Yeah, Taylor is really having trouble planting and taking off. I'm not sure why I understand Taylor is in, probably to get him up to speed with some live action next week, but you'd think if that was the case they would rotate some RK3 in there or something.

 

I don't like the way our offense looks right now, but Minnesota's got a pretty stout defense there. That one DL guy is a stud.

Watch the replay. No, if he brings that down it's a great play but he's not super human. It was a bad pass and that's why it wasn't caught.

I really hate how our O Line blocks. We don't put hat-on-hat like Minnesota (and everyone else) does. We look to "get to the second level" too much, leaving a guy unblocked, and more often than not that guy makes the play.

 

The thing that annoys me the most? I bitched about this last year. And we're still doing it.

Such as running it down your throat? This is Minnesota's offense. Running the football. Has been all year.

 

The sad thing is, Minnesota isn't doing anything creative or even fancy. They are lining up man on man and just kicking our butts.

2nd Quarter Impressions:

• Nebraska came crashing back down to earth and started looking more like a Bo Pelini coached Nebraska team...unfortunately.
  
• Serious question for Tim Beck; Do you really think Taylor Martinez is a drop-back passer, and do you really think that gives you the best chance to win???
  
• When Minnesota is out rushing Nebraska in the first half, serious changes need to be made.
  
• Sadly, again when our defense on paper has more talent than an opposing team we can make them look vastly superior to us.
  
• The lack of aggression, getting off blocks, not flying to the football, and giving up big plays on 4th down is simply unacceptable.
  
• If Nebraska loses this game, consider Bo back on the hot seat.
  
• On the positive note...maybe Pat Smith is gaining some confidence.
  

What I would like to see in the 2nd half:

1. The speed option is working...bring in a quarterback who can really run it. It's time to live or die with Tommy Armstrong.
   
2. Why bring in Tommy? If Taylor can't run its a 10 vs. 11 kind of game. We must have mobility at the QB position to make it 11 on 11.
   
3. Get into bigger sets, either 2 tight end sets or I-formation and start running right at Minnesota, followed with misdirection / play-action bootleg plays.
   
4. Strap the chin-straps down tight everyone...it's going to be a long 2nd half I think.

If this is the best Taylor is going to be, he needs to be on the bench. If we are going to hand off and pocket pass, RKIII should be the guy under center.
