RedRedJarvisRedwine
I find that by not going to the bars 5x a week, not tailgating all day for every game, and in general having hobbies other than drinking alcohol saves a decent chunk of change. Anyone else having a hard time figuring this one out? Yes! How does KJ. manage to get drunk?! Fermented panda tears Quote Link to comment

Chimalli
If you are trying to save up more cash, where do you look to make cuts? Booze? Cable TV? DirectTV? Cheaper foods? Cooking at home? What kinds of things do you try to do so that you can save some more cash? I think for me, it is the liquor purchases that eat into a bit much. I cut my children from the budget and PUT THEIR LAZY ASSES TO WORK. Look, I don't that one just turned five, he thinks room and board are free. I save a ton on daycare now. Aside from that the Mrs. and I cut internet, cable, booze, cook at home (Tangent: you can make some kick ass pan-fry noodles from Ramen, just use half the amount of water, fry veggies, potatoes, and use hot sauce). We both have smart phones and hit up Redbox weekly. I drink from time to time but now I am a two beer queer. Quote Link to comment
QMany
I'm a single, 26 year old attorney. I just moved back in with my parents, and it is glorious. Saving bank! If that isn't an option, I'd say eating out is the biggest way to save. Last winter, I was diligent with my workouts and nutrition. I was eating healthier food, and more of it, but I was cooking all my meals at home. I noticed at the end of the month how much more disposable income I had left. I think I spent it on booze. Hahah! tschu
I'm not giving up my beer or wine. I cut costs by cooking at home. I cook about as well as most restaurants, and the cost is SO MUCH LESS, so why eat out? And on those nights when I'm just tired and don't want to cook, I inevitably find myself hating the meal at the restaurant because it's crap and it cost about as much as my weekly grocery spending. This Plus I love cooking; I'm a science guy and cooking is essentially science. I'm getting to the point where I can make just about anything at near restaurant quality with good groceries, or make something pretty damn good out of really cheap stuff If I'm cutting on booze it means I'm buying natty and evan williams instead of microbrew and scotch.
