ZRod
All the people in the comments care about is the fact that it's only 80 degrees in the summer. "Where I live it's 104! Try a real summer!" 104 with no humidity probably, which is nicer than 98 with 70% humidity. How far has this country fallen that we don't even care about non melting ice cream samiches?!?!! NUance
4 teens charged with capital murder in beating death of USC student By KATE MATHER, RICHARD WINTON LA Times July 29, 2014 Four teenagers, including two juveniles, were charged Tuesday with capital murder in connection with beating a USC graduate student to death with a bat as he walked near campus. Jonathan DelCarmen, 19; Andrew Garcia, 18; Alberto Ochoa, 17; and Alejandra Guerrero, 16; each face one count of murder in connection with the death of Xinran Ji, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said. The four also face a special allegation that the death occurred during an attempted robbery. <snip> Ji, a 24-year-old engineering student from China, was attacked as he walked home from a study group about 12:45 a.m. Thursday. Despite a head injury, Ji managed to stagger back to his apartment a few blocks away, where a roommate later discovered his body. After attacking Ji, prosecutors allege the suspects then drove to Dockweiler Beach, where Ochoa, Garcia and Guerrero approached a man and woman. The three allegedly robbed the woman, but the man managed to escape and flag down police officers who were patrolling the area. LINK This is just so sad. Some Chinese family spends a small fortune to send their only son to the U.S. to get an engineering degree. And four worthless ghetto punks beat him to death with a baseball bat. It's stuff like this that makes me lose faith in humanity. 1 Quote Link to comment
GSG
Just saw this little thing here: Opt Out of Amazon Prime’s Free Two-Day Shipping, Earn $1 Video Credit Basically, you choose the FREE 5-7 day shipping and get $1 to spend on Amazon Instant Video. Seems like a decent deal if you're not in a hurry for something. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
I've had Amazon Prime for two months and haven't watched a single video/show. They sent me a letter saying, Hey - you have this service, you may want to use it. I've just been really, really busy. Quote Link to comment

I am not saying this applies to this case, but read an article in The New Yorker (was in a doctors office, don't judge me) about how the ChiComs send engineering students to the US and commit industrial spying Quote Link to comment

Although I doubt there's much to be gleaned from industrial spying at USC, located on the edge of Watts. They'd get more bang for their tuition buck sending grad students to schools in silicon valley. Quote Link to comment

GSG
Woman accused of theft, defecating in South Euclid store The manager told police that he allegedly saw the suspect, identified as Sandra L. Thomas, 51, place shampoo, soap and toothpaste into a shopping bag and exit the store without paying. In the parking lot he asked Thomas for her receipt, which she could not find. The manager brought Thomas back into the store and told her that he was calling police. “Thomas told him that she had to use the bathroom badly when she suddenly pulled down her pants and defecated in the front of the store,” according to the report. Thomas then left the store and the manager followed her, ending up near the intersection of Warrensville Center and Colony Road. Thomas then allegedly threatened the manager with a can of pepper spray and said that she has AIDS and would spit on him. When police arrived, she told officers that she has colon cancer and had to use the bathroom immediately, again pulling her pants down. The officers stopped her and escorted her to a nearby bathroom. While then sitting in the back of a police cruiser, she also told an officer that she had bed bugs. http://www.news-herald.com/general-news/20140730/woman-accused-of-theft-defecating-in-south-euclid-store Quote Link to comment
