  1. I've been here sporadically since '09, but do vaguely remember everything being tagged with Shawn Watson back in the day.
  2. Pretty cheap and transparent money grab by the local rag that will turn the negative press on at the drop of a hat.
  3. Probably adhering to the non-contact rules for coaches and players during the offseason?
  4. Frank didn't have the playcalling or coordinating chops required to successfully succeed TO, and 1999 was the year it started to show. For instance, look at the reliance Frank had on running from the QB position. If you look at Frank's 3 primary QBs (Newcombe, Crouch and Lord), in the 6 seasons they combined to start, the QB rushed the ball over 150 times a year every year, with Crouch and Lord running it over 200 times from 2001-2003. Compare that with 5 of TO's QBs (Frost, Frazier, Gdowski, Taylor and Gill) from 1981 to 1997, and the QB position carried the ball 150 times twice (Frost in '97, Taylor in '88). An argument could be made for a lack of recruiting quality during Frank's tenure, but the 1999 and 2000 teams consisted of a majority of TO's recruits. I think the real TL;DR argument is that Frank lacked the talent, imagination, and moxy as a playcaller than Tom possessed in spades.
  5. Over/under on how long it takes them to kill Lando: 39 minutes.
  6. Henrich is criminally underrated, specifically by Rivals.
  7. I guess I'll answer the questions now. I'll stick to games I've been at in person. Most fun: Probably 2003 Oklahoma State. My first game in person. Most satisfying: 2007 Kansas State. Putting the throttle to KSUcks and Josh Freeman, and knowing that it was Callahan's last game. Loudest: A tie between 2006 Texas and 2013 Northwestern. In particular, Nate Swift to Marlon Lucky and the Hail Mary. Most disappointing: 2009 Iowa State. Holy hell, that was awful. Best OT: I've only been to two, so we'll say 2005 Iowa State by default.
  8. My nephew was born in the Spring of '94; I was 10 years old at the time. My parents and I were at my sister's house for the '95 Orange Bowl, and I would run back and forth from the TV to his crib where he was (supposed to be) sleeping and would give him a little high five every time Nebraska had a good play. If Fitbit was a thing back then, I probably would have logged a couple miles in the 4th quarter alone.
  9. Yikes, Lavonte:

@knapplc I don't disagree with that, I just wish Lavonte would have chosen his words a bit more carefully.

I have zero doubt Jameis did 90% of the accusations. But like I said...

It's a teammate using media speak, I'm not reading too much into it.

@Redux yup. Given the history of JW, LD’s comments were pretty soft, but it’s not unexpected from a teammate or friend. I’d estimate 99% of people would use soft language to defend a friend or coworker who they personally know or like. The other 1% are lying that they wouldn’t hold back from lambasting a friend or teammate.

Drew Magary is a pot stirrer and deadspin is a near useless rag publication

  10. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Captain America: Winter Solder and Black Panther disagree with you. Hell, 3/4 of the MCU disagrees with you.
  11. If that's the case, just go back to the bowl coalition.
  12. If anything, it undervalues his worth and ability as a recruiter.
  13. The rankings came out the exact same way that they do nowadays; after kids sign, before they play a game. That happens in every class, and is counterbalanced by the high ranked recruits. Tommie Frazier was, by all accounts, a 5 star player. Ahman Green was one of the top 3 RBs in the country, as was DeAngelo Evans. There's a Google spreadsheet floating around with Lemming's old ratings: You can see that, in 1992, Nebraska had 16 of his high rated players: the #1 option QB, # 16 RB, #14 & #16 WB, #19 OT, #10 DT, #6 NG, and #10 OLB. In '93, we had a top 10 RB, top 10 OT, top 10 CB and top 10 S. In '94, we had a top 10 TE and top 2 DE. In '95 alone, we had 15 players, including the #3 RB, #2 OG, #3 OLB and the #10 and #11 DT QBs. Hell, in '97, we got 2 of the top 4 DT QBs.
