Warrior10
That secondary is looking stout. Gifford, Singleton, Gerry, Cooper, Leroy all easily pass the eye test. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Anyone know anything about Alexander maybe being in trouble? Saw a reference to it on another sight, trying to determine the level of smoke. He is right there in the picture posted so I would guess no? Pelini mentioned a hammy injury for the reason he missed some of practice yesterday. He was dressed and did some position-specific work so I wouldn't think so either. Quote Link to comment
HuskerNationNick
I just don't see anyone taking Cooper's spot right away. Maybe after the season starts, but his experience and ability to be a proven tackler is going to land him the #1 spot. Its going to take on the field experience for him to lose it. SouthAfricanHusker
Everything I am hearing is, yes, there is something more to the Alexander issue. At this point nothing that should end up affecting playing time but we shall see. It may be a good excuse to build depth and hopefully it all blows over in a week or two. Quote Link to comment
Stumpy1
Coop and Gerry look like Lbs playing safety...Scary looking Quote Link to comment

Who's saying Cooper is in any danger of losing his spot? There are a lot of posts in this thread saying they want Gerry and Alexander to start. That would mean that Cooper would be losing his spot. I don't think Cooper is in danger of losing his starting job. The coaches think highly of him, as a leader of the defense. Quote Link to comment

IMO only Gregory has a better hold on his starting spot than Cooper. Only an injury will see him lose his spots. Quote Link to comment
HuskerNationNick
You can pen in 4 starters (if healthy) on defense right now, Gregory, Valentine, Mitchell and Cooper. Collins could be as well but I'm not 100% on that one lol. Quote Link to comment

Anderson seems like he has his spot locked down and Rose, Santos and Bando are battling for the other two. McMullen from all accounts is head over heals ahead of the backups at DE. But I agree. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Brian Christopherson @HuskerExtraBC 7m A couple young guys who impress me so far: Kieron Williams and Josh Kalu. Williams had a real nice stick on T Newby tonight. #Huskers Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Mike'l Severe @MikelSevere 5m Kevin Williams will get his time this year. He's too good to keep on the bench. Strength leverage plus technique. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
Steven M. Sipple @HuskerExtraSip 53s Four newcomers to watch very closely in #Huskers secondary: Josh Kalu, Chris Jones, Trai Mosley and Kieron Williams, especially Williams. Dan Hoppen @danhoppen 18s One guy who’s stuck out to me through 2 practices: freshman safety Kieron Williams. Keep an eye on that kid in the future. Quote Link to comment
