My guess is that OPS and other public school districts in the Omaha area were utilizing large food distributors and developed meal plans for the entire district.  I doubt the lunch lady at my elementary, junior high, and senior high schools was developing the meal plan on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.  I know the food served in the school cafeterias weren't scratch-made.  It was definitely pre-packaged/frozen foods which were heated up.

Yes, I went to public schools my entire childhood in Omaha.  You grew up in Fremont, which to Omahans is considered a "small town".  Anything other than Lincoln is considered a small town to most Omahans.

What city did you grow up in.  I grew up in Omaha and we didn't have that for lunch.

@knapplc I get the nostalgia, that's what it is for my wife.  My comment is more that I also grew up in Nebraska and we didn't have chili and cinnamon rolls at lunch.  Was it more common in the smaller towns?

Back to the cinnamon rolls and chili topic, I don't get the connection, but I have grown to accept it.  My wife is from Hastings, and she said they served those together at lunch.  I am from Omaha, and we didn't have chili and cinnamon rolls served together.  Now, whenever my wife makes chili for dinner, she serves cinnamon rolls along with it.

Clemson selects, they don't recruit.  Northwestern is limited on who they can offer scholarships based on their academic requirements.  It would be a waste for them to offer a guy that they know will never get admitted to the school.  Yes, I know that admittance requirements to Northwestern are lower for athletes, but it's still more stringent than getting into a school like Nebraska.

Can't get a kid interested and visit Nebraska unless the staff offers them a scholarship.  The staff wants to cast a wide net, and work to get the commits/signees after that.

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives would visit beef on weck places in the past and the sandwiches always looked amazing.  Between those places and the Pit Beef sandwich places in Baltimore, I would always good so hungry watching those shows.

@BigRedBuster is correct.  Beef on weck is a Buffalo staple where it has thinly sliced roast beef served on a soft roll, and the roll typically kosher salt and caraway seeds on top.  The founders of BWW were Buffalo transplants who were living in Ohio, and they couldn't find the wings and beef on weck sandwiches in Ohio, so they started the restaurant.

Teach has the answer mostly correct.  When the restaurant was opened in Lincoln in the mid 90s, the name was BW-3, so it was nicknamed B-Dubs.  In 1998 the restaurant chain re-branded to Buffalo Wild Wings.

BW-3 (now Buffalo Wild Wings, again not sure if it's still open in Lincoln) had 20 cent wings on Tuesdays, and then it slowly was raised in increments of 5 cents as it was a popular cheap dinner option for students in Lincoln.

It takes a lot more chickens to create 2 lbs of chicken wings, than it does to create 2 lbs of chicken drumsticks.
