While Tiger was still on the course, they reviewed the drop and determined that it was a legal drop. 4. Tiger signs his scorecard, which is correct at the time. 5. Following Tiger's post-round statement and subsequent social media outrage, the committee revisits the drop decision. 6. They determine that the the drop was actually illegal and assess a 2-stroke penalty, the penalty he should have been incurred at the time. 7. Tiger then could have been disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard, but this was waived because of a combination of #3 (see above) and rule 33-7. Hopefully that helps. 1 Quote Link to comment
