  1. Who knows, Wyoming could end up being the best team in the MWC. Even with the "bad" D we still had the game in hand until those 2 quick TD drives. Seems like in the 4th we got a little too lackadaisical and it bit us in the ass. Not saying the defense was doing good before then, but the DBs took a shot at both balls that were caught for TDs. A lot of things went right for Wyoming, and they played with a lot of energy. The world isn't ending yet, but this team is on a short leash.
  2. The 4th down sneak that we didn't convert. The Safety ripped the ball from Martinez's hands.
  3. And I've seen teams like Oregon and Boise State go for two all the time regardless of opponent. I don't want to be too critical if this is something Meyer usually does, but if it isn't, like you suggest, then I find it very cheeky. I'll have to see what he does against an opponent of equal fight. I'm curious if the first two conversions were from that swinging gate play. Pretty sure the first one was the Backup QB just running in, but the 2nd one was a swinging gate type play.
  4. Oregon does this all the time, they do a swinging gate and if it's not covered then they get the quick 2. But this is something that Urban has never done before so it could be a dick move.
  5. We Agree that we need at least 2 DEs, but Gregory is 3 for 3. We still have McMullen for 4 years still.
  6. The article says that all the ones that received the shirts are the ones that stepped up and had shown leadership through the summer. I also believe that they are the ones that separated themselves from the rest of the pack and are clearly starters and also have performed well in past games. There is still going to be a good rotation on the D-Line, but Ankrah and Randle are the leaders. Banderas received a lot of hype, but he still has a ways to go before he unseats Santos. Evans is probably the best defender with Baptiste and Mitchell as the best CBs. And finally Cooper has separated himself from the other safeties in knowledge of the defense and ability to play the position. It's a good selection. Now the 4 spots that don't have shirts will be something for the younger guys to strive for.
  7. I'm thinking Taylor is thinking past this year. He's looking at being either the 3rd or 4th option this year. He redshirts this year and he has an extra year where he can play without any of the guys on the roster currently (unless Newby gets a medical redshirt or something). If he keeps working, he could have a minimum of 1 year where he is the only guy. It also gives him another year to get away from his injury, and a year to acclimate to being in college. No matter what happens, I like our options for the next 4+ years at RB.
  8. Isn't richards a big part of Special Teams? I seem to remember him always down on kick returns. So that might be was got him the scholarship.
  9. One thing I noticed about the first Michigan State INT is that right as Taylor is releasing the ball he's popped right in the chin in the same way that got a penalty later in the game. I think that's why the ball went right to the MSU defender.
  10. Again, name 1 team with a clear number 1 at QB that has the back up come in for 1 or more series in the first half. Missouri is the only one I can think of with Daniel and then Gabbert, but they bot ended up playing so poorly that they were yanked after 1 maybe 2 series. The only way he comes in in the first half is if we have a game like Idaho State where we're already up 42-0.
  11. I'm pretty sure the "I'm meaner than Taylor so I wouldn't be good at QB" quote came from the article written back after NSD.
  12. Would not be surprised if he started out the season doing the stuff that Martin did at the end of his junior year, then as the year progressed he takes over as a starting DE.
  13. I think I remember the part where the coaches asked Heard to learn the slot position so they could get him on the field. It wasn't a permanent position change, he would still be listed as a RB, but he felt he was good enough to be starting at RB. Obviously he wasn't, because if he was then he would have been playing over Abdullah. There was some part of his game that the coaches weren't 100% comfortable with. The bottom line though, is Heard transferred because he wanted to be the guy at RB and he never would have been the guy here. Not because he wasn't given the chance, but because the other guys were better than him.
  14. I got lucky, after 2 straight years of working on Saturdays and being stressed out whenever the NU game was on, I'm only working up to a 4 hour shift from 7-11 pm. It just so happens that most of our games this year are either going to be 11 or 230 games, and I've already got the time off for both Wyoming and Southern Miss.
  15. This seems like what should have happened was that after you sign your NLI you are attached to the school. If you want to leave, then you are subject to the same transfer rules as if you had transferred at any other time during the year. You sit out a year, but you aren't losing any of your eligibility. It sounds like he might have lost a year (regarded as a sophomore) at the beginning (what with Kelly not releasing him), but after he was released he should have ran into the same transfer policies that every other player has to deal with. He sits out this year, but is still able to play 4 years.
  16. If you look in the Hail Varsity gallery you get a good look at the reason Brown and Suttles are off the team. Picture 38 or 39 is of Santos and there is a pretty impressive scar on his forehead.
  17. To the Topic Creator, it's been pointed out before in this thread but I want to reiterate, I think you're forgetting just how much hatred there was leading up to the Texas game. The whole red out the whole world campaign was just a start. The whole fanbase wanted that game with a passion that I haven't seen before or since. Add to that we were leaving the Big XII conference with everyone saying we were running with our tails between our legs to the Big 10 BECAUSE of Texas. That game was on a whole other level. The UCLA game holds absolutely no candle to it. The fanbase wants revenge on UCLA, but no more than they would want revenge for losing to them the previous year.
  18. BROWN SHOES WITH BLACK PANTS?!?!?!?! Oh My Gosh! Truly a FASHION DON'T!! According to that one guys wife, it has been turned into a fashion do.
  19. I don't know why a number of people are asking to put in Armstrong when the game would be in doubt. Name any other team where they have a clear cut no. 1 QB that does that. You can't, because no one does that. In 2010 when Green would come in it was because, as someone said before, Martinez wasn't miles above Green or Lee. Green's confidence was shot since the Oklahoma game in '09, and frankly he ended up not being a good fit here. But he has done OK with Tulsa (winning the conference championship last year). I get that you want the backups to get playing time, but I expect the only time we see Armstrong in is in the 4th Quarter when we have at least a 3-4 TD lead.
  20. Ndamukong Suh (cally recruit) Prince Amukamara (cally recruit) Philip Dillard (cally recruit) Matt O'Hanlon (cally recruit) Larry Asante (cally recruit) Eric Hagg (cally recruit) Jared Crick (cally recruit) etc... Those guys were nothing before Bo came. The staff can develop talent, when they have it. We're paying for the sins of the 2008 - 2010 classes. "Can develop talent - when they have it." Huh? So like David? Do you think LD was developed, or already had it? I'd say he already had it. I don't want to take anything away from the development of these players under Bo, but we don't know what they would have been under Cally either. They were young, and Bo got them in their prime. You can't really say this about anyone that he's recruiting and had 5 years to work with though, which is unfortunate. I'd say Eric Hagg is probably the best example. Don't think he'd be playing in the NFL without Bo and his Peso scheme...then again we have no real way to know that. All I know is, Bo has not been able to replicate the same development of his recruited players, as he had with Cally's players. It's early. We'll see. But basically 3-4 classes were duds on the defensive side. We'll see how the next 2 or 3 pan out...but you can't blame us for being skeptical with his track record of talent on the D. Do you think he did a good job developing Stafford? Or Rome? Or A. Green? Or E. Martin? Or Cooper? All guys that IMO had a higher ceiling than they reached under Bo. Cooper and Green are still at the school, unless you're talking with Aaron, who was playing on offense. Martin couldn't get LB down mentally, and really came to form as a DE (should he have been moved to DE before is another question).
  21. That article dates from last year
  22. NW helped us out by not playing Colter at QB very much. No idea why. Robinson wasn't hurting us too badly. We'll see. Because he wasn't doing anything when he was QB. The only reason why Northwestern was up in that game was because of the turnovers. We hold onto the ball and we win by 2 TDs instead of sweating out a missed FG. But overall the defense did a great job that game, only 1 break down/great play design and call (the Mark TD) the whole game. Outside of that run, NW only had something like 200 total yards of offense. The D was pretty dialed in that game.
  23. I think Pelini might have cracked the mobile QB code after the Ohio State game. Colter did absolutely nothing and Robinson was sufficiently corralled until he got hurt.
  24. Don't forget about Travis Lewis. I think he is numero uno on the heart breaker chart for me. Lewis couldn't handle the weather. His official visit was when Nebraska played in during a day that was really cold, windy, and might have been snowing (might have been the Nunn fumble game in '06). Since he couldn't handle the cold, he went to Oklahoma instead. At least that's what I've heard (there might have been a story in the Lincoln or Omaha paper about that).
  25. THE biggest problem with the Pelini era is that the team needs to figure out how to get over that hump. Before A&M in 2010 everything about the program was trending up, afterwards performance on the field has been stuck in neutral. Now neutral for us has still been pretty decent, one of only 4 teams with 9 wins since Pelini became coach, but faith is starting to run dry that Pelini is the man. The only way we fire Pelini next year is if the season is an unmitigated disaster. I can accept the 9 and 10 wins a year (harder and harder to accept the blowouts) because Pelini's teams have been so good off the field as well. Up until Brown and Maurice(?) got kicked off the team the only incidents with the football players came about because of normal college kid shenanigans.
