HuskerNMO
http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/103010629.html I was hesitant to post this because of the way most of us feel about Cosgrove, but at times like this for them it goes beyond football. Thoughts and prayers going to the Cosgroves from this Husker fan. Gophers wide receiver Connor Cosgrove, son of team co-defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove, has been diagnosed with leukemia and is beginning chemotherapy treatments immediately, coach Tim Brewster said Wednesday. The 19-year-old freshman, an all-state high school player at Edgewood, Wis., spent last season at St. Cloud State but transferred to Minnesota this fall to be with his father. He hadn't been feeling well lately, Brewster said, so the team had him undergo a series of tests. "Unfortunately, they came back and showed he has an acute form of leukemia," Brewster said. "It's a difficult situation." Kevin Cosgrove missed practice Tuesday after learning the news but returned to coach the defense on Wednesday and plans to call the defensive plays Saturday as usual against USC. "Kevin's going to spend time at the hospital with his son, but he'll continue with the preparation," Brewster said. "Kevin's trying to be strong for his family and his son, and he will be. But it's obviously a shock. We're going to help him through a tough situation." 1 Quote Link to comment

HuskerfaninOkieland
That is a rough deal. Hate to hear that about anybody regardless. Definitely sending up prayers for the Cosgrove family! Wish Connor and his family a speedy recovery Quote Link to comment
Husker Z
Wow, watching my neighbor lady go through this the past couple of years and she just decided to quit treatment last month. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Prayers and well wishes to the Cosgrove family, much more important things than a stupid game, that's for sure. Quote Link to comment

Bayside76
No one should have to watch their child suffer! I hope and pray that we see an announcement in a few months that the doctors are sure this young man will beat this disease. All prayers and wishes to the Cosgrove family! Quote Link to comment

hskrfan4life
I will have him and his family in my prayers, and I hope all goes well. Quote Link to comment
Axl_sued_me
This goes without say. I never understood why people had hard "personal" feelings for Coz, Billy C,and even Stevie P, when all they really did was fail at doing their job with Nebraska football. It was just bad fits. They never murdered our cats or anything. Quote Link to comment

Enhance
I truly hope his son gets better and I have no wishes of death or ill fate to anyone. That said, Cosgrove is still somebody I have no respect for. Quote Link to comment
melscott62
best wishes. I don't wish this upon anybody. But c'Mon.... there are lots of people with bad diseases out there. That doesn't mean I'm creating a thread on a huskers message board. wow Quote Link to comment
