  1. Gonna say the '93 Huskers deserve a shout out for most underrated. They came within a Bryan Bennett missed field goal of beating #1 Florida State and heisman winner Charlie Ward for the national championship that year.
  2. Pretty sure I'm saying just the opposite: Martinez and Armstrong will end up with all the big numbers without making the list of Husker greats. Saying the opposite? I don't see where that is implied.... Not sure how this is even a question to be honest. Gill, Frazier, Crouch and Frost didn't directly contribute to their teams losing nearly as much as Armstrong and Martinez have regardless of which group had the better defense helping them. It's not even close. The former group made plays like no other group of qb's in Nebraska history. They were consistent besides just being light years better quarterbacks, better leaders and far more consistent playmakers.
  3. It should be a no brainer that gaudy numbers don't always tell the whole story but obviously some Husker fans will still always be blown away just by a guys 'stats'.
  4. He's beaten cancer and has epilepsy. I really like Kill. Glad he's taking care of himself though. Maybe he can still be involved in football somehow but in a non head coaching capacity. Best of luck to him whatever he does.
  5. Exactly. Just like Bo's attitude permeated the team the same goes for Riley. Those shots of him with his hands on his knees just staring at the ground a few games ago. He looked like an old guy who just didn't have it anymore and was pondering what to do next. We went from one extreme to the exact opposite. College kids especially feed off of their coaches especially the head coach. As for the picture by Benning those are probably a lot of backups or reserves. The offensive and defensive linemen always sit. Anyway I don't buy into the picture much in terms the effort the starters are giving. Whatever it is I think the effort is there but the enthusiasm has been lost. At 3-5 I wonder if some of the players have full confidence in the head coach and his assistants.
  6. I didn't even realize Mark Mangino was Iowa State's offensive coordinator. He was until today that is. He got the mid season axe.

ISU's offense isn't that bad really. Bet it was personal issues with him and Rhoads.

      They stink on defense.

    3. Lyons in the Sea of Red.

Lyons in the Sea of Red.

They have been statistically better with him as OC. They're defense is the issue

  7. Well said. Newby goes down on first contact with regularity. Why keep trying something when you're getting the same results? I'm asking you Nebraska coaches. There are obvious reasons we are 3-5 that have so much to do with these coaches and not the players.
  8. I think the players care and actually to me anyway they look like they're giving 100% out there. That's just my opinion. I think this team has talent. Enough to be better than 3-5. I think the rest is kind of obvious and might (does) fall under the 'Act like you've been coached' category.
  9. OSU CRASH SUSPECT CHARGED WITH SECOND DEGREE MURDER It will be really interesting to see these toxicology results after reading this.
  10. While it might not be likely how would you know this for certain?
  11. We should beat Purdue. They're pretty bad. They did end up only losing to Michigan State by 3 points but that was 3 weeks ago and MSU seems vulnerable to me also but that's a different subject. I still think Nebraska wins but this is an October road game. Weird things can happen.
  12. Hope he doesn't end up like Wilbon after those flashes (if he has them) and ride the bench.
  13. R.I.P Flip Saunders. Very sad news today... Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders dies of cancer at age 60
  14. Pelini vs Riley = Everybody loses. vs =
  15. He's only a redshirt freshman. He ran really well and I thought he threw well also. The NW receivers had their share of drops. 303 total yards for him yesterday.
  16. Thank our joke of an ad Shawn Eichorst for all of this mess. It's only going to get worse.
  17. Suh was easily our best. A Heisman trophy finalist. He won the Outland, Lombardi Award and the Bronco Nagurski trophies. He threw people around like rag dolls. Simply put he was the most dominant player in Nebraska football history. 1. Suh 2. Rich Glover (Finished 3rd in the 1972 Heisman trophy balloting) 3. Grant Wistrom 4. Trev Alberts 5. Neil Smith 6. Broderick Thomas 7. Jason Peter 8. Mike Brown 9. Larry Jacobson 10.Mike Minter
  18. Still the pre season but Dougie McBuckets coming up big for the Bulls with the final second game winner tonight in Lincoln.
  19. I was going to start a dedicated thread but I see there already is one. There was no stage too big for Tommie Frazier. That's what set him apart. He could make people miss, was a maestro at running the option offense and more than anything he could make big plays when the situation called for it. That's what made Frazier so special.
  20. On this date in 1975, one of the greatest World Series ever played ended as the Reds' Will McEnaney locked down Game 7, 4-3, with a perfect 9th inning. Joe Morgan's 2-out, 9th-inning single to score Ken Griffey was the game winner. It was Cincinnati's first World Championship since 1940.
