Nexus
Per a report over at the great TV sports website The506.com, the Big Ten and ABC/ESPN are discussing alterations to the existing television contract. The item specifically being discussed is that ABC's telecast windows will no longer be exclusive, meaning that the Big Ten Network could air games simultaneously as ABC does. Blackshirt316
The Biggest thing about this for Nebraska is that it will probably allow us to play on Black Friday against Iowa. Quote Link to comment

Is this true? or are you just guessing? because this is an absolute necessary! I dont think we would get that spot on black friday, atleast on ABC. I read somewhere that Iowa/Nebraska game will be on saturday after Thanksgiving for next 2 years, atleast. This may change it, but dont hold your breath. I dont think Iowa wants to play us on black friday for some reason. The biggest thing I could see happening is BigTen games moving to Thursday Night ESPN games. ESPN loves having Nebraska on the Thursday night line up. I wouldnt be surprised if ESPN pushes one of the early BigTen games to a Thursday night. Quote Link to comment

strigori
This opens the door for night games. ABC usually has a 7pm game, this would give the option to not have all the games at 11AM Quote Link to comment

Dam I have fam there, so I'll be able to go to the series every year, but it'll be a heck of a lot harder now that its a Saturday game Quote Link to comment
MinnwiscowaSker
I'd love to have more Thursday night games. While having the option of games on BTN, It's great to get the national exposure that the BTN doesn't provide for recruits that don't have the network. As far as the Iowa game ... I live 20 minutes from Iowa City, so I'm there regardless of day. Friday would be better for same reasons stated above. One game on at the time. No competition. Quote Link to comment
Saunders
If they're smart, they'll move it to Friday. Then they can have two big games, two days in a row. Quote Link to comment

It isn't that the fans or the athletic department don't want to (I don't know about the AD but the fans really want Friday) - but when the game is in Iowa City it can't be on Friday. The stadium is immediately next to the hospital and all of the parking used for football games both immediately next to the stadium and further out are used by the hospital and other university students and personnel during the week. While those areas used by students wouldn't be a problem due to it being a holiday, that Friday is still a normal work day which means no parking for football. Now maybe they will eventually get something worked out but given that the hospital has tried at least twice to force the stadium to move to a less desirable location so that they can expand into that space I would be surprised. For as much money as football brings in - the hospital is still bigger and more well known. Quote Link to comment

okaive
I, in no way want freaking Thursday games. Especially if at home. I would have to take two days off of work just to be able to make the game and get home. Screw that. Quote Link to comment

I don't mind the occasional Thursday game every 2 or 3 seasons but not every year and certainly not multiple ones a season. Quote Link to comment
