  1. Jake Cotton is making all those defenders hurdle him, slowing them just enough to spring Armstrong for the TD. Based on polo's long-term negative posts trend, I assume he's trying to criticize Jake Cotton. But the image shows that TA has a running lane, and we know that play results in a TD. Maybe polo is trying to say Cotton is doing a good job. Not clear from just an image what the point is. This might be worse than the throwing motion pictures. Polo do you realize what Cotton actually did on that play? He blocked his man (who was lined up play side, so the defender already had an advantage) down the line and when Cotton lost his advantage he cut him, keeping the lane open long enough for Tommy to get through. If you want to critique it, he probably could have waiting just a hair longer to cut.
  2. What do you think Sunshine there is day dreaming about?
  3. The fan poll has us at #10, which is nice...
  4. Thank god there are still rational people in power left in this country.
  5. Another LINK: Orbital use of the 1960s-made Russian engines that had been locked up in Siberia somewhere for decades. :o . My guess, vodka fueled. Ha ha! A true Russian would never waste vodka in that manner. Actually a lot of those old Russian rocket engines were fueled by a kerosene mix. They were a LOT cheaper to launch than the stuff we were sending up. Actually I'm pretty sure the first stage of the Saturn V, the most powerful rocket successfully launched ('Merca!) was fueled by kerosene.
  6. Never! I actually like the music. I'm a football should be rock kind of guy, but it was good.
  7. Even if we win out, it's a long shot for us to make the playoff. Everyone realizes FSU is overrated and we're all just waiting for them to drop a game, but they don't. Until they drop a game though they deserve to be in the top four. Personally I think they should be #1 until they lose, they have the right to defend there championship and should be rewarded for that with the top seed if they go undefeated. The Huskers on the other hand still haven't really proven anything. I don't even know who we are and the season is 2/3rds. We probably won't know who we are till the championship game or bowl season. We can play with anyone, but I still don't know that we can beat anyone. Until the season is in the books we won't know if this has all been a sham put on by a weak schedule and conference, i.e. this team tripping over itself when it matters most, or if they're the real deal.

Naw, I'm going to put some mandarin oranges in it, maybe some almond slices too, and use it for meals for the week. It's really good cold that way.

  9. Or do they deserve more? Isn't this why we have a playoff to work that out and not have more Utah States and Boise States?Marshall isn't a Boise State. IIRC, every year Boise State was in the discussion they actually beat a good team at the beginning of the season. Plus they did it enough times that they started to gain respect and get ranked in preseason polls and had a decent chance of going to the BCS championship game that year they lost to Nevada. But shouldn't we eliminate all doubt?

  11. Very true, but Matt is probably the best comparison. The other safeties we've had either didn't seem to be as good, or weren't fundamentally as sound.
  12. Damn I forgot about Matt. Personally I think Nate is probably there, statistically he's behind (O'Hanlon's senior year) but when you think that he's only a sophomore... He just seems to be in the right place at the right time. I'm sure someone can refresh me, but I can't remember him getting beat this year, I'm almost sure it happened a couple times though. Colorado called it.
  13. I don't know if he's all conference this year, but he's close. I can't think of a better safety we've had in the last few years, and he's only a sophomore. He can legitimately tackle (not the hit stick kind, but wrap up and stone a guy kind), he can pursue and cover just about anyone back there, and he has a great feel for where he needs to be. He's kind of a rover back there with his growing confidence. I hope we keep turning him lose and let him freelance a little.
  14. Why don't we quarantine people who have been in contact with the flu? It's a virus much more contagious than Ebola, and more deadly when it comes to shear numbers.
  15. I'm always curious as to who attends these NFL games in Europe. Is it just Americans living and traveling abroad, or is there actually genuine interest from across the pond.

I think it is probably similar to when EPL teams come over here... Plenty of NFL fans over in england... Probably not many Lions/Falcons fans but just excited to see the NFL.

  16. This maybe the first time I totally agree with you and don't feel the need to reply with the gif in your sig. Well said. +1
  17. How are we any different than the SEC other than we couldn't beat them early in the year? We have good teams being tested by unranked teams, not losing to them. Nebraska didn't look any worse against MSU than #3 Ole Miss against #23 LSU or #1 Miss State against Kentucky.
  18. He's honestly been a lot more candid this year...saying a lot of good things...little less coach speak this year, that's for sure.If we lose again this season I bet it changes. In the laconic word of my favorite Greek city state "If".
  19. You were drunk then. The team has team activities on Friday nights and they stay in a hotel under curfew.
  20. Tommy's words didn't seem to have a single ounce of empathy or or mourning. There was some empathy. But he just tells it point blank how it was, which I respect. Don't sugar coat things because he's gone, just be honest. They were two totally different people and never friends.
  21. Maybe the H back was supposed to climb instead of cave the end inside. Oregon runs a ton of ZR where they read the defenders at linebacker depth instead of the guy they CAN seal on the edge. Making the next level guy the read. Zone read isn't always just the d end being read, even though NCAA 2014 would have you believe. We realize that, but they also blocked every linebacker. While the DB is cheated up, he's still deeper than the LBs. Unless Cotton had a massive brain fart he was supposed to block the end (let the family jokes ensure), he goes to engage him immediately and that's the only guy he looks for at the snap. Sterup's technique is interesting, he uses it again for the quick pass on the ensuing play. Something I've always loved about our scheme is showing similar blocking for both run and pass, I've seen it mostly with pulling linemen in the past. NCAA 14 has reads off of ends, backer, tackles and DBs. :P
  22. Is it? While I don't have the time to read in depth on the subject everything I've ever read has always said that is pretty hard to definitively pin the weather on climate change. I understand why, since there are hundred if not millions of variables when it comes to the weather, but one of the links in the article seems to imply that deforestation may be the bigger culprit in this instance.
  23. Is that really a read play? They blocked the end man on the line, and doubled to the linebackers. Why would you run a read on the safety who is 6 yards deep and would have enough time to make the correct choice no matter who gets the ball? Looks like Ameer may have determined his cut back pre-snap since he had numbers to that side, the hole hadn't developed by the time he looked away.
  24. Completely different scenarios mi amigo Completely unintentional circumstances occured though. It could've happened to anyone on the team IMO. Bo is going by the book on this one...keeping things clean. Hint? Doesn't want to create any controversy and do things by the book. My opinion... I thought your last little bit was a hint as to why he was suspended. Sorry for the confusion. It may not have been a hint but it might as well have been. The rumor mill has theorized from the beginning that since the action was bad enough to warrant a full year suspension but not get kicked off the team that's probably what it was. But there has never been confirmation from the program and probably never will be. And Knap you should know by now, money is whatevs but substances are bad!
