HuskerinHouston
Notre Dame sellout streak in jeopardy Comment Email Print Share By Eric Hansen ESPNChicago.com Archive SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Notre Dame football team's home-game sellout streak appears to be going down to the wire this week. Tickets for Saturday's game between the Irish (3-1) and Washington (2-2) at Notre Dame Stadium (2:30 p.m. CDT) are still available. The university sent out a news release Friday morning to that effect. The sale, the release stated, is a result of the University of Washington returning an additional portion of its ticket allotment on Friday. Senior associate athletic director John Heisler said he did not know the exact number of tickets remaining for Saturday's game at 80,795-seat Notre Dame Stadium. Notre Dame has a streak of 207 consecutive football sellouts, dating to a Thanksgiving Day game against Air Force in 1973. In addition, a limited quantity of tickets remain available for the Nov. 21 game against the University of Connecticut as a result of its allotment returns. Eric Hansen covers Notre Dame for ESPNChicago.com and the South Bend Tribune. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Interesting that they would write this article without mentioning the milestone Nebraska just set. Quote Link to comment
Vince from ShamWOW
Interesting that they would write this article without mentioning the milestone Nebraska just set. Not really. They don't care. To Nebraska and their fans, it's a big deal but to the rest of the college footbal world.....not so much. Quote Link to comment

skersfan
There is no chance of it ending. We have the same thing happen when a team returns tickets. We have had them as late as the day before to. Not really news worthy or for the fighting irish to be concerned about is my guess. They will sell them or the boosters will. Quote Link to comment

But doesn't it stand to reason that if sellout streaks were no big deal, that this article wouldn't exist in the first place? I'm not going on some "they're all out to get us" diatribe, but I do think it's interesting that they don't mention us at all. Quote Link to comment

Enhance
Don't let Lou Holtz get a hold of this article. He'll probably find some way to spin it as a positive and further proclaim ND as the 2009 National Champion. Quote Link to comment
UGAHusker
They should try to sell some tickets to Nebraska fans. I mean, we helped them sell out their stadium when we play there in 2000. Quote Link to comment
