Homosexual people don't have any more or less deeper issues; just different ones.

What issues are those and how do they differ from the issues of heterosexuals?

I don't have any blanket statements to make because there aren't many if any that can be said; it comes down to individual people in their own upbringings and societal pressures and relational health and/or wounds.

Both of you seem to have a tit for tat issue.

Viewing porn does not = objectifing women or making jokes about fat women.

Some porn might be about that.

It is interesting that being gay is just as bad as excessive drinking. Being gay is not an action. A person might have lustful feelings for a person of the same sex or the opposite sex. That doesn't mean they act on those feelings.

The scouts want to exclude based not on actions but emotions. Do gay people have 'deeper issues' Landlord?

You're all over the place. You said "Viewing porn does not = objectifying women" then in the next sentence you said "Some porn might be about that." What are you trying to say? Who said being gay is just as bad as excessive drinking? Is that your opinion, or are you inventing things to apply to others of us? And tit for tat???? WTF are you trying to say? If you wonder why people misunderstand you from time to time, just try following a logical sequence in your posts. Vacillating back and forth and speaking cryptically or about invented hypotheticals sure isn't helping.

"Sexual objectification refers to the practice of regarding or treating another person merely as an instrument (object) towards one's sexual pleasure, and a sex object is a person who is regarded simply as an object of sexual gratification.Objectification more broadly is an attitude that regards a person as a commodity or as an object for use, with little or no regard for a person's personality or sentience."

It's the pursuit of the viewer (95% of the time a man) obtaining pleasure from a visual sight or physical object, depending on how you want to word your semantics, of a woman. What is pornography other than this exact thing?

Absolutely they do. Heterosexual people do too. Homosexual people don't have any more or less deeper issues; just different ones.

Isn't the only difference between heteros and gays who they're interested in sleeping with? It's a sex issue. Every other "issue" is pretty much down to the individual, regardless of sexual preference. Yes?

So, the fact that someone is a homosexual is not an indication that such people have deeper issues, as opposed to perhaps an alcoholic?

Yes. It is a sex issue.

Sorry, the way this conversation progress towards the question of gays compared to heteros led me to misunderstand what you were asking. I wasn't trying to make any distinction, but only to simply state that people of all kinds go through life with different pressures and scars that impact them in a number of ways. Sometimes these are easy to spot, most times not. I think we can all agree that people don't choose their sexual orientation, and that it always ends up as a combination of different amounts of genetics and societal conditions in which they are raised.

And Nobody, this is an answer to your latest post as well. Not specifying it just to sexual orientation, but to all things. Alcoholism is a combination of genetic tendencies and upbringing; just as anger, depression, generosity, stubbornness, the ways in which we form our friendships, and any number of other things. Alcoholics don't have deeper issues than non - they only have more visibly apparent ones.

Not everything that you might consider pornographic is objectification of women. Some porn is, but not all. You might consider 2 guys have sexual relations as pornographic. You might consider some ART in a museum as pornographic but others might see it just as an expression of the natural beauty of the human form.

I am sure if you think about it long and hard, you will see that "Viewing porn does not = objectifying women" 100% of the time.

I certainally don't agree with the bold statement and most of the research on the topic doesn't support it as well.

I don't think we're in disagreement, but just saying different things. Again, I'm looking at the intents and purposes behind things. For example, If I accidentally walk in on my roommate looking at porn and I glance at it for a second, obviously I don't jump to the conclusion that i am objectifying women because my retinas just happened to receive visual stimuli of images of sex. So I'm not referring to a legal definition of pornography - only to the idea of pornography. We can easily agree that someone looking at museum art or looking at nude imagery to appreciate the beauty of the human form is entirely different than joe schmo getting off to pornhub videos.
