What do u do on Game Day???

Recommended Posts

I usually wake up and wait for my wife to crest the top of the stairs and then I tackle her with no self-regard for my own personal safety or hers! Then I stand over her and throw the bones and yell, "ALL DAY BABY THE PAIN TRAIN'S COMING WOO WOO!" Then I go downstairs and prepare myself for a feast. I make a heaping plate of hotwings and make sure I have plenty of beer. I make my secret recipe of salsa and cut up a bunch of salami and cheese. I set all this up on the coffee table and turn it to the channel the game is going to be on at least 2 hours before so I don't miss a damn thing! Then I get on huskerboard.com and b.s. on here while wearing my red #13 authentic jersey, just like they wear, in honor of Zac Taylor NOT Corey McKeon!

why would you tackle your wife? isn't it her job to make you food and bring you beer? you don't tackle her until she says something stupid like, "why do i have to make this food?".

"CUZ I SAID SO BITCH!"

oh man...domestic abuse.

My ritual starts around 1 AM the day of the game. You can usually find me laying on the roof naked, pouring milk all over myself and howling to the moon.

That goes till about 4 AM, which is when I smoke out my entire house with Salvia, and am lost in childhood memories of NU beating the crap out of multiple completely outmatched opponents.

After my flashbacks end, it is usually close to 8 AM. From then I drink beer, play ping pong with anyone who wishes to lose embarrassingly, prepare the tray-o-deliciousness (Cheese, salami, crackers, the usual), and sit in front of the TV, soaking up every minute of pre game coverage.

I will never work on saturdays...ever...if I do...It won't be till after the Husker game is over...don't care what I have to do to get the day off...

You know after I made my post I got to thinking. I feel some half personal days coming on. Figured that should be able to allow me to catch at least up to 6-8 games hopefully depending on how many are on tv and what time.

I'm amazed at how few ppl on this forum actually go to the games...

Anyway I get up to the sound of Gameday on ESPN and then watch college football until 3 hours before the start of the Husker game. I then take the Star Tran from Holmes Lake down to Memorial to watch the game.

Well, the past few years, I get up, watch college game day, hoping that something might change (like actually running the ball on 3rd and 2), feast on cold pizza, and wait for the game to start and if i'm lucky enough to see it on tv, usually I ended up throwing things at the television, screaming loudly, then after the horrible loss that was handed to us, i'd drive up to Jefferson, NJ, and beat up some midgets...

I'm hoping that this will all change...

My life before last year my husker saturdays involved waking up early usually playing hail varsity and sirius until the entire house was up then going to the game and gettting hammered drunk afterwords... nobody likes the drunk guy in the stands...

Within the last year I joined the Navy and missed the first 6 games to bootcamp and heard about the remaining games...EAST COAST shows no love to the Huskers and only saw the misery game and the games against CU and K-state...

This year i predict that my saturdays will be waking up early to catch gameday, telling the wife i ordered the game on pay per view and then watching as our huskers Dominate. It really sucks being out here in Virginia, if there is anyone else around here in VA BEACH give me a shout out...

Well…on Saturdays when I’m not determining the fate of various Big 12 teams, my Game Day usually goes something like this...at least for the last four years:

Wake up and go through the hooker’s purse and get my $50 back before she wakes up…run out to car and drive off at high rate of speed.

Get home and call all the Hawkeye fans that I know and laugh at them because they can’t watch their precious football team play unless they have the Big 10 Network…which none of them do because you can only get it in Des Moines if you have a dish. Laugh to myself because most Hawkeye fans are so stupid that when they found out they had to have a dish to watch their games they went out and bought tons of paper plates because someone told them food would mess up the reception on their dishes….

Call all the neighbors who have children approximately my son’s age…if anyone picks up the phone, I hang up and immediately send him to that house with instructions to stay there until the streetlights come on and to make sure to remind them that he’s invited to stay for lunch and dinner at their house too. Lock the doors once he’s out of sight so he can’t sneak back in.

Walk down the street to the home of the other Cornhusker fan on the block to see if he has his Nebraska flag out yet. If he does….borrow it for my own house for the duration of the game. If he doesn’t, ring his doorbell and berate him about being a “fair weather fan” until he puts it up. Once he puts it up…borrow it for my own house for duration of the game.

Find remote control that actually works the TV….after successfully turning on the DVD player, the stereo, the ceiling fan and starting my car with all the various remotes, actually get the TV to come on….unfortunately, there is a single cloud in the sky over Paraguay or somewhere so the dish doesn’t work….call Hawkeye fans and ask if I can come over and watch the Nebraska game on cable…

Go find radio.

Take radio and headphones to local high school football stadium to listen to game while I watch my kid participate in the youth football league. Find a place to sit where I am surrounded by nice, proper suburban dwellers dressed in Bermuda shots and who wear white socks under their sandals. Spend game screaming obscenities at the radio announcers then apologizing to the shocked people sitting around me, explaining to them that my comments were meant for Bill Callahan and not them or the kids….finally tell them I have Tourets. Notice by halftime that I have the whole section of the bleachers to myself.

As game ends, throw radio onto the field in anger…hit Youth League official! Two points for me! Am escorted out of the stadium. Wait around for my kid who, in an effort to avoid being known as my son, has crawled under the fence and run off in an entirely different direction. Complain to officials that they owe me a new radio.

Go home, notice the doors are still locked…look in the window and see my keys hanging on the hook by the door. Luckily, this has happened many times before and I am prepared. Go into garage and get into the “Party Fridge” for a 12-pack (some day I might put the extra set of keys in there too….) then drink until satisfied. Break window, climb inside, get keys, climb back out of window, unlock door and go back inside. Call police to report a case of vandalism…someone has broken my window and put a stolen Nebraska flag in my flag holder!!!

Go to bed….

Wake up, immediately scream down the hall way in the dorms, GO BIG RED! slam my door shut watch the Nebraska History of Football video probably 5 times, grab my port grill and brats from my fridge, tailgate on campus in some obscure location on campus offering any other students who walk by to join. Continue tail gating until an hour and a half before the game, pick up shop head to memorial, throw the bones and get jacked up before kick off.
