  1. It usually isn't all that amazing of information. And it is not always correct.
  2. How come when Riley was at OSU he was the amazing A or B type of coach...now he is D+?
  3. BRB, I don't think I understand what you are asking.
  4. According to the broadcasters from the Indiana game last year, he has 42 (going on 43). They said he's the 2nd most experienced HC in CFB behind Saban. Well, now I am rolling my eyes! Ha
  5. Oh yes, let's trot out this fallacy again. It's like, there's no room for being 100% Riley or 100% Bo. No room for "Bo should have been fired, but maybe things aren't 100% right now" at all. I know! I wanted Bo gone. Truth be told the coaching search stuff is a blast to follow. I am just not sold on Riley and I don't think that a 30 year HC gets the old "Give him time" bit that a rookie coach should/would get. Riley wasn't hired at NU to learn how to be a HC and how to run a program. He was hired because he already knew how to do that. Or so we would have thought.
  6. 1. The amount of people who think that is a very, very small minority. Don't confuse people being unsure of the Riley hire with still wanting Bo here. They aren't the same. 2. Dabo won the ACC in year 3, and has won at least 10 games the last 6 years. The fanbase would be elated with a conference championship. MNC's aren't on the table right now. Dabo technically won it in his 4th year - you have to count the season that he coached over half of as his first season (the year we beat them in the Gator Bowl, coincidentally). Anyways, I'm sure he was feeling the heat after 7-6, 9-5, and 6-7 records his first three seasons. I bet he was even feeling it after year four - despite winning the ACC, they still had 4 losses, got completely curbstomped by West Virginia (i think they just scored again), and ended the season ranked 22nd. That's a Bo Pelini type of year. Year 5 is when they hit their groove and figured it all out. Dabo took over in game seven in 2008, but didn't actually get the contract until after the season to become HC full time. He was also a first time Head Coach, so he started surrounding himself with guys who really knew their craft (like Chad Morris and Brent Venables) when he saw areas struggling. The point is, Dabo was a rookie read coach, and won a conference title in his 3rd year as head coach. If you want to count half a season, ok, whatever. It doesn't change the point. I guarantee NU fans would have taken that 2011 Clemson season over what we've had. Hail Varsity did an article on it last summer, and the data shows that year 3 is a very good predictor for a coaches tenure. No more "buy-in" or "toxic culture" to blame, as the guys in the program are the current staff's players. So many posts make me roll my eyes. Then I get to a post like this and nod my head. Good post. Also, to the posters that are trying to compare Riley to Dabo...Dabo was a rookie HC when he took over. Riley has 30 years under his belt.
  7. Many fans felt that 9 wins were built into the schedule every year. Many still do, I know I do. The travesty wasn't firing Bo...the travesty was hiring Riley and not telling him that it would be a great time with this amazing fresh start to also use those connections he had made over the past 30 years to hire a bad ass staff right away.
  8. I will do my best to PM you guys, the stuff I get is not always accurate!
  9. Did you put the jinx on our team? Ha...no. Heard about this today, this afternoon, but didn't get a name. Now we have the name! I can add you to the PM list for when "hear things"...
  10. Ahhh...well, there you have it! For those that I sent out PM's too I wish I had not even bothered!
  11. Anyone think that some of the coaches, GA's, interns for the team post/read stuff on here?

Yes. Which is why we should always post like a recruit is reading their thread. And, Mike Riley is totally a Democrat.

Matty did take over the recruiting forum and I guarantee there is an inside joke about me between riley and coach dub.

  12. wow. not a very good scenario to draw to?? our program has sunk to this level?? i guess he thought NU was just like OSU? I don't think he thought that, like another poster said, I think Riley thought that if Banker had "better toys" to play with the results would be much different.
  13. well its nice that banker, reed and maybe cav got paid. Riley's a great friend Oh yeah, those friends of him got to double their pay for two years. nice little retirement fund Yes it was...

  15. Every HC has guys on staff that are not all that good...but not every HC is at a school where you are "forced" to make a change. Riley loved the guy, those guys and most of that staff was/is tight. Think if you were working with like 4 or 5 of your best friends, you are close, your families are close...and to top it all off the "goals" you have to meet are pretty tame, pretty realistic, like they were at OSU...so you let some stuff slide because things are going "well enough". I think I would have done the same thing for all those years. I think most of us would. He came to NU and things were very different.
  16. I think this is the new way to do it.
  17. Looks like it's harder to run the old new roof insurance scams these days!

  18. I will be shocked if NU has even has more than 3 votes
  19. I did the crime class before, different school. Spent a ton of time on serial killers, it was really cool. I have a feeling the Entre class could end up being one where I show Shark Tank every Friday!
  20. So, I should have the option second semester or maybe next year to teach one of these two classes. The crime one I would get to create on my own. The Entrepreneurship class is already being offered and basically all the stuff is done. What would you rather teach and or take?
  21. I believe it was 2015 he said that. Last year, his comments were that he thought NU would be successful to make a bowl. I remember that bowl remark. And as much crap as he's gotten, he's kinda been on point the past two years. It's why I'm curious to hear what he has to say about this year's team...especially our O-Line. I like him a lot. I think he is really good at what he does. Are they doing the tailgate show again this year? Anyone know?
  22. Princeton now lets students pick up to 6 genders on their applications. Only 6? Sounds like they are leaving some genders out. Typical Princeton...it is why Harvard is so much better.

Hey, you should at least be honest with yourself!

You'll get used to this brave, new world. It turns out to not be so different from the old one at all.

I was trying to think back to grad school and I think they just had male/female but I think they had a ton of races and ethnicities listed. I can't remember for sure though.

I won't begin to comment on Fox or the news source but I wonder why it is even a question anymore. Anything more than 2 choices seems like a waste of time to me. And if there are more than 2, why even try to categorize them? The rate we're going there is gonna be some classification skipped. How about human or non-human?
