gobigred911
Absolutley not The conversation took place this morning. But i will not give up the identites of the people i spoke with. Let me say this -I find it funny that people say bill is a snake when we lose games but in the past when we won games people loved him. Now that we lose people tarnish his good name. He may have failed us, but we all know better than this. We should have class and not rip people we've never spoken to -Callahan will be given 2 more years. Yes, I know. 2 more years, TO didnt say this directly but my sources said that a big 12 championship, not appearace would solidify his position for years to come. -The players said that they sensed TO did not want Nebraska to become another Alabama funneling coaches in and out and they pointed to the current coach Saban, not getting any different results than Shula despite being paid big bucks. Danimal
Osborne is not telling the players what he's going to do. Also, if he had already decided to keep Callahan he'd make it public to stop the constant questioning Billy C is receiving in regards to his future. Who knows, he may keep Callahan (doubtful), but he certainly hasn't shared that with anyone. Gotta agree. Don't tell anything to the players you would be afraid of getting out to the public. Ya if TO does actually plan to "forgive" this season why the hell wouldn't he give BC some public support? If he is really that big on BC he has handled this situation piss-poorly. Not even for giving BC a shot but for letting the rumor-circus run-amuck and big recruits to decommit. Should've at-least given the staff the old "vote of confidence". And don' give me any crap about that not being TO's way of doing things. He is the AD, if the coach he is keeping is getting barraged with firing-talk he has to step-up and make public statement to the contrary. Quote Link to comment
restored_order
This is our worst nightmare come true. Callllllahan will never lead us to anything but the bottom of the Big 12, and if Osborne wants to keep him around, it would do nothing but destroy my belief in Tom as a football man. Pasadena Husker
Brace yourselves big red nation for what I am about to say will make some of you very unhappy After speaking with several former players who have spoken to TO regarding the head coaching position, there will be NO change. I was floored! The players said that osborne believes bill is a man of integrity and loyalty, and that this season was simply a fluke. A fluke? I think TO is a genius like all of husker nation. But r u serious? And please I dont want to hear any of this "you just made that up crap" this is 100% accurate. I really wish it wasn't but the players i spoke to said that TO believed in second chances and that one poor season should not require a firing. However, they did say that there would be a couple of staff changes, assuming coz is quiting and that the D -line coach would be promoted to coordinator. WHY! pants on fire! Quote Link to comment
HuskerTrucker
lol...here we go again....I am SOOOO tired of these silly rumors. I still say that OJ Simpson is coming in to clean up...hell he did so well cleaning up after killing his wife, should be no problem to clean up the football program...otherwise he could always run a sting operation and find out how KU does it....lol. HuskerNCo
But what if... what if Tom keeps him? Lots of folks will be pissed off. Part of me wants TO to keep Coach Callahan JUST to piss you people off. Make me really laugh. Come on it's only barely year 4. Retool the defense...who knows. The other part is like, well, maybe... Do you all really want to start over? I know that a new coach will have the talent-thanks to Coach Callahan, but really, do we want to start all over???? NOT ME. Quote Link to comment

HSKRNOKC
Give names and dates of your conversations or you have zero credibility. I have to agree with that assessment. Quote Link to comment
moe
I can not wait until Friday. If anything, this Friday will likely be the day that these "rumors" are done! I know I'm here, but it will nice to log onto HB and not see the latest rumor. Of course I want our beloved Huskers to win, as with every game, but I think a large part of my anticipation is due to my need for closure. Me today: Me Friday night, regardless of the "decision", with closure: Quote Link to comment

Are'nt the biggest problems with this defense is that the D-line are not getting any pressure or filling the holes? Why would anyone take the coach of the biggest problem area and let that coach become the DC? Quote Link to comment
Husker_x
If this is true, which I serioulsy doubt, then Osborne is probably not fit for AD. Look, bottom line, our program can't survive another season like this. At the end of next season when Memorial stadium is an empty, hollow shell, the money has dried up and the state's economy suddenly is rocked because of Callahan's incompetence, all fingers point to TO for being perhaps the single greatest instigator outside of Pederson of the downfall of Husker football. It's a sad fact, but TO's only questionable character trait is his coaching choices, a la Solich. People seem to forget that losing is the least of Callahan's problems. Osborne said that he would try to help in any way he could, but there would also be accountability. He's also said that no decision has been made at all. Frankly I believe nothing at this point, but of all the rumors this one is the most ridiculous. I'd basically be forced to believe that Osbrone is an idiot, which is impossible, as he's Tom freakin' Osborne. He knows that Callahan has all but destroyed every tradition this school has. He's poisoned Husker football perhaps forever. Anything short of total overhall is disastrous. It would kill me to see Osborne destroyed in the flames of Callahan's swirling inferno. This week couldn't be over soon enough. X Quote Link to comment

This "rumor" makes the most sense of all. I have posted this scenario more than once in the past week. I think that if Callahan had anyone besides Osborne as his boss, he would be gone without a question. If this turns out to be untrue and Callahan is fired, then fine. I will support Callahan, and I will support a new coach if we get one. I just hope that whatever move Osborne makes, it ends up being the best move. although highly unlikely, if thats TO's decision, I am totally down with it. he's more familiar with the situation and more knowledgeable then I am.
