    Looking to purchase a new camera. Any suggestions? Would like to keep it somewhat compact, but takes great pics.

      Do you want an SLR? If not, I'd just use your smart phone...

      But for SLR's, Nikon and Cannon are by far the best. I have a Nikon D5000 - don't think they make it anymore though. I'd look into either a Nikon D40 or Canon TSI.
