HUSKERCR
Don't kid yourself. Despite his abysmal coaching track record, Barney is a legacy with a lot of cronies close to and in the Administration. Barney's covered like a blanket. He's not going anywhere. He has no place to go. Quote Link to comment
Chill
I have never felt that Barney Cotton was the best candidate for the job. I know several people close to the program who consider him lazy and that type of attitude flows down to players. I'm sure the players like him, he does not make many demands on players and does not hold them accountable. I don't care if he has ties in the administration, the guy is a loser where ever he is, get rid of him and Watson, We need a new fresh offensive coaching staff.. Quote Link to comment
mnhusker
Yes, Shawn Watson is awful and needs to go. I am by no means defending him to keep his job, but our offensive line is terrible. Just terrible. Sure, we can push around girly teams like KSU and Missouri, but what about when we play a team that's fired up and physical? We have no chance. Last night it was painfully obvious Washington was just going to load the box and run downs, and blitz the house in passing situations. It would have been nice to see a freaking screen pass, but the offensive line play was just unacceptable. Barney takes decently talented linemen and manages to get the worst out of them. Get that clown out of here. The line was blocking like a screen was called every play last night... You lost me at the line was blocking. Quote Link to comment
HuskerNMO
there was one play that our qb got sacked and i looked.... there were 4 O-LINEMAN ON THE GROUND.... WTF seriously needs a change. gut the offense and start over from top to bottom. coaches need removed and players need re-evaluated. Technically it was 3 OL and Helu on the ground, but you're right. bshirt
My priority is SW/Gilmore simply "must" be shown the door. If Barney too, so be it. This offense is total garbage for years now.....there's no use in pretending otherwise. Quote Link to comment

Pedro Guerrero
Barney is terrible and has always been terrible. It is retarded that this guy has the job he does. It is also retarded that he gets a pass or had been getting a pass because he played at NU. Anyone that doesn't have him as 1A or 1B on their list of coaches that should be fired are blinded by his NU ties. Quote Link to comment
strigori
I former coworker of mine played under Cotton in '01, and he never once had anything good to say about his coaching acumen. I groaned when he was hired in the first place, and have had no reason to change my mind. Quote Link to comment
HuskerTrucker
I have been on the "Fire Barney" bandwagon most of the season, as well as last season. What used to be one of the strengths of Nebraska football has become a joke. We had five offensive linemen last night that couldn't stop a three man rush. Pathetic. Quote Link to comment
junior4949
The same guy who thought it was a good idea to hire him and did hire him is also the same guy that will be hiring our new offensive coordinator. I'm just saying... Quote Link to comment
