  1. I don't think they'll recast either. One problem is if she and Luke haven't reunited they need to deal with Luke's mourning her, if they do go with her character dying. And if her character's death wasn't planned (I doubt it was - Han was enough) then it makes whoever killed her even more hated. So if they have it be caused directly by Kylo it makes him a lot less redeemable. Not that he's super redeemable after killing Han. I read in an article on Yahoo that she was supposed to be in IX too. They brought up the chance that they may use a hologram like they did for Gov Tarkin in VII. She was done filming all of her scenes for VIII, it is now a matter if they try the hologram route or kill her off "between" movies to explain as to why she isn't in it. Or maybe she goes into hiding...they could handle it in many ways.
  2. I think a big part of it has to do with part of our culture and fear. We already spend more on defense than the next 7-8 countries combined, yet we have political figures (like Trump) who bully for higher spending, increased troops and aircraft. I'm all for improving the lives of our veterans, but I don't think I can be convinced that we need to expand our military even more. We would already stomp the world if we needed to. Agree 100%. We currently don't seem capable to support the veterans we have, why would we want to expand the amount of veterans we have? You guys are confused as it pertains about cutting military spending. The cuts shouldn't come from peoples entitlements, it should come from the many projects that spend an astronomical amount on crap that either doesn't pan out or is in some cases decades behind schedule. But the lobbyists (both sides of the isle) pay "our" representatives off to keep those black holes funded. So to cut spending a$$hole$ like McCain who leads the committee that proposes such things to the president and congress that recommended cutting veterans benefits while the companies behind these "black hole" projects get wealthier. That is where Trump rightfully criticized McCain and his treatment of the military. He has pretty much stabbed us in the back. Typically the Dems (rightfully so) catch hell from the military because they have historically been the party that has concentrating on taking away or reducing military benefits, but at least on the latest round, it was McCain who hypocritically suggested deep cuts in Housing and other entitlements that he received while being on active duty that were eventually taken out of the proposed budget.
  3. Agreed ... but if it is a 0.0 GPA ... you get this guy out of leadership, out of practices, off the field ... never in a game, etc. 0.0 to me means you fat, drunk and stupid ... and we don't bring in kids on scholarship to play football and not earn a degree. Not here to debate ... I just don't get it. I'm questioning the post more then anything at this point. It's more about someone who is all about himself and thinking that he's going to the NFL.
  4. Sadly, I think this may be correct. A 0.0 GPA pretty much proves that.
  5. Lowered expectations. Many of those losses were embarassing because our experienced coaching staff couldn't figure out how to manage the clock or call time outs and they never should have happened. Iowa was embarrassing because our offensive coordinator literally threw the game away. Way more embarrassing than losing to Iowa state, A&M, or T Tech. Arguing whose losses are more embarrassing is like arguing if you'd rather contract ebola or malaria - either way, you're going to have a bad time. +1 I would rather NU not get their assess kicked like that no matter who the coach is. The sad truth is that all four coaches since Tom have had embarrassing losses and your last line nailed trying to compare the different levels of embarrassment that came from them.
  6. Yet he's one win away from having a better season than Bo did in 7 years....even with two blowout losses.See how easy that was? 10-3 without a conference championship game is not better than 10-4 with a conference championship loss. That said this is Riley's 2nd season. Better is a relative term. In this example, is it better to eat a dog turd from Labrador or from a Golden Retriever? 10-3 without a CCG or 10-4 and embarrassingly blown out in CCG.......I might take the 10-3 personally. So Labrador turd it is. Yeah, but Bo also had 10-4 seasons with agonizingly close losses in Big 12 championship games. I would say those are both better than the best Riley season so far. Bo was just fortunate that Billy C left him nfl talent while Bo left a team of guys who may not get drafted at all. If they do it may be the last day, which also says a lot about the level of coaching we are getting now compared to Bo's staff. Let's see how MR preforms once he raises the talent level to where it should be then compare Bo's best season's with MR's.
  7. Are you saying that you don't see the obvious bias that every network minus Fox has against any Republican? (And yes Fox is just as bad in the other direction) Not to mention the collusion that CNN and others had with the DNC and the Clinton campaign during both the primaries and the general election is an embarrassment and that is the definition of corrupt liberal bias. The media is a joke because they hate anything republican and got caught with their biased ways, so Trump tweets to bypass them. I would do the same thing if I was in his shoes, why take the abuse from a bunch of liberal hacks that try to state that they are not bias when the evidence shows otherwise. Now they once again want to show fake moral outrage for another topic that isn't true. Where was the outrage when the DNC was caught paying people to start fights at Trump rallies? They can't accept that they lost, so now it's Russia's fault that they lost. Now we have a POTUS wasting taxpayer dollars investigating something that was proven didn't happen months ago with no new evidence to come forward. If he was that worried about it, why not investigate it months ago? Or why wasn't it big deal when five foreign nations were able to hack into Hillary's illegal server that had national security info in them? But no, he lost, his legacy lost, and the Dems got slapped around last month because their elitist "we are smarter than you are and if you don't agree with us then you are a homophobe, racist, or sexist" attitude is out of touch with the country. Instead of losing gracefully, they bring up a bogus conspiracy theory which only makes them look worse to anyone that has half a brain. Dems (as in elected officials, not anyone on here) need to grow a pair, admit that they are wrong and screwed this election up and get in touch with reality. If not then they are going to be in worse condition than the R's were in 2012.
  8. Wasn't the team already down like 31 - 3 with wheels coming off in all directions when Tommy got hurt? No actually they were driving to bring it within striking distance. After Tommy got hurt around tOSU 20 yard line. We were stopped on a 4th down, and tOSU drove the field and went up another TD. It was a 14 point swing in about 2 minutes of gametime. It was a crusher in multiple ways. Then halftime, and tOSU had the ball to start at halftime and the rest is history. No. They were already down four touchdowns. Tommy stays healthy and the game is perhaps 55 - 10. 48 - 17 at best. The ass-kicking was well in progress. We were in a similar "striking distance" scenario against Iowa, and the odds against Ohio State were worse. Nebraska had little margin of error to begin with, and went downhill quick. Also, Ohio State was having a perfect storm of a game, coming off a wake-up call and a loss and totally dialed in at every level. Not true. They were driving to potentially make it 24-10, and have some momentum. Would they have won the game with Tommy, no. But they wouldn't have lost by 60 points. That was a back breaker of all back breakers. To be driving to potentially bring the game within reach, to losing your starting QB and leader, to not making a 4th and short, to tOSU driving and scoring just before half. It was about 5 minutes of game time that broke their will. So isn't having no back up QB part of a lack of talent? Honestly I think TA would have been benched in that game if he wasn't hurt as he was playing pathetically in that game. 99% of our issues right now are because of a lack of talent, we don't call certain plays because our QB who has a heart of a champion but can't read a defense to save his life. Our LB's stink, DL gets worn out due to lack of depth, which leads to no pass rush and our DB's having to cover guys forever. Not to mention the 3 walk-ons that we started on the OL for most of the year. And these aren't the All American walk-ons talent level that we had under Tom, these were guys that shouldn't have been used for anything more than a scout team at best. If in 3-4 years we are still in this situation then feel free to call it coaching, but as of now the only logical answer is the lack of talent that Bo left MR and co.
  9. Sounds a lot like Joe Dailey when he went to Duke.
  10. Yeah, I don't get that either. I think we have recruited the QB well after Martinez (nothing against him). The only issues about recruiting would be getting guys with too different of skill sets and missing on Burrow. Development has been an issue though, so that may be something to gripe about. We didn't "miss" on Burrow, Bo's staff ignored him on his official visit and he went to Ohio State. That is just more proof that they were crappy recruiters as they screwed the pooch on that one and all of the other guys that they recruited sucked as it has been proven in later posts after yours in this thread and that is why we are in this situation. IMO their problem was that they thought they could "coach up" any player to B1G level caliber play and it is ok to have some of those guys on your roster, but they can't be the overwhelmingly majority as they were under Bo. He hated the recruiting game and pandering to high school kids to come here, so he didn't do it and used the excuse that it is too hard to recruit difference makers to come to Nebraska which it total bs.
  11. Hmmm. Maybe you should pass this info off to a couple of guys who are or were our athletic directors. At least this point is relevant. There's been quite a few troll posts around here lately. What's up with that? Stop. Pelini dug his own hole and Frankie was twiddling around a hole he shouldn't have been. They set up their own guillotines. What?Pelini was a dick to his bosses and refused to alter his staff when complacency set in. Then he turned on everyone besides his staff and players.Frank let his staff run amuck if you will, while he had dabbled in extra carricular activities of his own. That pretty much sums it up. Don't really care about that stuff. You said what in response to them diggin their own holes, I summed it up. You may not care about it, but that's why they were fired. They led themselves to the guillotine, not their records. Let's make that clear. Apparently Urban Meyer wasn't buying that back when Solich was fired. No, Urban was smart enough to know that he would be taking over a team that didn't have very much talent with zero difference makers. Combine that with a fan base who had unrealistic expectations at the time and you will find the root cause of why nobody wanted the job.
  12. I hope we can, but to get that started the left has to stop branding everyone that disagrees with them as "ists" or is something doesn't go the way they think it should, it isn't because of an "ism" or that group of people are not "phobes." The part that worries me is that it seems that the Dem's didn't learn as to why they lost, instead of doing some real soul searching, they have gone further left which will lead to them getting their butts handed to them in the 2018 mid term election. They need to push the younger people to lead the party and reelecting Pelosi was the worst thing they could do. She is 76 and way out of touch with the American people as are the Dems as a party. Their only way back is to come back closer to the center and that isn't happening. Forget about Sanders, Warren and Pelosi as leaders as they will put you even further in the toilet by further classifying everyone and blaming losing on everyone but themselves. People don't like whiny sore losers. Here's a good article about the problems that the Dem's have right now: I'm a Democrat but Clinton staffer Jennifer Palmieri's twisted logic is exactly why we lost http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/12/08/im-democrat-but-clinton-staffer-jennifer-palmieris-twisted-logic-is-exactly-why-lost.html With that being said the Reps haven't learned either, the far right is just as bad as the left and the only reason that they won was because a lifelong Dem ran as an Rep since he knew that the Dems were going to make Hillary their nominee no matter who ran. The country needs the Dems to come back to the center and win some seats in 2018 because if one side (no matter which one) has all the power will pull the country too far in their direction. There needs to be checks and balances and that won't happen if the Dem's are still going to follow the three stooges that I mentioned above.
  13. They probably have a few more bad recruiting classes and still get fired. But I agree with you because of the 2003 season's record people needed to see another poor year under Frank to get everyone to accept that he needed to be fired. It was justified when it happened, but it was obviously handled very poorly due to Peterson's arrogance and ignorance. It is very likely that 2004/2005 wouldn't have been great years for us and then the timing would have been better to let Frank and company go for everyone involved. That is how a leader (AD) is supposed to handle these situations because you have to look at the issue from all angles, not just the emotional one of getting blown out vs any team with a pulse and beating bad teams. Unfortunately we are still not out of that rut 16 years later.
  14. Might want to re-watch the 2001 NU-CU game (Warning-keep a bucket handy) and realize he was mostly responsible for our defensive performance in that game. Yep, he was a terrible DC here as he wasted a ton of talent that Charlie left him. One of the worst individual calls ever made by a DC was against KSU in their place on a 3rd and long (I believe it was like 17 or so) at their own 3 and he played a prevent defense instead of bringing pressure. They got the first down and ran out the clock for what I believe was their second strait win against us in Mancrappin. He like Frank and Bo seem to do well at lower levels, which is great for them as there is nothing wrong with having success at lower levels of CFB. With that being said, it doesn't mean they were a good fit for NU at the time or now.
  15. No question talent is important. But so are all the other things I mentioned above. Because talent doesn't exist in a vacuum. Yes you are correct that all of that stuff matters, but talent is the most important of those factors. It doesn't matter how good your coach is if you don't have the talent to run your schemes on the field. Yes sometimes coaching can cause a team to not preform up to it's talent level and sometimes good coaching can cause players to over preform their talent level for stretches. But to win on a consistent basis, the team with the most talent is going to win in spite of good or bad coaching. A good example of this is Mac Brown's career at Texass. The guy was a terrible game day coach, but won only because of the talent that he had.
  16. Yes it has and it is the reason they are about to get taken behind the same woodshed we did when we played Ohio State.
  17. Michigan dominated OSU for 3 quarters. They aren't a question mark. Just because they lost a game when they didn't have their starting QB doesn't put a question mark behind them, imo. Also regarding PSU. Losing early and improving like crazy is completely different from folding late, which is what NU did. That's not even remotely comparable. NU got worse through the year. Penn State got 100x better. You misunderstood my "question mark" on Michigan. I'm not sold on them being quite at the level of OSU yet. Proof of that is that OSU was able to come back and beat them. Still with Harbaugh, Michigan hasn't won any championships. Yes, they are better than us right now.....and...they are closer to OSU than we are to them. From there, I'm not sure exactly how far behind we are from them. No...I'm not sold on that PSU is head and shoulders above us. We took Wisconsin to overtime when our players were mostly healthy. Wisconsin was winning that game by 21 at one point. I still say we are in the ball park of Wisconsin, PSU and Iowa. I want to see Michigan next year after they lose around 17-18 starters either to graduation or the draft. Then Harbaugh will have to use the guys he recruited as all of Hoke's guys are gone after the bowl game. I see them taking a tempory step back to the pack next year until they get the young guys some experience.
  18. They also bagged on our offensive play calling.....no disagreeing with you at all. We have several issues. Talent, coaching, lack of development......Cav and his "chemistry" theory over making a good OL...... works unless we have injuries, or no depth or lack of talent....Langs and his play calling..... An OC is limited in his playcalling with limited talent on the OL, combine that with a QB to refuses to throw the ball just to move the chain and you get a very limited playbook. Hopefully starting next year with better OL talent and hopefully a QB who can read a defense and take what is open to keep drives alive will be a huge improvement alone. Then on Defense we have no depth on the DL or LB's, so we can't practice physical because we are screwed if any of them get hurt. I am sure Parella wants his boys to get nasty like we were when he played, but he also realizes that he needs to recruit more horses so they can practice like they need to.
  19. I think PSU shows it's achievable... although their recruiting is usually above ours. I remember when PSU was going through the Paterno crap and a lot of Nebraska fans saying that they were thankful that NU was on the rise at the time and glad that we weren't in PSU's position with the sanctions. Well they just won their first B1G Championship game and we are still waiting.
  20. Well said as there were times that we had the short routes open that could have gained yardage and moved the chains that TA wouldn't even look at throwing to. That is one easy way for a QB to make up for a lack of mobility.
  21. How is anyone in the SEC other than Alabama still ranked? They all (or will after this weekend) have 4 losses. That is pretty crappy when only one team in an entire conference will end up with less than 4 losses.

  23. Yeah, we have some O-line and D-line guys coming off redshirt seasons that should help out. The lines, on both sides of the ball, are the biggest areas we need to improve in. IMHO Consistent QB and LB play would help a lot too.
