Dr. Mantis Toboggan
Ohio St ranked, Va Tech not. Notre Dame looked like crap against Purdue and ranked in the top 10 Michigan State moves up in the polls by not playing anyone 2 Quote Link to comment
NUance
Ohio St ranked, Va Tech not. Notre Dame looked like crap against Purdue and ranked in the top 10 Michigan State moves up in the polls by not playing anyone About tOSU, they won 66-0 and dropped a spot. Meanwhile, Clemson is idle and moves up a spot to leapfrog tOSU. Granted, Ohio State played a cream puff (Kent State). But isn't that better than being idle? Weird. Quote Link to comment

Eric the Red
We win games, we will move up. Until we beat a decent team we won't budge. As simple as that. Quote Link to comment

I think we have to rely on other teams to lose, more than us winning. The whole guilt by association thing with the Big Ten. 1 Quote Link to comment

You really think 10-20 years ago they made more sense than now? You think back then they meant more to anything than they do now. Quote Link to comment

You really think 10-20 years ago they made more sense than now? You think back then they meant more to anything than they do now. I'd say polls are affected more now by sportscasters who work for networks who have invested millions in exclusive conference television deals, and would naturally expect their employees to actively promote their product. Also the best way for an "independent" sports reporter to get themselves on TV guest spots is to actively support the opinions of the network. The obvious gorilla in the room right now would be ESPN and it's near incestuous love affair with the SEC. Quote Link to comment

I don't remember anyone in say, 1999 scoff, "pfft, I wish we weren't ranked, we'd sneak up on more people" Quote Link to comment
