  1. As far as "the documents" Perlman's quote was for anyone doing a freedom of information request, there will only be one offer document (Riley's). If Count is referring to the same, my guess is there have been "verbal" agreements up until today. FIR isn't that hard to circumvent if you stay off email & outta MS Word... Heck, even state & local government agencies use burner cell phones now to avoid FIRs
  2. Neither have I. In both cases, do you suppose there's a reason for it? I would say probably bad resume, inneffective networking, or both usually explain most good candidates being overlooked. Is Riley a good candidate? Sure... Is he the right candidate for NU? Time will tell...
  3. But then knapp had to post this: and ruin everything. Thanks a lot. Is this reverse psychology since everyone here knows you're a "she"? It can't be Moiraine since knapp leaked the (male) gender. Buuuutttt, what if knapp said TSP was male to throw us off the trail... This is worse than Beck's logic on play calling (I know that you know that I know that you know that I know...) I give up...
  4. Remember both Perlman & SEs are lawyers. SE might have asked multiple candidates (I doubt you can get through too many in 5 days) but the "offer" letter was only typed up for 1 person. Without it in writing, it's not an offer, it's just a discussion. Perlman is not lying, he's making a statement of legal semantics...
  5. Frost has a CCG to win this weekend. If he was on SE's list, Frost wouldn't have spoken with SE until after the CCG. As an AD, SE would know this is common practice. When Oregon makes the playoff, I could see Frost staying off-limits to suitors until after ducks win it all (or lose). It's the first year of the playoff, what coach is gonna risk screwing that up? Not everyone is a "Brian Kelly".
  6. The book that SE gave all his coaches as required reading was "The Energy Bus". Go look it up, it addresses everything about positivity/negativity effect from SE's perspective (4.5 of your 5 bullet points). It's a hugely popular management book so not a bad read if you're into that stuff... EDIT: Mark Richt at UGA allegedly makes the book required reading for his team which is interesting if true: http://timchavel.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-energy-bus-10-rules-to-fuel-your.html
  7. Link? Opinion. I know you are familiar with Frost and are a huge Ducks fan, have you heard much? I wouldn't expect us to hear anything about him till after tomorrow night regardless. The only thing I've heard and this is from my buddy who grew up in Oregon moved to Nebraska and last year moved back to Oregon. He says he's well connected up there and told me that Riley and Frost have a pretty good relationship. Thinks that Frost will be at Nebraska by seasons end. Didn't say if that was after CCG or after playoffs. He was real adamant about it. Nothing too "insider-ee" though. Most people don't have true insider info. Thanks for your thoughts, I hope we get Scott here sometime. If I had to wager a guess, and taking into consideration what I've read on here so far about Riley, Frost may not be contacted until after the playoffs, Oregon makes it, just out of respect for Frost and Oregon. Yup. I'm also thankful. Really hoping the Ducks can get their 1st national championship. I am doubtful Frost would want to make a lateral move to be OC for Nebraska. For his own career development, he would be better served going out and finding a HC gig at a smaller school, rather than coming here under Riley and hoping that Riley will retire after 4 or 5 seasons. Biggest knock on Frost as HC is he has NEVER put together a staff. Coming here would not necessarily be a lateral move from this perspective if he could put together the O staff. Even so, it wouldn't accelerate his timeframe for getting an HC job. He's easily HC somewhere within 4 years if he chooses to be.
  8. GTFO with that ;-) Seriously - even if just 1 practice a month was open to fans I would be all over this. Where did you read this, I haven't come across it yet?
  9. I think the culture/bunker mentality within the team will take some work to be repaired. I think people are really underestimating this. Overall, the program is not in bad shape by any means tho. Based on the video clips of Riley, I don't think SE will have to manage perception issues nearly as much. I agree that what caused the trigger to be fired now was ultimately Bo's attitude. Bo only had 1 blowout this year but I think the attitude & schtick hard worn thin across the administration. I would wager a bit more PC attitude the last 3 years would have gotten Bo a little more time from AD. If Riley stops the blowouts & sees similar w/l record as Bo, I think he's pretty good spot with AD & major boosters. Just competing with MSU, WU, tOSU for 4Q would be a huge improvement right now... EDIT: Looks like Zoogies nailed it while I was typing....
  10. In no particular order: 1) You were right, kid ain't yours 2) Optional textbooks for all student athletes 3) Undefeated in 2015 (just set the bar high, get the team out of the funk...) 4) Play disciplined, physical football for 4Q every week 5) Hookers and/or Blow
  11. Looks like a few parody accounts created today but this one was interacting with Josh Mitchell https://twitter.com/MockMikeRiley
  12. LOMS - Watson was forced. Much easier to retain some position coaches from the previous staff than a Coordinator. I don't expect Riley to keep anyone but a good position coach is always worth their weight... One holdover would help a lot with the culture changes that are needed
  13. The coach has 0 input on the apparel contracts. Addidas sucks when it comes to alt uni's but otherwise has been & continues to be very good to DONU. Last time Nike even looked at the NU apparel contract, they gave an insanely low offer. NU doesn't mesh as well with Nike's marketing scheme, imo...
  14. FIFY. Still don't think this was the hire NU needed but don't kid yourself. The facilities other than the stadium are bad
  15. Kaz teaches sound technique. Problem was (just my opinion) the 2-gap/line control requirement of Pelini's scheme. Without complete world beater DTs & DEs, it was a losing proposition. A lot of blogs if you search google that outline it
  16. Mods - Can we PLEEAASE lock this thread at NUance's post? Best ending possible...
  17. With this staff turnover and small class, I will be very happy with anything in the Top 35. Agree with QMany. Based on class size, top ~35 would be a good class. Getting top 25 this year means we have a LOT of players leave...
  18. RB, Warren retained. Fisher, Kaz maybe. Everyone else definitely gone. I would open to using paps & cotton as tackling dummies but I'm sure there's a law against that somewhere...
  19. I think there is a reasonable third option you need to add to this poll. Something like "Go Big Red" or "I'm N"... For myself, I can support the program without liking the coach or thinking it's a great hire right now. That's what anonymous internet message boards are for, right?!?
  20. Not gonna like... My first reaction was I liked him in "The Blind Side"... lulz. Seriously tho, agree he would be a good coaching choice.
  21. yup, makes me feel tough. It just seems a little odd. Here's behavior I don't like. I'll respond to it with the same behavior. We should probably send these comments to the players on twitter?!?! I'd rather see it on HB, size of audience, grain of salt & all that...
  22. I choose to do both! Give the guy a chance & go batsh#t insane.
  23. Well, I gotta thank HB for my progress in group therapy today. I've finally gotten to "acceptance" or "benign resignation". Not sure which but past anger & denial...
  24. SE is in a lose-lose regarding the emails. Once the players meet a few times with the new coach, it'll calm down. If he did everything face-to-face, I'm guessing be like this, lol
