  1. Black uni's for penn st at home next year!!! New tradition!!!
  2. Under T.O. I would have to agree with this statement. Everyone knew we were going to run right over and through them. But now, under Pelini, our identity has shifted more to a defensive team. Everyone knows we are going to be very aggressive on D and extremely hard to score on. Not so sure about that. I live in SEC country, and (with the possible exception of LSU fans who are familiar with Bo), when you mention the Huskers the first thing they talk about is a physical, run-first, grind 'em down offense. I attribute that to the length of time that Nebraska ran the Power I/Option. I think this probably holds for most of the country. That is cuz most of the SEC doesn't know what an offense is or looks like.
  3. It's a celebration!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSV36-bz-Xw
  4. I am depressed every day I think about the fact that we didn't get Vandenberg. To the guy who looks like he is the age of his own number.
  5. Yeah, right after Colorado joint the Pac12. . . . But why would anyone leave? All I hear is about how Texas, er, the Big 12 is so great.
  6. Write me up as scared. The one thing teams could still do with some success was scramble for yards when we closed down the passing game. Look at Gilbert who has below average scrambling ability and got 71 yards and 2 tds on us. Locker still couldn't throw against us in the bowl game but still managed to run around for 83 yards and a touchdown. Yeah those aren't electric numbers but when teams couldn't throw and we all knew they couldn't, they still had some success outside the pocket. Wisconsin also has two monster halfbacks to rely on as well that will only make Wilson's transition easier. I think this make Wiscy the new favorite.
  7. Lack of potential? Seriously? Sure, they're young.....but no potential? I think barring injury Tmart/Rex easily get in this year as they're both money. With our defense shutting down the Big10 offenses we'll have lots & lots of chances to learn Beck's system this year and should progress in a somewhat linear fashion. Having Carnes and three greased lightning freshmen rbs backing them up helps boatloads too. Heh, sorry Hercules.....the kool-aid is overwhelming me. :koolaid2: I think there's a lack of potential for the offensive line to very good this year. We have some potential down the road, but I think our potential for this year looks no different than the past few seasons. Yeah, I should have known that's what you meant. Sorry.... I still think Barney's job might be a LOT easier under Beck though. Just speculation with zero proof of course. We'll see my friend but don't be too shocked if things improve in a substantial way. I also think Beck might have an offensive style more suitable to what Barney knows better as well (maybe).
  8. I think the second article got it right. Nebraska is the greatest!
  9. Im actually concerned about our secondary, not so much with Dennard, Osborne, Cassidy. But more with who is gonna replace Prince, Hagg, Gomes. I know we may see more 4-3 this year, but at sametime we need solid dime/nickel/peso packages with those spread teams we are gonna face. Sorry but Cassidy sucks. Yes he does thats why he replaced Thearnse at safety after the Texas game. Not saying he is an absolutely stud, but he is not a liabilty out there. Remember people dogged on O'Hanlon throughout his Senior year. But by the end of it he was one of best safeties in the conference. Cassidy isn't bad at all. He's not flashy, but he's a good tackler. and thats why he replaced thenarse...thenarse can't tackle
  10. i just hope rex's legs are ready for a burning...cuz they r gonna get all kinds of use next year
  11. When I watched his film I was more impressed by him than Green. I think this guy could be big. I mean BIG.
  12. Pelini defenses have done just fine against running offenses in the past. The only team that was able to really move the ball on the ground this last season was Okie St., but that was because they had a lethal passing attack. I seem to remember how KSU was going to run all over our "small" defense as well. Like most games it's going to come down to the players, how they play and how they matchup. But that is KSU. They didn't have anything to offer but Daniel Thomas. These Big 10 schools have some verteran QB's that will be able to do enough in the passing game that we can't just have our eyes in the backfield. If I remember right KSU had opportunities but couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with their passes. MSU and Wisconsin will provide some unique challenges we haven't seen in a while.
  13. The thing about Pelini's defenses are that they have all been great at stopping throwing oriented spread offenses. We have had issues with teams that run the ball well like Okie St and Kendall Hunter racking up yards like crazy. Not to mention Washington did an excellent job of running the ball against us the first time, but still kept trying to throw the ball for some reason. I don't know how well we can handle run oriented offenses.
  14. Haven't seen this topic yet and it is always a good way to kill some of the summer away while we wait for the 2011 season. I see a lot of potential next year, but I think our schedule will catch up with us. I don't see us getting out of this conference schedule without suffering some hard ache. To many times Nebraska has let downs that have just happened to correlate with bad games that we get away with a victory (check out Iowa State and South Dakota State). 9/03 Chattanooga 09/10 Fresno State 09/17 Washington 09/24 @Wyoming TVN 6:30 pm 10/01 @Wisconsin ESPN 7 pm 10/08 Ohio State 10/22 @Minnesota 10/29 Michigan St 11/05 Northwestern 11/12 @Penn State 11/19 @Michigan 11/25 Iowa 12/03 Big Ten Champ ??/?? Bowl Game Chattanooga-(W) Just another game to get ourselves on track. Not too much to worry about unless we have some major issues this year we don't know about. Fresno State-(W) Good team from last year that should pose a threat. Might figure out what we need to work on as a team as they pushed Nevada last year, but weren't really a dominant team. Washington-(Toss Up) We all know what happened in the bowl game. This team only gets better as the loss of Locker is the only thing this team really experiences. Kearse and Polk combo could be scary in Lincoln. Wyoming-(W) It's in Wyoming, but I am not scared and nor should you. They do return 19 starters. Wisconsin-(L) Opening night in the Big 10 for the Big Red. I am scared that this might be an unwelcoming entrance to the Big 10 as Wisconsin has two great halfbacks that return and an o-line that just reloads. Ohio State-(L) Pryor walks back into the spotlight and ruins our big day. The game is close, but I don't see Pryor letting this one slip through his fingers. Minnesota-(W) Even we can't mess this one up. New coach-same Gophers. Michigan State-(Toss Up) Loads of talent back and they are set to have another good year. I think this game can be our make or break game of the season and whether or not we have a shot at the Big 10 title game. Northwestern-(W) Persa has injury issues and losses a lot of talent. Another must have. Penn State- (W) Penn State has more issues than we do but Beaver Stadium isn't nice to us. Michigan- (W) Robinson is scary, but a new coach and all kinds of issues to solve I think we can take this one in the Big House. Iowa- (W) No more Clayborn and Stanzi so I think it is safe to say that Nebraska finishes a lot smoother than it started. Big 10 title?? I would say we end up being 6-2 or 5-3 in the conference which means a lot is riding on whether we beat Michigan State or not. I think that MSU has 2 losses as well without the Nebraska game. Could we beat Wisonsin or Ohio State in a rematch? Bowl- I say we make the Gator Bowl and maybe see Florida or Arkansas. I think that Nebraska goes 8-4(5-3) in the conference. I think we end up in a weird tie in the legends division and a tiebreaker says whether we can make it to the title game or not. I don't think we are going to have the year we all hope it can be. I would like to hear what you all have to say.
  15. All i remember is Carnes rolling out of the pocket and rifling a 15 to 20 yard ball on the money, that was close to the sideline. I don't carer who you are throwing against, that is impressive. I think he has all the potential in the world to unseat Martinez if he picks up the playbook well enough.
  16. I hope we get him. Kid looks like a stud when he turns the wheels on. Maybe he can help fill in some talent at our receiver corp.
  17. why must jacksonville take gabbert?!?!?!?!!?
