  1. Some people can't do the job for different reasons. The first three were in it for themselves I agree, and I agree they failed on the football side. Eichorst supposedly did a good job with the other sports, but for me that is hearsay. Pelini was never about Nebraska. He was 100% about Pelini. If he truly was this great defensive coach, then why hasn't he been hired by a major program? He hasn't, and I don't even think he has had a sniff at one. Doubt he ever will, he really should not be representing anyone as far as I am concerned.
  2. Never have I heard of Callahan, Riley or Eichorst make the statement they hated any part of Nebraska. We tend to dislike people that worked here because things did not turn out right or the way we wanted. Yet the one a$$ hole that continously badmouthed Nebraska between his non hirement and his eventual hiring. Did what ever he could to torpedo the program, then becomes the head coach and leads us to some of the worst blow outs in our history and tells the fan base how bad they are and how glad he would be to move on. Sometimes I guess it is hard to tell what a snake is laying in the road. I have no hate for the three mentioned, but the fourth one can not lick the bottom of the others shoes in my opinion. Poison from day one and there was never a better day for Nebraska than when he was shown the door. Three gave a lot to this program and left graciously. The other was a richard from day one and still is today.
  3. Sam Keller was the Arizona State player that Coach Callahan broght in, he was a cancer on that team, and was asked to leave. Can not help but believe he was some of the teams problems while he was here. I think he split the locker room. Tanner gave us everything he had I think. Maybe not the best coaching in a lot of ways had its affect. I am hoping Tanner gets his chance at the pros but I doubt it.
  4. The point being he did not take over a historic losing program. Do I think anyone else could have done the job he did. Most likely there are a few, but not many. I think there were kids there that wanted to win, and he lit a fire under the ones that were just coming along. I am very happy we got Coach Frost, think he is one of the best college coaches around. I just don't compare it to what Snyder did at Kansas State. I think he has a lot of work to do to be on the same curve as the last two years. He has shown he is capable, the question is, is there enough talent on the shelves to compete with the top of the Big every week. I already know the answers that are coming, I was here when we were going to run right thru the Big 10, show Wisconsin who the real Big Red was. I would much rather see results, and personally wait for them to happen.
  5. I am just going and wait to see what happens. Flapping my jaw making statements about who or how we beat another team, means about as much as bird droppings. Will Nebraska be better next year. I truly think so. But there are no guarantees in life. Play the games. See what happens. And again, Coach Frost did a great job at UCF, no question. But he did not start with a bunch of losers, he had talent on the team, they had won 12 games two years before and played in the Fiesta Bowl I think. Had to be some talent left. Most likely kids with a better attitude about winning. They had been past over by most big programs. Wanted to prove themselves with their new hotshot coach.
  6. Yea, it is time to move on. Nebraska made mistakes. It happens. I don't get the need for all this who was worse or who did what. It is behind us, we have positives to concentrate on and down the road in a few years think how happy we were to have Riley when we did, so the door opened for Frost! Forget the negatives, pursue the positives.
  7. The point Sker, and the reason I hated Pelini from day one was his attitude towards Nebraska. He caused many problems when he left after Solich was fired, then did the same kind of crap when he was fired. He did seem to keep quiet afterwards, but I think he had past assistant coaches calling the kids, trying to cause more problems. I know he did it after Solich. I supported both of them, wanted them both to succeed, but was not meant to be. I have no hate for either of them, because I truly believe they tried their best to do the job right. I will never believe Pelini ever had the best interest of Nebraska in mind, only the best for Pelini.
  8. Thank You Zac, for your service to Nebraska and to the United States Army. I know the Marines missed a good man. Be your best, we all know you will.
  9. Yes and he left respectfully, where the other one left trying to destroy the program as he had done the first time.
  10. Realistic has never described a Nebraska fan. Doubt it ever will. Play hard, do your best is all I ever ask. I seriously doubt Nebraska could have played with UCF this year. It took two years, starting with a team that played in a BCS bowl two years before. Nebraska has not been near a major bowl in a long long time. For me, just being happy we are on a path that I think is recovery. Coach Frost has proven he can take what is considered lessor talent and make them winners. I would love to see 10 wins next year, possible I think, but if we are in every game, don't get curb stomped by Wisconsin, or Ohio State we will have made dramatic improvement.
  11. I haven't played football, in ehhh 50 years, but I have brand new titanium knees and they work good. Having knee problems is not fun. And it is not something you just train thru. I think read some where arthritis was the main problem, but could be wrong. I hope he makes a full recovery and plays like he wants to play. He doesn't have to measure up to my desires, only his. If it is time to walk away, he should do so. Okay I have a 25 mile mountain bike ride in the morning. Need to rest my knees. lol
  12. I would suggest a movie called "The lone survivor" on FOX Movies to begin to comprehend what a Navy Seal is. Based on a true story about Operation Red Wing. These things go on quite often. We never hear about them, and most really do not seek out attention. True warriors that defend our freedom's every day of their lives. A different breed than the regular military member. Life for some is not a box of chocolates. He is a man among boys, no question.
  13. Utmost respect for the young man. Being a Seal takes athletic ability, maybe more so than some football players. His problem is the fact that he has never played the game and I think that will hold him back some. But his attitude, dedication and motivation will be hard to match for any of the other players. His life depended on the things he did, not 6 points or a tackle for a loss. Confidence and courage runs thru his body. He will make every effort, no question. I also remember him being on the field this year and was actually surprised to see him out there. But with Coach Frost's attitude about life and Nebraska football, I am betting he will see the field and we will know exactly who he is by the time he graduates.
  14. Lot of the talent was credited to Hoke I think LOM. He is not winning the games he was paid the bucks to win. Losing to Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State and all to Ohio State is not going over well. His attitude is what will kill him there, but like us they got who and what they wanted, so possibly he will get more time. But he has to be competitive with Ohio State is my guess.
  15. I think Harbaugh is gone after next year. He has failed miserably in winning the games he was hired to win. Big fan of Coach Frost, but would take Meyer in a heart beat. He knows all the ins and outs of the business, how to recruit big time prospects. He would never come to Nebraska, his decisions are all about talent availability. I think we may have a young Meyer with Coach Frost, the question for me is will we give him time to fix this giant mess? I have read on this site, that some expect to win the CCG in the next two years. It might happen, but expecting it is just looking for problems, as some will start complaining if it doesn't happen fast enough and the squeaky wheel is the loudest. The biggest difference for me is that Coach Frost wants to be at Nebraska. This isn't a stepping stone for him.
  16. For me it is too soon to even consider next year. They need to get their feet wet and keep on keepin on. It has been Coach Frost's way since he got to Nebraska. I really don't expect much change in the way he does things. I didn't enter the poll. Bring it up again after the spring game, we will have more data and a better feel for who stays and who leaves.
  17. I watched the game, and the most amazing thing was that there never seemed to be UCF players being carried off the field. Better conditioned, better prepared, playing what I felt was supposed to be a vastly more talented, gifted team. Having players making it thru games has been hard at Nebraska, maybe Coach Frost and his S&C know the secrets that have devastated Nebraska the last few years.
  18. We all give Coach Frost a lot of credit for this action, and he rightly deserves it. But I think Nebraska deserves some credit for allowing it to happen. I said when this all started he was man of his word, and that would be the deciding factor on what he did. I know it came down to the last day for him to make up his mind, but when he did he did it with determination. I feel certain we will have players that know exactly where they stand, that has not happened since Coach Osborne left. This program needs that. It appears to me that Nebraska actually has a team from administration down to the coach. Players need to buy in quickly and I think they will.
  19. Some very positive remarks about him finishing what he started during the Mizzou/Texas game tonight.
  20. I remember reading the same type of stuff when we moved from the Big12 to the Big10. We will dominate instantly, they have no idea of big 12 speed, Nebraska power on and on. Well it hasn't been the joy ride some expected. This is not AAC, you play big bad big boys every week. Injuries, talent, and numbers of Division 1 players make the difference. I expect to win the lottery every week. But I invest into it, so I have something to say about it. I don't invest time in coaching, recruiting nor set the standards for excellence. I actually do very little for the team, so I don't demand or expect anything. We were 4-8 last year, if we get to 500 ball I will be happy. If we don't posters like some of the above will be screaming for the coaches head. The Nebraska fan in full grandeur.
  21. Frank has gotten them to a lot of bowl games, the first ones since 1968. Missed 2014. As stated Frank is not the greatest coach, but he was not fired for his on field performance. He was actually quite lucky the first year to keep his job at Ohio.
  22. I do agree he was not the greatest coach, but his past kept him from getting interviews/bigger jobs. I think the last 5 years he has decided that Ohio is where he belongs. Good man, made some mistakes, but does not deserve to drug thru the dirt. You had several other coaches that thought they should have been head coach when Coach Osborne retired. It was not a happy work place.
