2010 Tunnel Walk

Enhance

Recommended Posts

For those of you in attendance at the game, we all got to see the new Tunnel Walk for the 2010 season.

I was impressed with it, but I also felt like it was rather fast and forced. I think they needed to find a happy balance between last years and this years. This years seemed to fly right by, while last years was a little long (but awesome, nonetheless).

What did you guys think of it?

Now, for the sound system rant.

Honestly, it's pretty bad during the Tunnel Walk. I'm not an audio connoisseur, but it is near impossible to hear anything in the South and East sections, even when the fan clapping noise is low. So for those of you at the game, who else has a really hard time hearing anything that is said during the Tunnel Walk, or even the music being played?

They did a poll on the Huskers website and almost no fans reported updating the audio system a major concern. It's absolutely garbage. Impossible to hear anything even without fans clapping.. IE the husker starting lineup which normally plays around 38 minutes before kick off.

In the South Stadium I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with the speakers. I guess I would say that nothing stood out as either positive or negative in my mind.

As far as the tunnel walk, I was pretty amped up and keyed onto the field, so I completely missed the video.

But now that you mention it, the initial clapping intro of the fans was pretty erratic. Usually the crowd claps in a pretty good cadence with each other. But for the first 15 seconds or so, everyone was all over the place. Probably had something to do with not having the music loud enough to establish a rhythm. Also, had a lot of new goofballs around me that thought everyone should just started clapping however they wanted. It was the first time I can ever remember giving up clapping until it got established.

I "think" it can go higher but then people complain (shock)... Anyway this seems to happen every year, now this coming week it will blow you out of your seat or at least be audible, but will have massive distortion, this is the problem of having all the sound come from one area. People sitting under it are reandered deaf, while the other side cant hear a thing. I sit in west and couldn't hear anything.

I for one did not like the new vid, your right it was fast and pushed, maybe they are taking some emphasis off the entrance video, and I wish they would of kept Epochson video, that thing is still beyond awesome... The clapping was terrible, there were a ton of new people in there, and with a low volume it makes things hard... I try to watch the students they seem to keep it together....

Although the new rental seats are very nice.....

For the tunnel walk the audio system is maxed out. They have flown in audio specialists multiple times to try to fix issues with sound. But they only thing they ever really accomplish is matching the audio with the video right around the 50 yard line.

Just so we are clear, they have done NO renovations on the sound system. They have merely tweaked, but until they do some serious work on it, nothing will be fixed. Oklahoma State has a similar system, but the way they are positioned, they sound super powerful and awesome. Unfortunately it would cost just as much to relocation and reposition speakers that it would to put a whole new system in.

Sorry to tell you that fixing this problem isn't even on their radar. We bitch and moaned about it as much as we could have. I don't see it being fixed any time soon.

As for the tunnel walk. It was good, very similar to last years. This one was done completely by Snitley Carr.

Just for the record, I complained about the sound system around the rest of the stadium besides the north end in the survey of stadium expansion, and I could have swore there was a small percentage that complained about the audio in the stadium that needed and an upgrade or something more balanced.

I would expect the North endzone to hear a lot, and that makes sense, but there is absolutely NOTHING for the rest of the stadium. I would think they could be able to put other speakers around the stadium so everyone else can hear what's going on. I don't mean a jumbo-tron in the South stadium, that would be rad though, but just something so that we can hear the music and the commentary. It's just as hard to hear commentary as it is music sitting anywhere else besides North endzone, I would think they could put speakers around the stadium to make it enjoyable for everyone else.

Before the north stadium reno, wasnt their speakers along with each of the huskervision boards as well as abotu the north side scoreboard, allowing equal sound to all parts of the stadium? It's full understandable with all the speakers in the north when you crank up enough for the south to hear, you deafen the north. As for the tunnel walk, i thought it was good, but a little short as well, but that says one thing, they have a special addition planned for the oct 16 edition, probably similar to what they added for ou last year.

I was just thinking the same. Before I remember it being very balanced, hopefully it gets back to that. And yes, the "In The Deed The Glory" video did not appear until the Oklahoma game, no one was expecting it, and people went nuts. I know the same guy isn't there this year, but hopefully they are planning the same kind of ideology for it.

I despise the sound system. We sit in the North end zone and are absolutely smothered in noise. It's very annoying.

Here's the new Tunnel Walk video. It's OK.

Thanks for posting.

The video really doesn't do anything for me. And I see what some meant when they said it was rushed. No wonder I missed it.

Epoc's = WAAAAY Better

Pretty much at any point during that you could start up Sirius and give every last person in Memorial goosebumps.
