Atheism is not religion. Pastafarianism is not religion. And while we're at it, boys are not girls, and girls are not boys. Aren't these things just common sense? What is America coming to?

I think you have to clarify what is meant by religion. Most people think of religion as a monotheistic belief system organized by following a set of rules as stated by that higher power.

You can also view religion as a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe without any divinity or dogma. Good examples of this would be unitarian universalists and budhism.

As such, we would say that LGBT people can be religious. With regards to NUance...
