  1. I think a plus one is the best way to go. Thinking back over as many years as i can remember, i cant think of maybe one or two teams a year who had a LEGITIMATE beef about not being allowed to play for the title. No way 6, 8, 10, 16 etc, have claim to being the BEST TEAM after a whole season has been played to sort that out. Win ALL your games and prove you belong there, I also think the playoff system makes for meaningless games at the end of the year. Divisions are clinched so there's no reason to care about those games, plus the rest of the teams who are mathematically eliminated from winning the division(this can be pretty early in the season too) have no reason to care either. As long as you can lock up a playoff spot, the season starts all over in the playoffs, so what u did all year doesn't matter. I agree the current college system isn't perfect (though not nearly as bad as many make it seem), but neither is a playoff. There have been teams go undefeated in the NFL regular season (Im thinking that makes you the best team) and still not win the championship, and teams that won only half their games( obviously not the best team) get hot, and win it all in the playoffs. Not the hellfire and damnation clear cut way to go in my opinion. Though the hype is on, and i think it will get rammed through anyway.
  2. I don't like their chances against The Road Warriors or The Wild Samoans. Maybe they'd have a better chance against the Hart Foundation or the British Bulldogs :funnyhahah
  3. Thats what I was thinking. By the way did you like the nicknames I gave them? I dont understand how you got those nicknames. Usually nicknames go with either the persons name of something they did. So im very confused how you would call Abdullah the Butcher. Green Machine makes a little more sense, but when i think of Green Machine, i think of this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygcConBiLV8 Dont really think that the inch taller and ten pounds of difference that green is over abdullh really is that much a problem. Dont know why everyone keeps saying that. Also Abdullah the Butcher was an old school WWF? wrestler. (350lb bald black guy.)
  4. I agree on player AND fan safety . Had no problem with cancelling the game. The problem is taking $400k to $600k in admission prices (Ave. attendance is 40 to 60 thousand at $10 a pop?) and providing NOTHING in return. No game, no refund, no Reschedule.
  5. I guess i wish i had a gig where i could make $400k plus then cancel the event, no reschedule, no refunds. I realize it wasn't on purpose but that was the end result. If the game is really no big deal, then don't charge admission at all.
  6. I think Ameer will mature, learn ball security, and become a solid, electric playmaker by in his junior and senior years.
  7. Won't be in the spring game Dang it! Also won't be playing in the spring game! Double Dang it!
  8. Jordan Westercamp will wow everyone on offense, and Michael Rose on Defense.
  9. Same memories for me. Every radio in the neighborhood, every Saturday. Congrats to him , He deserves it.
  10. A dynamic playmaking Qb can take a good team and turn them into a Championship team. Florida would have won many games without Tebow but i think hes what pushed them to a the 2 National Championships.Same with Vince young, Cam Newton, and i would even include Tommie Frazier. I dont know whether Taylor will ever be as good as those guys, but i really think he has improved this last season.Who knows with 2 more years to mature and learn? The thing i noticed thats keeping us out of National Championship contention, is the meltdowns and sloppy play that reared its ugly head a few time this year.Clean up stupid penalties, fumbles, catch the ball when its close, and Taylor looks much better. Add a couple more wins to our record this year too. In my opinion the losses this year were not Taylors fault.
  11. Did anyone else notice the talent level of both of the teams in that game? After watching every Husker game and many other college games this year , the 2 teams that played last night were FAR above everyone else , in fast, physical, playmakers at EVERY position. Both teams have been top 5-10 in recruiting for the last few years and i think it showed. I realize there are other teams that have good recruiting classes every year and still dont win (Texas,Notre Dame etc) but i really would like to see what Bo could do with players like that.
  12. Definitely need to get more pressure on the QB. Partly through different schemes and partly through recruiting/developing d-linemen (especially DEs)who are just a step or two faster. Too many times this year we had guys who beat their blocks and were in the backfield, chasing the QB ,but were too slow to get him. (Terrance moore and Cam come to mind). I remember having DEs like Carriker, Vandenbosch.Tomich, Wistrom, Etc who were fast enough to get there and finish the play. I dont see anyone coming up in the same league with those guys.
  13. John Blake landed many of the big rcruits during the Billy C regime if i remember right? Suh even? Not a great coach (Ask Oklahoma lol) but a really good recruiter.
  14. I dont mind when the Huskers lose to superior teams either. just didnt think that was the case in the bowl game. Wisconsin/Michigan were better teams than us , no problem in my book that we lost to them. Michigan wasnt 4 touchdowns better , but in the end i really doesnt matter. a loss is a loss. Before the Bowl game started i really worried that a big bad Sec team was gonna blow us off the field. To my surprise we hung right with them and should have been leading at the half by a touchdown or 2 IMO. I agree we need work on both lines. The best teams we ever had, opened holes that a bus could have run through and consistently beat their man on defense. Sure tacklers too. The higher the quality of your opponent, the less margin for error there is.They will make you pay for mistakes much more than lesser teams. When the QB hits you in the hands, you HAVE to catch it. When you have 2 defenders chasing the QB someone has got to bring him down. 12 games into the season, on a very important drive, you HAVE have to keep your butt down until the ball is snapped! Etc Etc. The last couple of years teams did far to many things like that in my opinion.
  15. 1. I think the impact of Bo's yelling is far overblown. Did the refs really throw more flags because he was yelling? I didnt see that, but i did see them blow a bunch of calls before he did. I mean, if Yoshi stands up before the ball is snapped 15 times in a row theyre gonna call it whether Bo is yelling or not. Did his yelling really cause Yoshi to do that? Im thinking not. 2. Jason Peter was a great player and i loved the nasty attiude he and his teammmates had back in the day. I wish the players today had more of it. Lets not kid ourselves though, if he was in some of the same situations Bo has been in i have a hard time believing Jason wouldnt have the same meltdowns, if not worse. 3. To the poster who was getting crap from his SC alum buddies. They might wanna take a look at their own coach before bragging too much. Very few coaches ever, were bigger yelling crybabies than the old ball coach himself! Including some moments in the bowl game. 4.Why does it really matter what the media says? Really has no impact at all in my opinion. The game is played on the field not in the newspaper.
  16. Seems like the teams of the last couple of years start making mistakes and cant stop. Dropped passes, fumbles ,stupid penalties, tons of missed tackles and blown pass coverages. Coaches? Partly yes. Players Absolutely. If the players cant execute simple things we cant beat quality teams. Biggest disappointments this year for me were this game and the northwestern game where i thought we were the better team and still lost. I remember a couple games like that last year also.
  17. Totally disgusting. Hands them the game with REPEATED stupid plays. Dammit!!
  18. Good god im gonna puke. Beat them up and down the field the entire half then it ends up on a garbage play like that!
  19. We will win national championships when the next Tommie Frazier, Eric Crouch, etc... Type of star player shows up. (Especially at QB) Without those 2 guys you could erase 3 championships. We have a talent loaded team, but I just dont see that guy on this team (Maybe Burkhead ?) I was actually impressed this year with the progress Taylor made, and maybe in another year or 2 he could be that guy. Its been shown time and time again. No Cam Newton = Auburn losing 2 or three games , no Championship. No Vince Young = Texas losing to USC and probably at least 1 or 2 more games.. Etc. etc.etc.
  20. Anybody see the latest BCS rankings. Not one BIG team in the top ten. Not good. Would like to see more, including the Huskers in the future! Bring on the competition.
  21. If you can consistently have winning seasons and you finally get that one or two "Star" players to emerge, thats how championships are won. No Tommy Frazier/Lawrence Phillips etc= no National Championship. No Tim Tebow/ Percy Harvin= no championship. Vince Young, Cam Newton, the list goes on and on. Coaches can only do so much, and GREAT players are the difference between GOOD seasons and Championship ones.
  22. Up til now i wouldnt have called his play dirty. This play was. IMO. He'll get suspended, and fined, and hopefully learn to control himself better. He's an awesome player and could go down as one of the NFL's greatest. I would hate to see crap like this be his downfall ! I saw this coming when he was labeled "dirty" in the first place. There will always be an extra elbow in his ribs, yank on his facemask, or any kind of extra shot guys can get, trying to get him to snap. He has to rise above it somehow.
