knapplc
The contract, sent from Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne to Southern Miss AD Jeff Hammond, serves as an amendment to a three-year deal signed in 2008. It was officially signed by USM's president this morning. Here's how it reads: The location for the game shall be changed from M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, MS to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE.The visiting team (the University of Southern Mississippi) shall be paid a flat dollar guarantee of $2,125,000,00. On Tuesday, USM announced the firing of coach Ellis Johnson. For a debt-ridden athletics department, the cost of buying out the remaining three years of his contract is steep: $2.1 million. Funny how things work out. LINK So that's 8 home games next year. That's a lot of tailgating! Quote Link to comment
Blackshirts007
Is that 2 Mil for both games? or just the game being switched from MS to here? Quote Link to comment
Huskerfan1985
I read that as 2 mil for the 2013 game.... seems a little pricey. Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
The east expansion is supposed to be open by then. roughly, what, 92,000 seats? @ 56$/seat? Thats $5,152,000 in face value ticket revenue alone for that extra home game. Maybe pricy, but probably well worth it when added up. Quote Link to comment
Creighton Duke
Too bad. I was really hoping to hit up the cultural mecca known as Hattiesburg. Quote Link to comment
2ndNnine
sounds like a bailout Quote Link to comment
huskrplaya
WOOHOO..didn't we have an 8 game schedule 2-3 years ago? Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
Honestly though, I wouldnt've minded hittin this game up @ Arrowhead. KC's probably forgotten what a sellout looks like. Quote Link to comment
AgMarauder04
Southern Miss's AD is a wreck. They need the coin. Quote Link to comment

HuskerMack
If we played it at their stadium we would have gotten paid 300,000 instead we pay them 2.1 mill and keep 2 mill it was a no brainer and an extra home game. 1 Quote Link to comment
TGHusker
Makes the road to the NCG a bit easier - not that they would have been much of a problem playing at their place. Quote Link to comment
