  1. Were there not obvious blown calls? It did not cost us the game, but some of the calls were still obviously incorrect. You can say that about every single game in college football and there are always blown calls in both directions - so I supppose that every team board in the country will need one of these threads after every game win or lose. ok - that isn't totally true, there are some times that a team truly DOES get hosed (see Nebraska several times last year) or when a blown call actually does affect the outcome of the game. But in general it is just something both teams have to live with.
  2. I just figured the no call on that play in the endzone was a make up from one of the previous plays where they completely whiffed on the facemask that would have given Wisky the ball at the 6 instead of the 12. They missed some stuff early but overall I thought the refs did a decent job.
  3. I thought it looked like a pretty decently called game. Every flag they did throw I could definitely see why they called it on the replays and the ones that they missed seemed to be fairly well split between both teams.
  4. The OP does bring up a good point to watch out for when visiting other places in the Big 10. Unlike Nebraska - a lot of them require actual valid student IDs to get in on a student ticket. There is no upgrading to a normal ticket with them. Just be careful you don't get taken with buying a ticket that you won't be able to use.
  5. Not to mention having no Nebraska home games televised for the next 20 years.
  6. You get used to it. Ever since the formation of the BTN, the other sports media has gone out of their way to tear down the Big 10.
  7. We are doing a Big 12 legacy league (Big 12 plus conferences where the Big 12 teams went to). I suppose we will need to add SEC to the league next year, but I can't stand them so I might just keep it B10, Pac and Big 12. Keeping the number of leagues down helps keep track of it all for sure.

Integrated medical programs are counted - but Nebraska's medical stuff is on a different campus. Most of Iowa's comes from our medical school.
  9. Are you sure that you can't win by scoring less? Where do ref points count? (Just asking in case it is relevant for the game)
  10. Why do you people have to keep quoting the fat ugly chick pic instead of the Emma Watson pic?!?!?!?!? And why do idiots keep coming on here making Iowa fans look bad. Makes me keep wanting to go find a hole and hide. (Seriously - more Emma pics, less crap pics!)
  11. NOW we can all start to root against the teams that we don't like *cough Michigan* for the next 9 weeks!
  12. With the Pac staying at 12 I think that things might calm down for a bit.
  13. Yes we are getting sick of the safe playcalling - but we also know that he is a genius when it comes to finding underrated talent and developing them into NFL players. I would rather deal with 1 game a year being frustrated because in game coaching cost us the game than 8 games a year wishing we still had someone that knew how to recruit and develop the talent.
  14. We were booing the refs a little and some boos were aimed at the play calling but not the team. That game was insane. 3 quarters of the worst football I have seen us play since Ferentz's first couple of years at Iowa followed by the biggest comeback in school history. I still can't talk. Pitt started playing the prevent instead of sticking with what they had done the first three quarters and our OC finally realized that when you are down 3 scores maybe running off tackle into 8 in the box isn't the best move.
  15. All you people that think you will lose to Iowa - did any of you see us play Saturday??? You think you stunk, at least you still figured it out and won. I will agree that given what I have seen from Nebraska and what I have seen from Wisky that your first B10 game might be a little rough but after that you have a bunch of teams that are also looking like crap.
  16. Iowa should be #1 in the Big 10. We only lost to ISU in tripple OT and of course they are going to go on to win the Big 12 and the national championship and Iowa will finish #2 in the country after rolling through the Big 10! Makes as much sense as any comparison of Fresno State vs. Oregon State this early in the season with as little information as we have to go on. I don't tend to worry about how good or bad the competition of the competiton is until at least week 5 or so. Before then it all just seems a crapshoot. Look at the examples people gave of the seasons VT had last year or Michigan after App State. Things are so screwy in the first two weeks that it just seems to have zero bearing on how the teams will actually do once conference season starts.
  17. I had visions of a last ditch 2-point conversion going through my head allowing us to pull out the game like you guys last year. Too bad the Iowa State coach decided that our defense had so many holes that a 10 year old on crutches could have scored and just decided to keep playing until our offense forgot how to convert a 4th and 1 again. Really bad day for the Big 10 in general. At least many of the teams pulled it out after stinking up the joint early in the game (OSU, Blue, NE). 7-5 is not a good pre-season weekend for the league.
  18. One channel is Legends, the other is Leaders? Home team determines which channel it is on.
  19. From the points above there isn't anything in there that would have them not being equals - just asking for a few things that would apply to everyone. I can understand 8 conference games with being each others protected rival. That isn't unfair. It might be kind of hard to work out with the 8 vs. 9 but asking for it isn't unreasonable. Staggered scheduling to allow for mid-season non-con games is also reasonable. I think the Big 10 is the only conference that doesn't do staggered right now - I have seen non-con games mid-season for ACC, Pac12, SEC and Big12 for sure. Stating that they don't want to make any move until 2014 - that is only 3 years away and gives everyone time to get details worked out. There is nothing there that is asking for special treatment, just stating what their desires are for all teams to follow. Now I am leery about letting both of them in and risking them turning things into an us against them situation, but I am also willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Just make sure that Texas ends up with road games up to Madison and Penn State or the Big House in November their first year!
  20. As long as Texas and ND end up having to follow the same rules as everyone else in the conference I really don't care. I have confidence that if they do join it will be as equals.
  21. The Big 12 bowls will just pick up tie ins with the SEC/Big 10/Pac 12 and you will end up with more of those schools playing each other. Maybe they even add in a couple more tie ins with the Mountain West.
  22. It makes me sick to think of the SEC that far north.
  23. The ACC would need to change their charter to allow schools from states not on the Atlantic.
  24. If it is the same crew then they work for the conference UNLV is in (or freelance). Visiting team in non-con games typically brings in their officials I believe.
