  1. As someone who teaches college students and always gets e-mails from a few of them a week before finals asking for extra credit (none of whom ever bothered to come to me for help during office hours the previous 4 months in the semester), having a coach also pestering me would be annoying as hell. Sorry, guy, it's not my fault this player is an idiot and/or didn't try harder.
  2. Ha ha! That's great! So, if it wasn't for that change of heart by one of your ancestors 150+ years ago, you might be posting Husker smack in this same thread. From your computer in Provo. While wearing a beehive hairdo. Exactly.
  3. I agree. It has just never felt very "Nebraska" to me. Can't explain it and I'm not anti-flag/military/American etc. Just always has seemed forced and out of place. Wouldn't miss it. Someone's finally saying this! I always thought it was really dorky.
  4. My mom's a genealogist and she found out that my great great (great?) grandmother and her sister traveled west with the Mormons and I believe Brigham Young was in the same group with them, or whatever. I think they must have written about it. (My memory on the whole thing is pretty bad - it could have been the same train or the same wagon train with Brigham Young, I dunno). Anyway, they traveled with them for the free ride because they needed wives, and then they just left the Mormons once they arrived in Nebraska.
  5. Taysom. I'm assuming he's head and shoulders above his backup whereas I'm not sure the same is true with Tommy.
  6. This is a good point 1995. Kellen Huston is now 33ish would be my guess, so he is probably not with the team anymore. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Are you saying it was OK knock someone out 10 years ago and now its frowned upon? Pretty sure he's saying it happened forever ago, and the player involved was already suspended, which has already been stated a dozen times. You're being willfully obtuse.
  7. I don't remember him dropping passes either.
  8. You might explain please... What world are you living in, that you can disparage a future employer and follow it up a day after you are employed and say something stupid on twitter about how the blackshirts are handed out. They acted properly, I would have done the same.God forbid someone asks why the guy in charge isnt held accountable for the things that have transpired while hes been in charge. Its not like the owner of a company, hes employed. There's nothing wrong with "someone" questioning Pearlman. There is something wrong for that someone if they want to have a job working for the guy they dissed.
  9. How can it possibly be a dead horse if the ramifications of the incident are currently playing out? Because you find it uncomfortable doesn't mean it's a dead conversation. It's current and topical. If you don't want to talk about it, don't. But don't tell us we can't. I did say carry on. Anyway, it's just comical that you're so worked up over this. As much as I would love for Gerry, Collins, Armstrong, Valentine, etc. to be suspended, I really don't care and haven't put an ounce of the energy you have into it. I guess I just don't get it. I don't care how other teams choose to punish their players. As you were. knapp's reason for giving the minuscule amount of sh#ts he gives has nothing to do with his worry about those players facing Nebraska, which is what you're implying when you mention Gerry, Collins, Armstrong, and Valentine. They did nothing wrong. We're not the team who refuses to self-discipline and lets our players get away with pretty much whatever the they want. The reason this is interesting to talk about is because the BYU coaches and clearly lots of the fans have no self-awareness about this.
  10. You crack me up dude. You have about 50 posts now about BYU and how everyone on their team should be suspended. Give it up dude. I hope your football team isn't as concerned about who will play or won't Saturday as you are. LOL. It seriously makes me laugh that this eats at you so much that you have basically copied and pasted the same stupid arguments over and over. Give it up. Like I said before, BYU will suspend those whom they think deserve it for a length of time they feel is appropriate. They've suspended critical players going into far more important games than this season opener in Lincoln. Says the non Nebraska fan who comes over to a Nebraska forum and makes 44 posts.
  11. No, they haven't. Although Nebraska probably came close last year against Miami. Are you claiming that 1 player losing his cool is the same as a bench-clearing brawl? And, btw, Huston was suspended for the next game. See, we suspended everyone involved in our "brawl." Ummm... I'm confused how is it different? If anything attacking a fan would be looked on as worse. Also Kai Nacua is getting suspended THE NEXT GAME, so i don't see your point there. We could go with the spring game if you really want to enforce the next game policy you seem to be worried about? Since when has a spring game turned into a.........game? I believe a spring game is a scrimmaged practice. If you need help seeing the difference in the two I'll draw you a picture using crayons Thanks crayons arent needed. I responded to the comment "And, btw, Huston was suspended for the next game." We didn't play any games after the bowl. This is usually the case with college football if you are confused. Hence Nacua will be suspended the next game as well. We aren't delaying any suspensions so they can play Nebraska. You guys are making a huge deal out of things that don't even apply to your team? I would hope you guys would be confident enough that you feel you can beat us without suspensions. I'd rather no one be injured or suspended on either team, but that doesn't make what your team is doing any less shady. The next game after the bowl game is the 1st game of the next season. That's how time works. If suspensions aren't being delayed just so they can do them for a different game, okay (I don't think I've mentioned that in any of my posts). But that means hardly anyone is getting punished properly when there were clearly dozens of players involved.
  12. And that was his first post on this board. Cut him some slack you grouchy ass. I wasn't being grouchy. I was trying to be helpful. Words on a screen don't show my sensitive side. When you posted it I was thinking "he probably really does mean 'with all due respect' here, but 'with all due respect' is usually used by someone who's about to be an a**hole."
  13. I don't think there's anything wrong with them caring what it said, and if I'm applying for a job and have said sh#t about my future boss, I'm not dumb enough to leave it up there. That being said, like others have said, they should have figured this out before hiring him.
  14. Seven days? Don't get confused wt the creation days. Genesis 5-7 80- 100 years per the Biblical story. I call BS. He wouldn't have lived long enough to build it. Some of the old testament peeps lived a long arse time. Noah was supposedly 950 when he died.
  15. Not everyone who says yes to the NC is rich. Some of them might own Husker memorabilia stores.
  16. No, they haven't. Although Nebraska probably came close last year against Miami. Are you claiming that 1 player losing his cool is the same as a bench-clearing brawl? We could go with the spring game if you really want to enforce the next game policy you seem to be worried about? You're devoid of logic about this. It's different because there were lots of BYU players involved who haven't been suspended for anything, but I don't think any explanation by me will convince you of the truth.
  17. No, they haven't. Although Nebraska probably came close last year against Miami. Are you claiming that 1 player losing his cool is the same as a bench-clearing brawl? And, btw, Huston was suspended for the next game. See, we suspended everyone involved in our "brawl."
  18. People have been complaining about it for at least 4 years now. It's never been a huge deal to me but it's still amusing to see recent players saying this "new" way is wrong, when it's actually the old way.
