (Since I don't have a free subscription to The Athletic.)
  5. Do you know anyone personally who has died from Covid-19?

@ZRod where do you live at, if you don't mind me asking? At least in Lincoln/Omaha, I haven't heard anything about antibody tests being available. Would take one in a heartbeat if offered...

But hey, the state is open for business next week! ;)

Some of the hospital systems here are offering them to employees to further their research. It's a catch 22 though because they've treated their employees pretty s#!tty at some hospitals. Makes you wonder; do you really want to make them look good, and could they use it against you to make you work a positive floor or overtime.

My mother-in-law is a nurse in Denver and she had an antibody test as has most (all?) of the staff at her hospital.

  6. Hoiberg, NAPL Team To Maximize Potential For Huskers By Brian Rosenthal www.huskers.com 4/23/2020 8:29:00 PM <snip> "When I first saw NAPL, I was blown away at everything that we can do," Hoiberg said. "I've never seen that before, and I've been to a lot of different facilities. When I was working in the NBA, my job was to go and scout different players, and I was able to see a lot of facilities. I'd never seen anything like NAPL until I got here at the University of Nebraska. "When recruits see the NAPL facility and everything that's involved in it and all the information that we can gather from the testing that we do, and how we can improve the players as they progress with their career at the University of Nebraska, I think it's a great tool to have. I think the recruits see that, and I think the families see that." LINK ============================================== Great article and even better video about the Hoiberg using the NAPL in Nebrasketball.
  7. Rutgers, heh. I suspect that's more about the author needing avoid saying Rutgers will get skunked in the B10. He had to name some possible win for them. Sadly, we might be perceived as their best chance. No way in hell it'll happen though.
  8. Two men in Georgia drank disinfectants in efforts to prevent COVID-19, officials say BY ARIS FOLLEY - 04/28/20 03:48 PM EDT LINK =============================================================== Okay, okay. That's not the photo in the article. But it sure could be! lol
  9. It's quite possible our point guard is on some other team's roster right now. Oh, I'm just kidding. Or am I?
  10. Woo hoo! Hoiberg is shooting 57% from the portal line!
  11. (*) Otto Warmbier was the college student who was imprisoned for 15 years hard labor in North Korea for stealing a propaganda poster from his hotel. He died 17 months later after being released in a comatose state, and being returned to the U.S. ====================== Yeah, I voted for Joe last month in the primary. Because he was the only choice, basically. And I've never voted for Trump. It's a sad state of affairs. I don't like either side. So I mock both.
  12. Well, we'll soon have golf again in my town. With restrictions--which I agree is a good idea. No groups larger than twosomes. Tee times 15 minutes apart. No carts unless there's a medical reason the golfer cannot carry (or pull) their clubs. And weirdly, can't use the practice greens or driving range. (Not sure of the rationale for that last one. But the other restrictions make sense.) This is what the governor should have done in the first place.
  13. Nice pickup! Literally the size of a pickup too!
  14. How is it possible that Joe is the best the Democratic party has to offer?
  15. Pentagon confirms 3 videos showing "unidentified aerial phenomena" By Stefan Becket 39 mins ago www.msn.com Washington — The Pentagon on Monday formally released three unclassified videos taken by Navy pilots that have circulated for years showing interactions with "unidentified aerial phenomena." One of the videos shows an incident from 2004, and the other two were recorded in January 2015, according to Sue Gough, a Defense Department spokeswoman. The videos became public after unauthorized leaks in 2007 and 2017, and the Navy previously verified their authenticity. LINK
  16. No church yesterday so I decided to clear out a giant stump of a toppled tree from our back yard. The tree blew over in a wind storm several years ago. It was a maple about 40 inches in diameter, and stood about 40 feet high. I had a crew saw up the tree and haul it off shortly after the storm. But they wanted a small fortune to take the toppled stump away. So it has just sat in my yard for the last several years. Sort of an eye sore. After a lot of cutting, prying and splitting I managed to whittle part of it down into chunks small enough for me to lift into my truck. I hauled about half of it away yesterday. Damn, that was a lot of work.
  17. So it would be better for the kid riding the pine to stay put to avoid taking the starting job of some kid at another school? Damn that Joe Burrow for taking some poor LSU QB's job away. Damn him to hell!
  18. No, I think you were right. If you check out Jeff Smith's bio he got five years including his redshirt year and the year he played on the freshman team. LINK
  19. Heh, I did not know that. Always thought playing on the freshman team was done in a redshirt year.
  20. So you get one Husker legend to bring back... By BRIAN CHRISTOPHERSON87 mins <snip> Ndamukong Suh ran away with it in the end, receiving 47.8 percent of the vote. Despite Nebraska's QB depth, Tommie Frazier was the next highest vote-getter with 8.5 percent. Defensive lineman Grant Wistrom was third with 7.8 percent, with Husker fans envisioning the rush end presence and winning pedigree he could provide to the D-line. Center Dave Rimington came in after that with 6.6 percent of the vote. Voting for a guy who has a trophy named after him is rarely a bad idea. Rounding out our top five was a tie (5.37 percent) between Johnny Rodgers and Lavonte David. Rodgers could bolster the Husker wide receiver room and the return game at the same time. David could erase a lot of mistakes at his linebacker spot. LINK ====================================================================== Suuuuhhhh!
