  1. How long did Solich last? Four years or five? He was fired after a 10-3 season.
  2. 1. hold the camera still 2. leave the dancing to the Scarlets
  3. Switzer and Bowden both got chased out of town. Dr. Tom wasn't the greatest with the press. Remember when Armen Katiayan came to town? Bo is just Bo, but really some of the stuff people write is just so much bull$h!t, I can't blame him for having a hard time with it.
  4. ESPN made up a bunch of stuff about wanting him in the studio. I think it was just that he and they didn't want him covering tOSU game.
  5. There was good crowd noise. One weird thing was all the Iowa fans around me started yelling when their offense had the ball. We were all standing and screaming, and they were standing and screaming, It was fun. Not as crazy as Michigan State, but good.
  6. Barney should stay. They should hire either an orthopedic surgeon or witch doctor, because the Oline was literally the walking wounded this year. Those guys really manned up and played through the pain.
  7. I remember people complaining that the seats at the top of the south stadium were empty a few seasons ago. I was in the south stadium for that game. It was cold and windy. The people at the top moved down and huddled with those of us a few rows lower. There were a lot of Iowa fans in town, scattered around the stadium. Tailgated with some across from the stadium. Seemed nice. I wondered how they got such good parking though. Maybe the U reserves a parking lot for visitors. Now that I think about it, the lot on Vine always has visitors.
  8. 7 points or a shutout. We still get a free Runza or burger! They didn't show many replays in the stadium on some of those catches either. That was frustrating. I didn't think the long pass happened inbounds. Two DPI's on balls that landed way out of bounds seemed kind of strange as well. Bad officiating wasn't just a B1G problem. I happened to catch the last few minutes of CU and Utah. Utah tackled a CU back for two yard loss by his facemask. No call. CU had to punt. Utah missed a last second field goal to lose to CU despite the missed facemask penalty.
  9. I heard the last part of the interview. I agreed with him. The offense needs an identity. They need some plays they can run and block to perfection. When you get those down, then add some more. Instead of trying to be a jack of all trades, just do somethings really well. I think he referred to the option, and how that seems to work a few times but blow up more often.
  10. If we're going to fire Bo, we should do it now. Bob Davie already accepted the job at New Mexico. All the really good coaching prospects are getting snatched up. There's a good chance Houston Nutt can fly up for an interview.
  11. I don't want anybody fired. I would like someone to explain to me why the D-Line is a full yard off the ball. It seems we're getting pushed back anyway, if we started by having the d-line crowd the line, at least we would be a yard closer to the runner to make a tackle.
  12. You must have missed the eight turnovers against Iowa State in '09
  13. Actually that is the origin of the blackshirts, as a practice jersey. Bo uses the awarding of the blackshirts as a motivational tool, to get guys playing at their best. I haven't seen a list of the players, but I'm guessing that the number is based on the different defensive packages they play. If Charlie McBride is okay with how Bo is using the Blackshirt tradition, then I'm okay with it.
  14. There are still tickets available at the box office Knappic posted a link in a previous post. I just checked at 3:00 PM thursday and could have picked up a ticket link to knappic's post link to ticket office
  15. At first, I thought about Roy Helu running for 307 yards last year against Mizzou. But then I read a little further and saw he was talking about bowl game records.
  16. Watch the replay of the sack again. Time left in 1st quarter is 7:01 and it is 2nd and 8 from the Huskers 38. The Marlowe run happens with 3:45 to play in the 1st on 1st and 10 from the Spartan 40. The plays were not consecutive. The placement of the ball isn't even shown after the sack. This might explain why you were so amazed that the refs got things so wrong!
  17. The whole premise of this thread is just dumb. As a coach, I hate when people without first-hand knowledge substitute their uninformed opinion for the choices the coaches make. Look, the coaches are there at practice with these guys every day. They are in meetings with these guys every day. Second guessing a coach's decision on playing time is just mental masturbation. Why not just title the thread "My son should be the starting quarterback"? I get emails from parents questioning my coaching decisions all the time... "Why isn't my son playing more? He was on a select team in junior high!" It might be that I see your son in practice every day, and he just hasn't impressed me with his skills enough to take playing time away from other guys who are performing better. As for Jammal "definitely scoring" on the play --- not so fast my friend. The Spartans might have reacted differently if Jammal had lined up wide and gone in motion. He might have been tackled for a loss, because the Spartan defense would be expecting Jammal to get the reverse. Marlowe in motion didn't raise a danger flag in the defense's mind, and that might have been the key factor in the play working.
  18. Can only buy one ticket, at $70 in section 41 row 92. North end zone. Can't see the big screen. Still......
  19. The Spartan player kinda ducks a little and turns as the hit comes in from Eric. It seems the old coaching adage is true; you can reduce injuries by making the hit, not taking the hit. That's why I get so nervous when Taylor Martinez stands up so straight when he runs and gets hit. On kick return you should definitely have your head on a swivel looking for the defenders.
  20. There were many Huskers on the ground during our offensive series too. Yoshi collapsed, but reentered the game after getting his ankle taped. And more importantly, Rex went down with a cramp, but returned just a few plays later to catch the touchdown pass on the wheel route. I don't know if having one of your starters go down with an injury is the best way to slow down the hurry up offense. How many times does an offense go after the replacement? During the game, I didn't think the Spartans were faking injuries. Not like I did when USC did it in Lincoln to stop momentum back in the days of "he shall not be named".
  21. I don't know if anybody else has mentioned this because I got a little bored with "who's a starter" bs. None of us knows what Bo is like at practice, or what he's like when he's talking to the guys in the film room, or in his office. You are judging a man from how he acts in a heated moment in one game. I'm betting that the way he treats the guys on the practice field earns their respect, and gives Bo the room to get after guys when they make a bone-headed play. You don't know the whole picture, and you're assuming that he is that way all the time.
  22. The advantage Washington had was that he was running that guerrilla war strategy. Everybody wanted him to run the West Coast offensive. No wait. Yeah this thread is getting way too stupid. Nice touch of history though.
  23. Another hit of the game was by Yoshi on the Sparty db that intercepted the tipped ball. That was a HUGE hit!
  24. I heard a similar comment from one of the players on the post game interviews. He gave props to Dobson.
  25. You can tell he's been coached not to underthrow on deep passes like he did earlier in the season - the last few games, he's only been long when he misses (like today when Kyler was wide open). It looked to me like it was a good ball but both Kyler Reed and Enunwa seemed like they both tweaked a hamstring on the play, and the db went down as well. I'm not criticizing Martinez on that pass.
