AR Husker Fan
For a kid in that part of the state, the schools to worry about are Tennessee and Ole Miss. Kids in that part of Arkansas tend to have a history of going out of state, and for a lot of residents in that area there's more of an identification with Mississippi and Tennessee. Not to say Arkansas won't have a shot, but I would think it won't be the main competition if the kid gets offers from all three schools. Quote Link to comment
C N Red
Just a gut feeling, but I don't think this guy ends up in the scarlet and cream. Quote Link to comment

papio2chi
I kinda had that feeling with djon washington and he ended up here. I hope its the same with this guy. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
I think we're all just paranoid after all two billion decommits from the 2007 class. Quote Link to comment
Arkansauce
For a kid in that part of the state, the schools to worry about are Tennessee and Ole Miss. Not to say Arkansas won't have a shot, but I would think it won't be the main competition if the kid gets offers from all three schools. That would be true back in the early 2000s but those days are long gone. Loads of guys from the southern part of the state made up the 2008 class http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?r...4&Year=2008 If Arkansas offers a instater the usually always get them. In fact, in the SEC I think only LSU has a higher ratio of offers to commits than Arkansas for instate prospects. Tennessee isnt a factor whatsoever. They havent signed a Arkansas kid since Slick Shelley back in the 05 class. Ole Miss will be a factor for the guys that arent heavily recruited, and half the state still hates Nutt so I dont see them being a factor either. Alabama and LSU are big time factors though. Especially Alabama. Sloan is a very good player dont get me wrong I wish Petrino would offer him, but I will be shocked if he gets a offer. Theres only has 18-20 spots available and the hogs just signed a bunch of DBs in the last class. Sybhrain Berry from Camden (who is a CB) just got offered today, so that even further seperates Sloan from getting a offer (rumors are swirling Berry has already commited too). And Petrino has made it known he wants size, of arkansas' 31 commits in 09 nobody was under 5'10. Sloan measured in at 5'8 at the Little Rock combine last weekend. Quote Link to comment
papio2chi
Rivals rates him as the 16th best CB in the country. Quote Link to comment

huskerguy
Is it that suprising? I mean he hasn't even visited Lincoln yet... The way I look at it I think if he was impressed enough just by the talk, coaches, etc... to soft verbal then a visit during the season will only solidify things. Plus I consider most of these commits this early on fairly soft just because of how much time there is for things to change. Quote Link to comment

Agreed, at this point, verbal really just means a guy you focus on instead of a shot in the dark. Quote Link to comment
Huskers Forever
We need to get his ass up to Lincoln, and recruit the hell out of him. I knew that when he committed so early without visiting, he was a soft verbal Quote Link to comment
BigWillie
Now a SOFT verbal per rivals.... He was all along. The kid wanted attention from other schools, namely Arkansas. Now he's getting it. Quote Link to comment
