  1. This is tough. I'm voting for Zac Taylor. Tagge was great, but he had a much better supporting cast around him than Taylor did. If I had a second vote, it would probably go to Claridge. He did a yeoman's job to help Devaney build the program in those early years.
  2. I have these games: - Breath of the Wild: a must-have. Incredible game - Mario Odyssey: fantastic Mario game. - Mario + Rabbids: it's basically XCOM with Mario characters. Surprisingly, it works pretty well. - Splatoon 2: a third person competitive shooter. Good fun with quite a bit of depth. - Stardew Valley: Harvest Moon with a pinch of old-school, top down Zelda. - Sonic Mania: If you enjoyed the old school, sidescrolling Sonic games, get this. Aside from those, Mario Kart is always a good choice. Smash Bros. may be coming later this year. Metroid Prime 4 is coming, as well.
  3. Your use of the term "crowded" is a misnomer; a 2 deep should be a bare minimum, particularly at positions with a ton of question marks like OLB and MLB.
  4. To me, that's not a crowded LB room; that's a two-deep.
  5. This is true; it's hard to take stats like that in a vacuum. You could also say that Tagge, Humm and Ferragamo played on much better teams, too.
  6. Pelini used the zone read, Ganz is ineligible. Taylor threw for more yards and TDs than Tagge, Humm and Ferragamo, while having a better completion percentage than everyone other than Tagge (who had one year over 60% at 190 attempts).
  7. Solich really had a lack of creativity as a playcaller, and that provided clip is a good example.
  8. Aside from moving Cam Jurgens over to D, they might have to get creative with moving some OLBs to the middle. Colin Miller and Pernell Jefferson have the body types they're looking for at ILB. Maybe even give Caleb Tannor a look.
  9. Or, a running QB who should have been playing safety.
  10. In terms of just purely running the option, it's hard to argue against Frost. I don't recall a lot of QBs being able to throw no-look pitches like he could. I would say both Frazier and Crouch were better as runners than Frost was, but I think he was better at running the option itself.
  11. I don't mind the number of games in MLB, but the double header idea is a great one; that would push the WS up to the middle of October, where it should be. And the NBA should never start before Christmas; cut 10 games out, or condense the schedule, particularly in the playoffs.
  12. I won't argue that it's a niche sport, but its playoffs are far, far better than what the NFL, NBA and MLB put out. College football regular season game >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NFL regular season game.
  13. NHL Playoffs > NFL Playoffs > MLB Playoffs >>>> NBA Playoffs.
  14. Tournament win next year or bust for Miles.

@Comfortably Numb That encompasses my point: at what point is it ok to have that expectation for basketball? Why can't we say "You have to go win a tournament game", especially with the talent returning to the team? If you continue to have low expectations for the program, you'll never be disappointed with a 5 seed in the NIT.

But sometimes it pays to be patient.  When you fire your coach you can count on losing most of a year in recruiting.  That puts the program in a huge hole for the next guy.  When you fire two or three coaches in a decade it's hard to get traction in recruiting, and a base to build on.  Eventually you get a rep as an unstable team.  (This might hold true more for football than basketball.)  That said, Miles has had several years now.  So you'd hope his team would start showing results.  /jmho

@Cdog923 I think we can have that expectation. I guess I'm agreeing with both of you to some extent. I think that should be the expectation this coming season but I also think, in reality, if Miles just makes the tournament that he probably won't be let go. And yes you are right, if we don't ratchet up the expectations for the program when it is warranted like it appears to be now, then we can expect to receive the same subpar results this program has always delivered.

  15. Oh yes, we're stretching back further into history, and looking at the best wins of the Bill Callahan era of Nebraska football. First, though, a look back at the Worst Losses of the Pelini Era. With over 65% of the vote, Huskerboard has decided that the worst loss of the Bo Pelini era was the 2012 Big Ten Championship game against Wisconsin. Rightfully so, too. Now, onto Bill Callahan: Game 1 - 2005 Colorado: "Restore the Order". Zac Taylor throws for almost 400, Cory Ross runs for almost 150, and the CU security staff throws out hundreds of students. - ESPN: http://www.espn.co.uk/college-football/recap?gameId=253290038 - Youtube: https://youtu.be/iNM9AiZm-TU?t=5s Game 2 - 2005 Michigan: Little did we know, but this would turn into a conference game a few years later. Pretty wonky ending, but Nebraska showed fortitude in finishing. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/recap?gameId=253620158 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZzrJyh3Sd8 Game 3 - 2006 Texas A&M: Taylor was as cool as ice leading a game winning drive, including one hell of a 4th down completion to Todd Peterson. Clinched the division, too. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/college-football/recap?gameId=263150245 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGWKnyFzpkc Game 4 - 2006 Colorado: Nebraska finishes the Big 12 North title in style using four trick plays, including a TD pass to Barry Turner - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/ncf/recap/_/id/263280158 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ICijQRsUbw Game 5 - 2007 Kansas St: Callahan knew his fate was sealed at this point, and went into full DGAF mode. Ganz threw for 510 yards and 7 TDs, both school records. - ESPN: http://www.espn.com/ncf/recap/_/id/273140158 - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOIJXJONm3k Voting will be open for a week, and if there is a game which you think fits the bill better, please vote "Other" and describe it in a post. Thanks!

Too bad for Erin, I'm sure she'll land on her feet....

But, yeah. Land of 10 was trash.

Of course not all the content was good but some of it was, I thought it was a decent site.

  17. The whole process of how scheduling is done in CFB needs to be revamped, because that metric can be applied to virtually any school, not just G5. We kind of lucked out this year: Akron and Troy aren't marquee teams, but they both were really good last year, so they should provide good matchups.
  18. It shouldn't be that hard to replicate. I'd actually welcome a return of the protected rivalries from the Leaders/Legends days.
  19. Steel sharpens steel, and right now, we're as dull as rusty pruning shears. That, and it would give better value to ticket holders.
